Did you mean Princeps? I think that everything was changed, but I'm not clear on what date the changes took effect, but I'm pretty sure it was before 1227, as Korvin was acting as Princeps, and Fiona and Tranquillina had adopted their official duties, and I was thinking that you had even RP'ed as your offical self in the cuts like butter thread.
I did mean Princeps, as I was typing it I was thinking that wasn't right.
But, still, he'll mainly heal and contemplate, I'll send an official letter and post it soon, I just need to get the name of that book. He'll likely send a copy to Val Negra and maybe Castra Solis (not the Domus Magna, but they might have a copy), and also his Pater Tristan.
Do the rules for Dimicatio as done in the tournament prohibit spending vis? The 'default' rules allow it.
Would the Quaesitorial spell pick up on traces of vis use?
If Valerian's Re and Te are in the mid-20s he could have added 100 to his roll from vis alone. Coming up with 50 pawns in the vis-starved Normandy tribunal would have been difficult but not impossible.
However, if he tried to acquire the vis recently, that could have created a shortage and thus left tracks. Did the Mercere raise the exchange rate on Re or Te vis recently, by any chance?
((From Horse of a Different Color, I can't post there now))
Regarding vis Alexei will abstain from the decision process of what we take. I (and he) think that he screwed over the covenant last time by taking all of the prize vis in Intelego. He'll still take his share but you guys can decide what the prize vis we take is.
I figure Calerian has a Terram of about 30-40 and Creo of 15-20. I firgure he can get to 50 or 60 on a die roll with no problem. Spending vis could raise it up if he spent between 15-25 but how did his sigil get distorted?
"Foil the Prying Guernicus", CrMe (Re) ??
Creates a "shell" of surface thoughts, emotions, and memories within the caster's mind, that serves as the first line of defense against InMe spells. The caster's 'real' mind is still awake, aware, and can direct the 'shell' on what thoughts/emotions to exhibit (hence the Rego requisite). Capable of foiling spells up to half its level, by analogy with similar CrVi guidelines.
Prolonged use is not recommended, as it can lead to Disassociative Identity Disorder, or (in a Criamon) manifest as an adulteration.
Botching this spell is really, really not recommended.
Just FYI, we have a stomach bug going through the family and work has been kicking my but the last several days. And now I'm getting the bug. That and I'd been putting finishing touches on the stories before I roll them out. The magi do need to spend their prize pawns.
Sorry to hear about the bug, JL. I'm nursing a cold and general fatigue (both, I suspect, from a full weekend of dancing).
We should spend the prize pawns, yes: Tranquillina's only request is a new Corpus tractatus.
We should also do the Mons Electi vis accounting we've been putting off until the Tribunal was over. Do we have the final tally of what vis was spent on Tribunal preparations? IC, Tranquillina doesn't want anything to do with vis stores, but OOC I'm happy to contribute to the allocation effort.
I added a line to the vis spreadsheet: Tranquillina spent a dozen pawns or so over the past couple of years. Otherwise, her character is such that she's perfectly content to just keep an account of how much vis she's owed (24 more pawns, as of mid-1227) and let it sit in storage unless she needs it. (OOC, this might or might not be the ideal way to treat vis allotments.)
Jebrick mentioned a 'super book on Rego' in another thread. I went to see what he was talking about.
"Ooh, I want to read that!"
"Dude, chill. You couldn't pull off a 2nd magnitude Rego effect unless it was Mentem or Imagonem. Relax."
"I don't care, it's in Greek, I want to read it! Come on, what's the worst thing that could happen?"
"You're my character, you're going to do as I say."
"No, I won't. You're my typist, you're going to type what I tell you to type!"
Note from a teacher? I got that!
Note from a teacher that says I should be allowed to see restricted books or play with sharp objects? Ummm... that might be more of a problem.
(Speaking of Benet -- I assume that's who you meant by 'teacher' -- have you folks established how long ago he left the University of Paris? No big deal, just curious.)
