These small star shaped tattoos inked with a mixture including ink of Hermes are enchanted as charged items. When they are activated by a command word they dispel a mentem effect upon the tattooed person of a level of 45 plus the roll of a stress die or lower. This enchantment was originally created by a not particularly powerful magus who was in conflict with a powerful faerie. The magus knew that were he to extend his parma to protect his apprentice, it would not be strong enough to protect either of them. When this laboratory text has been used by other apprentices to tattoo themselves, it has been typical practice for the Pater or Mater to use perdo mentem magic on the apprentice to remove the memory of the command word from their mind.
