Fan Grimoire?

Anyone else going to do any reviewing of Herbam? I stopped at about 80% waiting for others to comment.

I got through a good chunk, but then found it was just you and me going back and forth without others. I was hoping others would get going on CrHe.

I will. Just go out of surgery, and pain medication was knocking off pretty good.

Oh, ouch. I hope you're healing well and continue to do so.

Can you regomentum someone to act drunk?

I started to tackle CrHe. I will do that everyday until completion.

I have issue with Creo Herbam non-ritual feeding people because of Moon duration.
More specifically:
"Any food created is nutritious only if the creation is a ritual.", p136

We worked with the assumption that if the magically-created food would last long enough to be processed by the body, then it will be nutritious. Which is in direct contradiction of this simple line of the core rule.
So my interpretation of the effect is when somebody eats magically (non-ritual) created food, he feels his tummy getting full, but won't be satiated, or if he feel satiated, he will just be weaker since his body is not really fed.
I know that it creates other problem with non-ritual wood providing eat and light when burn, but the rules are explicitly saying a ritual is needed to feed people.

Thought on the team since we are going through Creo Herbam stuff ?

I think it would work out as your hunger is satiated but your body would just be getting weaker, akin to people eating things inedible stuff (such as St. Petersburg in WWII). Your belly will be full, but you won't recover any strength from it. Physically, I think it would seem like fasting for some time without feeling the hunger.

.

I really don't think this is a valid approach, and I believe the clarification actually already exists:

Consider this case that we do know for sure from the rules: You create lava on someone to cause damage to them. They take damage because of how hot the lava is. The most important component here is the heat. And yet we know for sure this is pure CrTe with no Ignem at all. So we know for sure that using this sort of "important component" argument is fundamentally flawed.

Also consider creating a solid poison, like arsenic, to poison someone. The single most important component is the poison. But the core book says

needs only the basic Art, without requisites (p.79)
so this is CrTe without even an Aquam requisite.

The core book also lists various non-liquid poisons on p.78-79. So we know they're not just aquam from here as well.

It's just that we only have guidelines listed under aquam. But we see the same thing with things like MuCo and MuAn. Just because a guideline is only listed under a single one of them, e.g. boosting Soak under MuCo and not MuAn, does not mean it cannot also be done with MuAn.

I like Ezechiel's recommendation to go with a Perdo requisite for creating poisonous plants. If we are going to drop Aquam then I would suggest we replace it with Perdo. Would that be acceptable?

Also for "Ship Creation Spells", their Formula should be based on "Conjuration of the Seaworthy Cog" (with errata). Broken down to:
CrHe(Te), Base 3, +2 Treated & Processed, +# Size, +# Complexity/Intricacy, +1 Terram requisite

Size varies by ship. The +3 Size in the published spell is enough for a 20 ton cargo Cog, which is the most common trading Cog in AM.

+3 Complexity/Intricacy for a ship. I would be fine with it lower for a boat, such as +2 for a boat with sail (+2 Size or smaller) and +1 for a rowboat (+1 Size or smaller), since they are less complex than a ship.

I could write down a short introductory text for Creo Herbam to explain how these new guidelines were set.

I'll have to check. If you CrAq a liquid poison, do you need Perdo? I don't think so. And I don't think you should need Perdo to CrHe any of the toxic plants I mentioned above or CrTe arsenic. But with Muto it could well be different than with Creo, too.

Yes, that makes a lot of sense.

How do I submit spell ideas to the fan grimoire?

For now, we are not taking submission as we have a huge backlog to clear. We might be taking submission for Art Ignem, Imaginem, Mentem, Terram or Vim as we have not tackle them, but considering the amount we have to go through...

That was exactly why I was asking

I do have a couple spell designs that fall into Imagonem, Mentam, and Terram. Maybe a few Vim ones as well. My question was really in several parts:
1} Is now an appropriate time to submit these? Or will waiting until later be easier for everyone involved?
2} Are spells submitted here, in this thread -- or in another thread, or on the Fan Grimoire web-site, on Discord, or elsewhere?
3} Are there any special criteria for submitted spells? Do they need to do something deemed 'interesting' or 'non-obvious'; do they need to be less than X words long; use or not-use specific mysteries, etc; or something else?

Send them to me in a private message.

It is a valid point. And we have Animal guidelines that requires requisit to give abilities to a magical animal. Does it mean that as long as it is non-magical, there is no need for requisit ?
I am fine with this ruling as I remember a time when you needed requisit for any Creo Imaginem spell that would imitate something, rendering the Form almost unplayable with Creo.
We can take CrAq guideline for poisonous plant.

I have no strong preference, as long as we reach an agreement.

I identified an issue:
We designed a spell (in the Corpus section) with the "While" duration (p122 RoP:F), to go around the need to a ritual. There are two mistakes we made:

  1. This Duration is only available for Faerie Rites, not for Faerie Magic - unless house rule, and we don't want to use any house rule in the Grimoire.
  2. If it is an Hermetic Rites (p121), then it is cast as a ritual, with vis, otherwise it is a Faerie Rites, then the caster need also a Method and a Sympathy trait, which is far from regular magic for the fan Grimoire.

So we need to fix that.
