The Faith & Flame Toolkit provides a Storyguide and players with the tools to launch a new saga in the Provençal Tribunal, based at the covenant of the Coenobium. It includes:
8 character folios describing a magus with connections to the region, with full color original art.
101 spell cards, detailing every spell the magi know as well as the spells found in the Coenobium guest library.
An 8-page Player Handout that gives the players the starting situation and maps, describes the magi, and details the magi’s sanctums, labs, grogs, servants, vis allowance, and the contents of the guest library.
A 16-page Storyguide Booklet with instructions on how to use the tookit, design considerations for the 8 magi characters, and dozens of plot hooks including advice on founding a new covenant, vis hunts, and fallen covenants in the region, plus a complete character sheet with color art for Pola the Sophist, the patron of the magi and their contact among the Coenobium.
A 32-page adventure, “The Missing Master,” emphasizing exploring supernatural sites, problem solving, and social interaction.
Yes! I am adapting the Mount Ventoux plot hook “The Master’s Ire” into a two part adventure. Part one is all about traveling to the mountain, staying at the abbey there, and investigating local mystical sites. In part two, the magi are sent to Arcadia and must race to rescue Calais of Bonisagus, so-called “Master of the Winds.”
I very much like how the adventure is coming together. But it’s got a ways to go yet so I decided to release the toolkit first.
Oh wow this looks cool - I always wished we’d had a chance to expand on Mount Ventoux actually - happy to chat about the project actually, I wrote the Coenobium and surrounds section.
I’m proud to announce the Faith & Flame Toolkit is now complete, with a 32-page starting adventure, “The Missing Master,” and both print and digital versions.
If you previously downloaded the toolkit, everything but the spell cards has changed, so you will want the updated, corrected, and expanded versions!
I run into Mark Smylie art often (I'm also a fan of RQ) and I am not complaining.
Edit: It would probably be a good idea to optimize the .pdfs more. The gamemaster booklet is massive... I've never seen a half gigabyte pdf, much less one for a book that size.
Yes, I apologize for that. The art in the Storyguide booklet is all very high resolution. I will look at redoing it with smaller files. Sorry about that.
This looks cool but I have some technical feedback before I've even looked over it.
The file size of these seems way bigger than it should be, I've got 500 page pdfs downloaded that are much smaller than these files.
The default file explorer on my phone is becoming unresponsive when viewing the folder containing your files, I'm assuming it's got something to do with the thumbnails and is likely caused by the same thing as the larger than normal filesizes.
Providing a compressed folder containing all the files would make downloading these easier for those that are going to download all of them, though you should still try to reduce the original filesize.
edit: Just noticed somebody else brought up the filesize, I didn't notice that when I skimmed the comments before trying to download.
Yes, I’m sorry they’re so large. It’s because the art is all very high resolution. I should redo all the files with lower-res art but after spending months on the project I had to get back to my real job. I apologize, but I hope you enjoy.
I compressed the GM booklet (500 mb) online at Adobe and it shrunk it all the way down to 7mb. (I tried to compress it less and it estimated 80mb, but that's what I ended up with for some reason). It's noticeably blurrier if you zoom in, but it looks pretty much the same if you don't and the savings of disk space/gains in speed are likely worth it to someone. You can use "I Love PDF" for the same purpose, both without paying anything.
