[OOC] Table Talk, Volume One

Not a problem, it seemed to work out fine.

Nonna and Jonathan can put themselves back in the Master of the House thread, preferably at exactly the wrong time. Write your own entrance(s).

Korvin is not in the Hall. He is at the Mercere Chapter House.

I wasn't sure if the "house" was a separate building or merely a technical distinction - it's close enough to take the victim, so it can't be too far away, and possibly attached or immediately adjacent - I can't see dragging the poor guy any great distance in his condition. I had the image that it was a wing of the main building, but couldn't say from memory whether there's any specific reason I had that impression.

Either way, "once directed by servants" points him in the right direction, even if he started in the main building and has to travel to another.

Unless the Chapter House is off-limits to non-Mercere? (and if so, it's possible that Ilmari would not know that, nor have had any reason to enter before.)

I have it as separate from the main hall ( in my prolog and other posts) since there are scattered buildings in various states of repair on the Covenant grounds. It is on the way to the main hall as Korvin was waiting for the new Magi outside the House. It is in better repair than the other structures around it ( again from my posts).

Since Ilmari has been at the Covenant for a little while he would know where it is. since he can read tracks in the snow he would know where we have tanken the Redcap.

As to off limits....The HoH:TL does not really go into that. I've been thinking that it has a common room/Entry way that guests could gather but rooms would be considered off-limits for just wandering around. Think of it as a Inn or Private club where you are welcome to come in but to advance beyond the common room you need an escort. Falls can feel free to over-ride my foolish notions.

I will respond to your post as if you came to the Mercere House.

Falls, I am confused and lost as per what is going on exactly and where I am in all this. I humbly request a little storyguidance

In many ways, I like to compare the Order of Hermes to the Lodge. At Temple, there is a large amount of area where visitors can roam about and check things out. But the Lodge room is utterly off limits to all outsiders, excepting certain special functions. The only way an outsider can appropriately gain admission is as an Initiate, and that has a whole different set of rules. I view the OoH as a overarching secret society with a number of smaller sub-societies within (houses, cults, societates, and more). The Mercere, in my view, would most certainly welcome all magi into their outer halls, but they may have a separate inner hall for their private business.

From what you yourself have posted, Your mage is, and has been, doing his own thing.

So, he went to the very important council meeting, but refused to disrobe, and went back to the main halls.

And that's where he is- or, at least, that's where you walked him.

Yeah, and I see what exactly? What is going on there and which thread should I be in?
And I thought it was the Mercere House we returned to. I escorted a maga who also refused to disrobe.

Show some patience! The SG isn't your personal entertainer.

No one has had an update since your post - you are no more "lost" than anyone else, just waiting for the GM to post. Why are you the only one complaining? (especially since you were the most recent to post!)

Maybe you could advise me instead of criticizing me?

You would know where the Mercere House is because we took the Redcap there. The Mercere Chapter House has rules ( which I admit to making up as I go) about who can go in. Redcaps are Magi. It is not yet determined if any of the 3 Redcaps staying at the house ( plus Korvin) are members of the Covenant ( meaning sanctums in the house as well).

At the moment, without any further guidance, just accept the rules for the Mercere house as I have said. you can go in and wait in the common room/area but it would be rude to go back into the living area/offices.

 Thanks for the assistance

Mark - I'm still thinking about what I'm gonna do with Nonna. When I get that figured, I'll post. I seem to recall Falls telling us to drop in "at the worst possible moment" on the Redcap and his pronouncements of doooom.

The extra o's make it doomier.

Not to belabor the point, but just to make sure I've got this right:

Korvin and the Merceres have their own house (not far from the gate house if I remember the narrative right). Ilmari has his own sanctum, the details of which are TBD. Johnathan is residing at the manor (assuming his lab is there or that hasn't been determined yet). Everyone else is newly arrived and guesting at the manor house. All the details will be worked out once we get to the Covenant building phase.

Ilmari has a stone hut up on the valley wall, closer to the glacier line. If it has a lab in it it's gotta be pretty cramped.

I'm a little confused why we have so many prudish magi. I mean, after 15 years of apprenticeship and studying all manor of things, a little nudity may be unusual and unexpected, but in medieval society I don't think it's that shocking or disturbing. Maybe it's just personal projection, dunno.

Is it "demeaning", or what? How else would one partake of a hotspring? Not like there are clotheswashers and a towel hamper to make use of. You hang your clothes on a tree, jump in, and reverse the process when done. To say that's "traditional" isn't doing that justice.

I advise you to be patient, and when in doubt take a cue from everyone else. On that note, I advise you to look around and observe before acting. I advise you not to make demands of our SG that are above and beyond what anyone else is asking or expecting. In short, I would advise you to go with the flow.

Nonna has lived for 60 years pre-apprenticeship. As a medieval Italian, she would -never- undress in front of strangers of the opposite sex - she's too respectable by far.

Mark - we’ve been discussing via PM.

Jebrick - sounds great to me. One of my goals for this game is to have a lot of player co-authorship. Let’s assume that anyone dropping in to the Master of the House thread (which you are all free to do at any time, with IC justification) can overhear approximately what’s said between Korvin and the Redcap if they’re a little nosy, which might be cause to come into the back. Maybe you left the door ajar. Let’s assume also that there are no sancta directly involved in the current story, to avoid locking anyone out. I want to give you control of what happens in your Mercere House, but I also want to keep all possible options for juicy conflict open.

Ah - I had had the impression that she was a senior maga, not just a late apprentice. Don't know where I got that - but that makes sense.

And Jonathan?

15 years of Flambeau apprenticeship involves battle, not nudity. And like I said, jumping in for a hot tub barty with all the ladies would be awesome in his book . But asked to do so unanounced by a shriveled shivering naked man? That doesn't sound creepy to you? At first it was a No, but a willingness to reconsider if adequately explained. But when the lady also refused, I felt obligated to show solidarity and speak up on behalf of the ladies honor, as well as to offer a safe escort.

Korvin is not going to respond since he is heading to the bath meeting. Feel free to write up any interaction with the other redcaps. Ursala is in charge. Rowena and Kanutus ( male) are the other two present.

No, it sounds quite traditional, especially in a world where there are no "bathing suits" and a hotspring is an occasion for ceremony and health, not puttin' the moves on a babe. Nor is there anything like a "hot tub party" in medieval Switzerland. Dude. :unamused:

Jonathan needs to retreat to his lab and achieve a breakthru in Herbam/Aquam, the strawberry daquiri, clearly.
