She gives him a dead serious stare before she speaks "Assumed me to be a commoner? After I've announced my name? Have them whipped." She acknowledges his words regarding Jacobs, though she knows that she will extract her own punishment on him. And so she smiles at him and says "But' those matters aside, I was told that you're looking for me, and so I've come, to see what it is you propose, and whether it would be in my interest to accept. But first, I'd need to freshen up, and if possible, I'd need some suitable clothes. Traveling has damaged my dress, unfortunately."
"Certainly, I will have them prepare one of the guest rooms while you bathe, if you would like, and we can discuss these things in the morning. Do you wish to observe the flogging?"
"I would be delighted to observe it."
He rings a bell and when a man arrives instructs him "Have the current gate watch replaced and brought round by the stables for discipline." He rises and holds out a hand towards Typhannie, "shall we?"
She smiles at him, and gives him her hand.
He leads you to the back of the mansion where servants have set out chairs for you along with refreshments and parasols for you to sit and observe as the two guards are striped of chainmail and shirts and tied to a post before a large man brings out a horse whip, gives a formal nod to the lord and simply gives a questioning look. "These two men failed me twice each, once by allowing a brutal exchange at my doorstep which should never have been allowed and second by failing to defend not only a visitor but a woman of noble blood whom had been proclaimed and my fiancé as well. They shall receive 30 lashes apiece." The large man nods and rises, then begins whipping the two men as though they were horses, each lash drawing blood and raising welts.
She will sit through it, though quickly enough her anger at these men abates. When the lashes are done, she will ask to speak with the two men.
"I have let my anger at the attackers extend to you. I can offer you a measure of kindness, if you wish it."
The men are in too much pain to speak but wearily nod their heads.
She will quietly cast a spell to help them recover faster from their wounds.
OOC: Purification of the Festering Wound CrCo20, but only for a +6 bonus, so it gets dropped to CrCo15.
Creo 9 + Corpus 7 (x2) + Int 2 + Magic Theory 4 = +29 Casting total.
magic theory and intelligence are not part of the casting total. It is technique+form+stamina
The spell works upon the first man, but not the second. Neither of them see an obvious effect from your casting, though everyone watches attentively and no criticisms are given. "Well, if you are satisfied, we can have your bath drawn."
Satisfied enough, and somewhat tired, she will go get her bath. She will make sure her cloak is hidden, before she steps in the bath. No need for it to be lost as well.
There are servants attending you in the bath who remove your clothes, explaining "Master has instructed we must bring you new, more appropriate clothes"
"Put that cloak in my room. Whatever your master's instructions, if it goes missing, I will be even more angry than I was at the guards at the gate." She admonishes them.
"Yes madame." The warm water feels very good after a week on the road, and one of the young maids is prepared to wash you if you wish it, having both soaps for during the bath and oils for after. When the bath is finished you are dressed in silk and wool with a surcoat lined with fox fur. Your cloak that you wore is hanging in an armoire in the bedroom. Your maid informs you that dinner is served.
She will head to dinner. Time to try and get a better measure of her betrothed.
The meal is a three course affair- a barley and beef soup followed by roast pheasant and finally finished with a cream pastry. You and your betrothed are the only ones at the table though numerous servants light candles, bring food and take the food away. He asks a few nonchalant questions about your time in Provence that seem based on rumors in the north of France rather than any actual knowledge- did you see any Cathars? Meet anyone whose children had been abducted by them? Etc.
She will answer his questions, basically saying she hasn't met any cathars.
You finish the dinner and he wishes you a good night's rest, saying he looks forward to your conversation in the morning.
Typhannie will retire to her room.
