Sharkman at Andorra (Spring 1234)

I will answer the same interoggatories on behalf of Carmen, Roberto, and Kesara.

Never!
Not that I am aware of.
No.

Absolutely not!
Not at all.
Nope.

Pfft! I highly doub it.
Not at all. My will is iron!
Tricky question. Who can say?

Never. This covenant is my life and my blood and my soul. My home.
No, my integrity is without any price.
Doubtful.

No.
Never.
I did chase Metron away once. Does combating the infernal count as consorting? If so, then only as my enemy would they ever be.

for fleur:

  • Have you ever supported a known practitioner of Diedne magic, or sympathized with the Diedne cause

"To the best of my knowledge Diedne is extinct so, I obviously haven't supported any practicioners, and I don't honestly know enough about what their cause was to support it."

  • Do you intend to deceive or harm this covenant or its members?

"Harm, no, deceive, well I don't intend to at this time, but I won't rule out some deception for surprise parties, pranks, maybe protect some marriages, nothing important though."

  • Do you think yourself the kind of person who'd have her memories temporarily tampered with in order to join a covenant and infiltrate it?

"I suppose it's possible. I mean I try to stay out of politics in general, but then again if they were tampered with I might not be the kind of person I think I am. Or maybe I just wouldn't e the same person I was. Also are we talking muto mentem, perdo mentem, or creo mentem? To the best of my knowledge this has not been done, but then again... we should move on, I could answer this question for hours, I did just finish my Bonisagus exams a few months ago."

  • Could a suitable price convince you to betray this covenant?
    "I would assume so, depending on the nature of the betrayal and the price. It would have to be a really really big price, and I really probably wouldn't be worth it."

  • Are you now, or have you ever consorted with the forces of the infernal?

"Not to my knowledge, but then I've consorted with a lot of people, so I suppose it's possible."

((It seems to me that we will need to have some tolerance for squirrely answers :laughing: ))

Speaking of squirrely answers, Vocis is in blue and Pere is in green... :slight_smile:

Never.
No.

Harm, no. Deceive, yes. All magi have their secrets. I am no different.
Certainly not harm. And I am the very soul of honesty....watches frosty breath with a smirk...So I make no promises regarding deception. I am both magus and merchant. Dishonesty is a habit.

Yes, if necessary.
Depends on the covenant. This one? No. Too many advantages to risk it.

My loyalty cannot be purchased, only given freely. As I'm sure you're aware, though, the covenant is not the only institution to which I've given my loyalty.
Of course. Every man has his price. Mine would be a very large one, of course.

While combating infernal minions during the Shadow Wars, I experienced what I assume was a Twilight event with infernal characteristics. Since then I have been unable to create magical flames that do not look like the fires of Hell. It's possible this event was a touch from the Infernal rather than an ordinary Twilight. It was not willing, nor have I ever willing consorted with forces of the infernal.
Not to my knowledge. All of my vices were freely chosen.

Q&A for Vibria

  • Have you ever supported a known practitioner of Diedne magic, or sympathized with the Diedne cause?
    [color=red]"Definitely not."
  • Do you intend to deceive or harm this covenant or its members?
    [color=red]"No, I don't."
  • Do you think yourself the kind of person who'd have her memories temporarily tampered with in order to join a covenant and infiltrate it?
    [color=red]"No, I don't."
  • Could a suitable price convince you to betray this covenant?
    Vibria thinks about this before she answers. [color=red]"How much are we talking about? And would Andorra have a chance for a counter-offer?"
  • Are you now, or have you ever consorted with the forces of the infernal?
    [color=red]"No I'm not, and no I haven't."

Q&A for Fédora

  • Have you ever supported a known practitioner of Diedne magic, or sympathized with the Diedne cause?
    [color=blue]"No I haven't, on either count."
  • Do you intend to deceive or harm this covenant or its members?
    [color=blue]"No. I would have no opportunity to make Andorra the hub of the Order if I did her harm."
  • Do you think yourself the kind of person who'd have her memories temporarily tampered with in order to join a covenant and infiltrate it?
    [color=blue]"I treasure all of my memories too much to allow anything to happen to them."
  • Could a suitable price convince you to betray this covenant?
    [color=blue]"No, my integrity would cost more than anyone could hope to afford."
  • Are you now, or have you ever consorted with the forces of the infernal?
    [color=blue]"No."

So, I presume Acutus is voted in, and the magi finish council having a new suspicion of each other.
At some point Carmen takes Pere aside and discusses some of his responses.

I have my eyes on you :imp:

Pere looks (somewhat theatrically) saddened and nods. I expected as much, Mistress. I would prefer that I could tell you I am a paragon of virtue who would tear out his own heart before turning his back on his sodales, but it simply isn't true. As I said, every man has his price. I can't tell you what mine would be, but I'm certain it exists. I'm also certain a price exists for everyone who provided assurances under questioning, despite their obvious beliefs to the contrary. Don't trust any of us, Mistress. Not completely. Not even yourself.

I see.
So tell me again about that conversation you had with Farusca. What was she proposing?

Pere laughs. Several things Mistress, most of them foolish. Her initial goal seemed to be keeping me as a member of Barcelona and recruiting Fleur out from under you. When those failed, she complained about you somehow cheating her in the Sa Dragonera deal by claiming too much vis for expenses. While such a thing would be no more than she deserved, it seemed to me that she just didn't understand exchange rates. Arithmetic is not her strong suit, I'm afraid. Once she accepted that neither of these were getting her anywhere, she offered to retroactively elevate me to Senior status with Barcelona. I accepted this, since it doesn't seem to conflict with my new oaths here. I will be considered a former Senior in Barcelona with no obligations to the covenant. Or at least, none that I'll bother to recognize. I'm willing to run the arrangement by Master Solomon if you like.

Her primary goal with all of this was for me to be her informant with the Andorra hierarchy. I assured her I would give her whatever information I could without betraying confidences. In truth, I plan to tell her whatever you want me to tell her. She threw away a golden opportunity for Barcelona by handing you Sa Dragonera from a position of weakness. A real covenant would have recruited new members and staked their own claim to the wealth they found. Farusca simply didn't have the courage to do what was necessary. I'll happily assist you in making her pay for it.

Farusca is eternally suspicious and likes to micromanage everything, even though she is not the one in charge any more. She likes to work behind the scenes. And you surly know that Barcelona lacks the resources for colonization. That is why she turned to us. And I have no desire to cheat her or feed her misinformation.
What concerns me is you are willing to be set to do so, and that you stated in so many words that your loyalty is for sale. I value honesty and integrity, and ethical Hermetic behavior. Virtue United is Stronger. Never forget that.
