Fall 1229 A hidden path

Guida fights back before the plant fully recovers, attacks with a 20, damage total 8 + advantage, defense is 21, soak 12.

Plant has a defense of 3 vs Guida and 0 vs. Fiore, giving Guida an advantage of 17, Fiore 21, Guida does 22 damage, Fiore 21, laying two more heavy wounds upon it- it's attempts to attack are sad and pathetic, and the previous wounds heal as they have been, so it winds up with 2 heavy wounds, 1 medium wound and 2 light wounds.

I think this is it. Guida exploded on her attack roll, for a total of 27, damage total 8 + advantage, defense is 21, soak 12.

"Why won't this thing die already?" Fiore is getting frustrated

Attack total 14, damage 3 before attack advantage. Defense total is 15, Soak of 0.

"Or just to let us go through. Then we wouldn't have to ah..." Slash. "Hack our way through."

You hack the plant all the way down to it's roots, opening a passage for the group to get through which still threatens to close before long with the roots trying to regain their growth and the shrubs next to it reaching to fill the space.

"Shall we make a run for it? I don't see how we can take it out permanently"

Guida takes the suggestion and rushes through.

Fiore follows her closely behind.

Are Jaeger and Giovanni still with the group?

On the other side of the hedge is an open meadow, brightly lit with the sun overhead, and a tall thin tower with a single window at the top, and no visible doors. The kind of tower you find in stories of abducted young maidens that nobody would ever build in the real world.

Giovanni was Schwartz's character. He recently advised he had no time to play and was bowing out of the game. I've flagged all the inactive characters on the wiki btw, and hidden their columns in the season tracker.

Guida will take time to walk arround the tower to see if there is any entrance they missed or other details besides the window at the top.

Giovanni is core to the covenant's financial situation, so we will say he got stuck on the cave side of the hedge.
Guida will not see any obvious door at the base by walking around it. Lets also see what Jaeger's disposition is, though his involvement thus far has been negligable.

Plot Device says Jaeger's not along.

Guida has a Str 2. Per Mercury's Winged Sandals, she should be able to carry a load of up to 28 while flying, with a speed reduction. An unencumbered individual is Load 21. When not on redcap business, but fully armed and armored, Guida has a load of 5. If Fiore came with just a dagger, she should be able to give him a lift up to the window.

Guida sheathes her sword and puts her shield at her back, then activates her boots and floats off the ground. Addressing Fiore: "Want a ride up there? I'll lift you up to the window so you can go in and we can explore the place together."

Fiore looks up at the window, and back at Guida "Flying?! How can you fly?! Why wasn't I given such an ability?" He seems to eye Guida's apparel closely, and if he notices their magic, he'd curse under his breath in Italian. But he will consent to being lifted, and will be a bit shocked to have it happen.

You get up to the window and see a bedroom inside, well appointed and with apples and water on a table. There is also a table, chair and mirror. Gretel is within.

As in Gretel Messerli and not, say, Gretel from Hansel and Gretel? Just asking, this is a fairie regio after all :joy:

A woman of average height with a lean yet curvaceous build sits in the chair. She appears to be braiding her long blond hair. When Gretel turns toward the window, her blue eyes which widen and her mouth drops open in surprise.

Yes, Gretel Messerli

Fiore gives her a bow and a flourish, giving her an imitation of how one greets a noble "Ah, milady! This so good to see you safe and sound! We have come through deep valleys, thorny hedges, and impossible towers to find and rescue you!" As he says that, he tries to scan the room to see if there are any riches, or magical items, to steal.
