As a preview to the HK TF 88, I used

  • The 36th Chamber of Shaolin
  • Big Trouble in Little China
  • Kung Fu Hustle
  • The Matrix
  • The Killer

My players haven’t watched very many movies. Times change and YT has taken over their spare hours. They watch shorts or historical documentaries. They’re getting a good sense of the genre now. We handed out character sheets last week and I have one Maverick Cop and one Full Metal Nutball posing as a cop on the task force. I asked the guys to tell me their buy-in as their homework assignment.

Fantastic list of films. I would throw in Rumble in the Bronx, myself- or any other 90’s era Jackie Chan film.

The One, starring Jet Li, and the Master of Tai Chi (there are two movies with this name, and I'm thinking of the one not with Jet Li, but it does have a cult of evil witches and a giant silkworm that spits giant blobs of silk to immobilize opponents; though the Jet Li one is also pretty great) both feel extremely Feng Shui to me.

I know the original post to this thread was almost a year ago, but how’s the game going/or did it go?

I think it's action movie day + Feng Shui on Sundays. I can most def add The One! TY for the advice!

The One is tremendous. It does suffer a little from being clearly a late 90s/early 2000s "CGI by the lowest bidder" sort of film. But Jet Li is great in it, and you get to see Jason Stratham with hair!

BTW: here are the two "Tai Chi Master" movies I mentioned:

Tai Chi Master with the giant worm

Tai Chi Master with Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh

Both are completely worth watching, and a lot of fun. The first one feels a lot more "Feng Shui" to me, but they're both fab.
