General Table Talk

Multiple times.

My home internet is down and probably won't be fixed this weekend. I'm afraid my responses to the Transylvania thread will have to wait a couple days.

No worries

A few quick questions here:
my magus is in an adventure in spring 1234, there is an adventure starting in winter 1235- running the same character in 2 adventures simultaneously seems odd- for one thing she might develop abilities or resources in adventure 1 that can be useful in adventure 2...
secondly is there any limitation on the number of adventures per year that a character can be involved in?

I doubt that it will be that drastic of a difference.
There is no limit to the adventures you can experience. Every day awake and alive is an adventure! But you can still only profit from one source of experience per season.

Marko: you said that the Giza thread would be a good place for journeymen to get their feet wet. Does that apply for those not going to Giza? Isn't the distance going to be a problem for those stationed in Sa Dragonerra?

That makes no sense. How can it apply unless you participate?
Transportation between Sa Dragonera and the keep in Arans takes only a few minutes, so there is no real difference being stationed here or there. As for time & distance of travel to Giza, that is not an issue. Let Roberto worry about that.
Oh! Men only, I forgot that part. Or we will wind up sinking to the bottom of the sea and being devoered by a giant kraken.

I think he means if your magus is interested in going to Giza as part of the advance party to ensure they'll let us use them as a staging area. I could see Lucas possbily going as a sign of goodwill, perhaps personally delivering any messages that may be waiting around for delivery to Giza, or offering to carry any messages back. He could treat it as his "act like a redcap" season possibly? The goal is to make them like us, so having a Mercere magus travel with us, especially one with the Gentle Gift, might help us.

And since only men can go, Lucas is the only [strike]Redcap[/strike] Mercere we have that could go anyway.

That works for me.

In retrospect, Johan's flaw is more annoying than amusing (which is what I originally intended). This saga also has more cross-gender characters than I have even encountered in a campaign (and I am part of that situation with Carmen  )
Johan doesn't have to make the ship fly, so Solomon has no worries. He can sail a ship twice as fast as a mundane sailor though, and can take us underwater to avoid any conflict with pirates.

And I should further add that this flaw serves as a Hook, not a prohibition. Fleur can always try to disguise herself and/or stow away and let the fun ensue

Yeah, umm, based on the proclivities that Fleur has shown thus far, Solomon would recommend against sending her on this mission. All we need is for her to hit on one of the older and/or married members of the covenant that doesn't look kindly on those sorts of things and ruin our diplomatic chances

Just so you know, my home computer has kaputzed (no POST beeps, always a good sign :unamused:). That limits me to my work laptop and home laptop (first world problems, eh?). Obviously, that shouldn't impact my ability to post much, but there may be times when I can't get on the laptop because my wife genuinely needs it for, like, actual important Stuff .

Yeah, like her WoW account, you can confess!

Sorry I am out of the Giza thread so far. Been a fairly active week and weekend. Will try to catch up next week and have Miquel do something grog-style.

nothing has really gotten started yet, so nothing to worry about.

Spell/enchanting questions for the troupe...

The MuCo spell Disguise of the New Visage allows you to change your facial features to any configuration 'you choose'. Does this mean it's a flexible spell like Disguise of the Transformed Image (MuIm 15), in the sense that you can choose a different face each time you cast the spell? Also, does it require a Finesse roll?

As a follow-up, what happens when you enchant a flexible spell like DotTI into an item as a constant effect (Sun duration, environmental trigger)? Does it maintain one specific illusion/disguise forever, or can you change the disguise at dawn/dusk? And however it works, when do the necessary Finesse rolls happen?

Take my reply for what it's worth since I'm still pretty new to AM. But here are my thoughts.

M y gut feeling is that the image would have to be the same. And here's why: the trigger to maintain it is automatic. In other words, the trigger to use the second charge in a day happens without any input from the user, and presumably so quickly that the user couldn't react before it. (There is, after all, no flicker.) Therefore, whatever window there might have been to change the image (if indeed there ever was one) is gone in a split second and can't be used.

Based on that, I'd say that the Finesse roll would be made by the original caster who cast the original illusion, which would presumably be the magus who created it.

That's my opinion, at least.

My opinion: each time you cast the spell or activate the item anew, you can opt to choose a different face. A Finesse roll is required if you are trying to emulate a specific disguise or identity. That would be up to the guy wielding the item or casting the spell.
I Invoke Fixer, the Rules Shark

I agree. each time you cast the spell or activate the item you get to determine the face. The real question is, when do you "activate" a constant item?
