An example of what I’m looking for is that in a mock battle a grog was “smashed” by a really powerful blow. No real effect but he would have been seriously hurt or killed. Can this leave a psychological scar, or a magical effect that shows as an old lingering wound occasionally? It could be as simple as a new flaw and virtue or a faerie that actually causes the effects as a joke.
That sounds like taking a flaw in exchange for reducing a wound from LoM, so “Plagued by Supernatural Entity” could be such a flaw, even if I would rather do that for a mage/companion rather than grog.
The Flaw should depend on the faerie’s nature and how the grog’s interaction went. If it was a nature-related faerie who left the grog with an affinity for that environment then Anchored to the [Land] or Fish Out of Water [Terrain] might be appropriate.
Mechanically, use the Grant (Minor Flaw) power in RoP: Faerie p57. If the Story happened in Arcadia the faerie might not need the power; it can be an effect of a Eudokian Story (see RoP:F p38-39).
When it makes sense for the story I’ve handed out Flaws (or Virtues) for a significant development, even if I hadn’t written down Grant (Minor whatever) on the faerie’s stats. Just like it might make sense for a grog to end up with Missing Hand after an Incapacitating wound.
Haha! I thought about the curse. But really don’t understand it mechanically. There are so many books, I tend to ask at the table but I’m running this story and don’t want to ruin it.
There's no reason why a faerie couldn't have a curse/bless power. “If you hang from a tree, Odin will take one of your eyes and grant you Second Sight”. Formally, they’d be listed as two powers for purchasing purposes, but they could be defined as coupled.
And yes, this is a lot like a Faerie version of an initiation. Faeries have a lot of flexibility in what they do.
