Covenant info

Description
Novus Mane is a desolate covenant that consists of two towers that are created by magical means. One tower is made out of white stone and are shaped as a dodegon (a geometrical shape with twelve sides), the white tower is both taller and wider than the other tower. The second tower is made out of grey stone and a simple round construction, it is still of magical origin and made out of a single block of stone.

Between the towers there are a temple that is dedicated to the Roman gods. It is a mundane building that once where in good shape but now is deteriorating and in overgrown by lichen and vines.

The towers are surrounded by a ring wall that is deteriorated. Within the walls there are numerous houses that contain the covenfolk and their families. The structures resemble a small town and are built in a haphazard way, what little planning that once existed is now lost. The streets are cramped and full of debris and they snake their way towards some distant goal. The streets seems to once have been made out of stone but now a days there are only mud and pieces of stone. In the town one can scent a distinct smell that is far from pleasant. There seems not to be any structures that suggest a mundane mean of income.

Near the gate, on the outside, there is a guesthouse for visitors. It is a small but rather well kept building made out of stone. When the covenant is expecting visitors there are a few servants there otherwise there is only the guard who man the gates.

Feudal duty

• At tribunal the magi of Novus Mane must surrender half their sigils to a representative of Florum.
• Every year Novus Mane must supply Florum with five pawns of Vim vis.
• Every five year one magi from Novus Mane must perform a service for Florum. This service may not take longer than a season to perform and not put the magi in harms way. Experimental laboratory research is an exception from this.

Duties of protection

• Florum must not support any tribunal decision that is to the detriment of Novus Mane.
• Florum must not oppose any tribunal decision that benefits Novus Mane. Exception to this is when Florum can claim that the decision is harmful to them.
• Florum is obliged to answer one request from Novus Mane every seven years. This can be refused if the request does either of the following, require the expenditure of vis, interrupt a season or cause unreasonable risk to the magi of Florum. The magi of Florum decides what is an unreasonable risk.

Income

• 100 pawns of silver for preformed wizardry and sold vis. This requires at least three seasons of work from the magi of Novus Mane. (Thus there are a vis salary).

David's lab is entered through a perfectly normal door on the second floor of the gray tower. Inside is a seemingly endless, dirty labyrinth, formerly inhabited by a Criamon. Within its dusty corners, David has found all manner of odd and inexplicable things placed by the former inhabitant. Those entering the lab are advised to stay in the lit passages, for they (usually) lead to occupied areas. Off in the dark reaches, marked with "signs" only discernable to a wolf's sense of smell, David keeps his stores of supplies, including the preserved corpses that he uses for his necromantic constructs.

Novus Mane fishing fleet

Description

Down at the docks there are a newly constructed settlement where forty buildings are standing in rows and in the centre of the fishing village there are a paved square with a well and a marble statue of Neptune. The buildings are wooden but rather large and well constructed, above the standard that you could expect a fisherman to be able to afford.

Resources

40 large fishing boats
40 large houses
40 fishermen families
1 large ostentations statue of Neptune

Income to the covenant
With the starting of 1221 the fishing fleet will generate an income of 40 pounds of silver for Novus Mane

Vis sources

Seisin vis (25 in total, 4 Animal, 8 Vim, 4 Ignem, 2 Creo, 3 Herbam, 2 Perdo)

On the 1st full moon after midsummer a great shoal of small fish gather and spawn on the harbour of the covenant by gathering the materials which come to the surface the covenant is able to gather 4 pawns of Animal vis

In the Roman temple and public laboratory there manifest a number of tiny crystals each Roman new year that gives eight pawns of Vim vis.

A site where fire fell from heaven, leaving a rock behind. Most of the year, it just seems to be a piece of strangely heavy stone, but on the anniversary of its fall, the rock ignites with supernatural flame that can be harvested for 4 pawns of Ignem Vis. The locals think this is the leftovers of a fallen angel, and fear the place accordingly.

In the covenants garden just beneath the tower a rare flower blooms every spring, generating 2 pawns of Creo vis.

Weeds and lichen that grows all over the covenants, especially on the hill and on the temple does sometime generate 3 pawns of Herbam vis in form of strange and colourful flowers.

A nearby marsh that emits a rotten odour does sometimes generate 2 pawns of Perdo vis in rotten branches.

The Books from greece
Homers Collected Poetry in Greek (Faerie Lore tractatii 14 and Faerie Lore 14) Homer being one of the greatest Poets
Lab Text Confusion of the numbed Will
Vim Tractatii Quality 11
Mentam Tractattii Quality 12
Tractatii on Rego Quality 13
Summae on Mentam Level 9 Quality 11

You do realize these are mythic tractatii?

Let's say:
Com +5, skilled scribe (+1), a skilled binder (+1), a skilled illuminator (+1), +3 good teacher = Q 11. Under each and every of your tractatii. You need to add mystical resonnaces (up to +3) to get to 14. Not even 15.

May I suggest splitting them, and maybe increase a little Quality to compensate? Like, have each time 2 books with half your quality + 1?
This'd make:

  • 1 Q7 and 1Q8 Vim Tractatii
  • 2 Q7 Mentem tractatii
  • 1 Q8 and 1Q9 Rego Tractatii (already very good)

Or maybe change them to either low-level/High Q summaes, or High-level/Low Q summaes?

Tractatii get a generic +3 bonus on the formula btw....errata....

Kal

Kal is correct. You start with +3, add +3 for Well Scribed/Bound/Illustrated, giving you a base of 6. I figure Good Teacher should be plentifully common for authors (for example, Roberto is not a Good Teacher, and guess what? He will probably never-ever write a tractatus). So that takes it to Q 9. Presuming he has a Com of +1 or +2, I would think a Q range of 9 to 11 is the average. Less than that and no one will want to bother copying and distributing the book.
15 is high, but not impossible. Now 20 is impossible, I called it out on that one.

Gents, I'll have to check, we may have found an error in Covenants

Or not, it's in the errata :frowning:
