Lucas clears his throat. "There is one other journeyman in Sa Dragonerra," he observes, not showing any annoyance at being overlooked. "I'm not sure exactly what you feel my role is in the chapterhouse, but I stand ready to serve the covenant as needed. Like Fleur, I have an excellent lab already, and a beautiful home in Majorca, which I would be sad to have to move from. But you must admit that House Mercere could have no objection to me caring for the Mercere portal."
Frederika smelled an opportunity! And if portal duty meant being more social than most preferred? That suited her all the better. Not that this was a stroke of good fortune...just inertia working in her favour: "I haven't properly situated myself yet; changing residence isn't an issue. I accept without complaint.
OCC: Trogdor, you had been gone so ong I forgot you were an isander. I had thought Lucas was in the Mercere tower in the quarter managing the Portal hub. That is what your house wishes you were doing anyway. If not, they will find another to replace you in thaat post.
If everyone is happy with me moving to Arans, I'd be fine with that. Should I move to the Mercere tower or Fedora's old tower?
What are the rules for moving your lab again? Or could Lucas move into an already existing lab in one of those towers?
This may be foreshadowing, or not (No time to do much these days )
One of the servants at Mallorca has disappeared. A plump washerwoman in her 50s. Maybe he fled, maybe he drowned, maybe he was eaten by a kraken. Whatever.
Anyway, she's a minor one, probably beneath the notice of the magi.
I'm guessing that we're going to rubber-stamp Guiverna's petition to join Sa Dragonera (a wholly owned subsidiary of Covenant of Andorra, LLC[sup]®[/sup]). But I still think I should get her Interrogatory Questions on the record, just because.
And if so, which sanctum/laboratory would she be moving into so I can redecorate?
"I've never known a known practitioner of Diedne magic, so that part would be a definite 'no.' And I have no sympathies to those who practice human sacrifice to increase their power, or who bargain with the Forces of Darkness for any reason."
Guiverna thinks long and hard on this one before she answers. "Do I intend to? No. But I think we all must accept that mistakes are made, and that accidents happen. But I will swear an oath to Maât and to each and every one of you, that I will make it right, in whatever manner you see fit."
"I admit that Mentem is not my strongest Form. But I don't know when my memories could have been tampered with to joint this covenant, or by...um...actually, now that you bring it up, is it possible that the spirit friend of Vulcanus's could have put the idea in my head? I thought it was my own idea but..."
Guiverna smiles. "I've already been exiled from two covenants. It would take a very hefty sum for me to risk a third."
"I might have slept with one or two, but if so, they never told me what they were."
I had originally intended a new thread for the Interrogatory. But I have been slow and slacking lately, so it works better to just kick it along.
New job is kicking my @$$!!!
To expedite, shall we just go ahead and vote?
There are no negative votes coming from characters I control. The only thing is Vocis suggests putting Guiverna in the Watchtower and moving Fredrika from there to the manor in Palma on Mallorca, the one with the portal that used to be managed by Pere Jerbiton.
Fleur is obviously in full support.
Frederika's already said her piece. And she can't really refuse even if she wanted to. Not given how recently she was accepted without complaint!
The Spider is torn, and resolves her dilemna by saying Ok, so long as Guiverna is put in Mallorca, far from Andorra, and where her sodales can keep up tabs on her.
I trust our Inquisitor to ensure the asp ain't in the nest.
Lucas votes to accept Guiverna. Better to have her on Andorra's side than against it.
So, by my reckoning, that's 4 or 7 Ayes, depending on how you count it: Arachné, Fleur, Frederika, and Lucas from the player-controlled characters; Roberto, Vocis, and Carmen from the Marko-controlled characters.
No votes against.
Still waiting on votes from Solomon, Acutus, Antoine, Cecilio, Kesara, and Tertio.
Acceptance is 2/3 of a quorate membership, quorum being half of the members present and officiated by a Pontifex (Carmen), or attended by three Masters (Arachné - Solomon and Vocis are the only other two Masters, and they're both Markovian).
Doesn't acceptance have to be unanimous?
The Rules for Membership page says, "Acceptance of a member at the rank of Journeyman requires a two-thirds vote of approval by a quorate General council." (That was the page I was looking at.)
And the Resolutions of Charter page, under Rights and Privileges, subsection Rights of Membership, says, "Journeyman is the entry level status granted to a magus accepted by a unanimous vote of this council and who swears to the covenant oath."
So...it seems we have a contradiction. Marko?
Antoine is in favour. I say aye. I don't believe Guiverna harbours any ill intentions, and we're a strong enough covenant that we can act if we find she does. And we do need to replace Pere.
Go with the most recent one, which I beieve is ur charter here in our forum.
Kesara votes yes. Cecilio is not yet a member. Tertio never made it into a lasting part of the game.
Seems like the later one is the right one.
Need to update he wiki....
Note that Arachné only agrees if she's to be sent to Sa Dragonera
Acutus will heartily agree to Guiverna's membership.
Solomon shows some reticence, as he's still trying to maintain Valgravian's favor, but will side with Arachne and accept her IF she is stationed at Sa Dragonera.
I've skimmed briefly over the charter while updating the oldest part, and, if I understand correctly, we do no follow our old charter As far as I can tell, she first needs to be a Pledge
Right, but remember we made an "addendum" for Sa Dragonera? Basically, if a magus chooses to spend time (I think 7 years or maybe 7 seasons) at Sa Dragonera, then they can become a member immediately.
