Yes. If they go to Rome, going by boat would be easier. Then we could have a pool of grog staying on the boat. Anyway, if we manage to get a crew on the hauted ship

Keep in mind that bargaining in Latin is also valid for dealing with trade amongst magi and covenants.

Good point. Patrice speaks both French and Latin, and has Bargain of 3. If Palls is unable to accompany the Rome group, then Patrice can go instead. or she could go to France and let David go to Rome (his latin is better than hers).

Normally I would expect Frederic will take his shield grog Gustav with him. In this case I wouldn´t like play Gustav. I suggest someone else take him.

Pallas should be able to accompany the group. Talus won't need him in the lab.

I'm afraid I'm in the hospital with heart issues and will be until at least Wednesday. My posting may be spotty.

Here's wishing you an easy recovery. Good luck and take care.

Take care Trogdor, and a speedy recovery

Our thoughts and vis are with you.

So far so good. I'm out of the hospital and doing my best to catch up. As soon as I sort things out at work, I'll start posting.

Next two weeks I´m on a business trip. My posting frequency might decrease a bit.

I would like to apologize for basically disappearing half a year ago with no warning. I didn't intend to do so, but it was not good of me regardless. Essentially a combination of medical issues and additional and unexpected responsibilities being placed upon me left me mostly unable to spare any time for the game, but I still should have said something, nothing was stopping me from doing so. Sorry.

We understand; life is more important than a game! I hope the medical issues turned out positive and the responsibilities have led to a better life.

Now for the big question - are you able/still interested in playing?

I am, although I'm not sure where to start again.

I understand. I've just gone through a bit of that myself.

It looks like Euthymios finished out his last adventure in fall of 1220, so once we figure out where his lab is and when it was constructed (and how) we can just fill in the missing time with lab work or related seasonal activities.
Elijah does not look to me like it was finished, so we can either try and finish him and add him with a story or scrap him and make a new companion.

So I've been looking at other people's labs, and I am thinking it would probably look something like this, although I'm not sure exactly which of these would be modified by waiting for it to be built by Paphos so I'm unsure of final scores. Is there somewhere I can grab the nice template Trogdor was using for his lab stats from?

Size +5(5)

Virtues:
Auspicious Shape, minor(+1 Aesthetics, +1 Vi base)
Gallery, minor(+1 Safety, +1 Aesthetics, +1 Teaching base)
Spacious, minor(+2 Safety, +1 Aesthetics)
Well Insulated, minor(+1 Safety, +1 Aesthetics base)
Extensive Stores, minor(+2 Safety base, requires one time payment equal to yearly maintenance cost)
Superior Construction, free(+1 Safety, +1 Aesthetics base)
Grand Entrance, free(+2 Aesthetics base)

And then can we get Superior Tools and Superior Equipment from covenant members? Is that due to Talus and Tartessos using Rego craft magic? I am a little unclear on that.

Elijah wasn't finished because in the end I was feeling like he wasn't coming out the way I wanted him to. I was going to make another companion instead but had only really gotten to throwing a bunch of ideas at the wall. Still doing that now.

Right now in the "Physically building the covenant" thread I have you in Temple 1, which would mean +5 size, superior construction, statue, and crematorium along with wall carvings. It also gets the auspicious shape virtue and dedicated building:
The statue and crematorium are both greater features, either can be a greater focus depending on how you set up your lab:
the statue gives a Co bonus, the crematorium an Ig bonus

Total stats 'moved in' are:
Statue:+2 aesthetics, +3 Co (occupied size:+3)
Crematorium: +2 Aesthetics, +3 Ig (occupied size:+3)
Superior Construction: +1 safety, +1 aesthetic
subterranean: +1 upkeep, -1 health, -1 aesthetics, +1 Te
dedicated building: +1 upkeep, +1 aesthetics, +1 Re
Greater Focus: -2 General Quality, +4 (either Co or Ig) (occupied size:-3)
spacious: +2 safety, +1 aesthetic (occupied size +1)
auspicious shape: +1 aesthetics, +1 Vi (occupied size:+1)

This gives an occupied size of 5, which gives you options of:
have living space elsewhere, only 1 or lab or living quarters is your sanctum

live in the lab (replace spacious with living quarters virtue: +1 General Quality, -1 safety, -2 health, -2 aesthetics, occupied space:-1)

set aside space from the lab (250 sq ft living space if spacious virtue is dropped)

You can also take additional flaws (such as undecorated) to make additional room

Presumedly you moved in to whichever configuration works for you in summer...

Wouldn't that give me a safety of -2? An occupied size of 5 with a refinement of 0 since I haven't spent any seasons improving it, and +3 to safety from virtues adds up to -2 which doesn't seem like the best idea for me to be working in. That's also -1 health and +2 upkeep, so I might be better off with a mobile lab while waiting for something to be constructed. Assuming there's one available.

Reading the ending of the Pirates adventure, there seems to be a different interpretation of wards than I have usually seen. The usual interpretation is that a faerie can not in any way attempt to cross, or cause anything else to cross, a ward against faeries.
If that is true, either she was stronger than the ward (in which case the use of the people was gratuitous) or she should not have been able to order the people to cross it.

As I understand it, the reason for this interpretation is that otherwise, a faerie could throw rocks or other things to attack people protected by such a ward.

Are we using a different interpretation? (It would seem to help for future stories to know.)
