This dagger, with a handle elaborately carved from cypress wood, can catch and hold up to 3 minor magic spirits of Might 5 or less (as per The Wicked Jar, RoP:I, applying to magic spirits instead of demons) if it comes in contact with them. In order to keep them imprisoned, the user must feed the blade a drop of his own blood at dawn and dusk; otherwise, they are released. Some spirit masters of the Order give soulcatchers to their grogs, and have them roam the countryside hunting for lesser ghosts, will-o-wisps, and other minor entities - that are eventually brought back to the spirit master to be enslaved. Many a hunter became a quarry and never returned; but when a soulcatcher is forged, three arcane connections are made to it that allow tracking it down and/or magically retrieving it.
