Table Talk - Development

That's pretty much what I thought. I'm doing her "Lost Voice Years" as one cycle (1234-1242).

Would she do aging in a cycle or yearly? (Any further questions I'll put in her development page, just to get it off of Page 6 of the table of contents).

So first three seasons of development
1 write mastery book for healing spell
2 people practice mastery for disease cure spell
3 write mastery book on that spell

Only 5.25 years to go! But this leads to another question could cecilio find volunteers for experimental longevity rituals? She would probably need some e to pay the costs, but she can do it for less than anyone else. Original research for fertility rituals since lrs mess with fertility?

Still wondering if I should Stat up an island?

Aging during chargen (cycles) is done per cycle and is based on a score instead of a roll. The bulk system as introduced in grogs. To simplify, don't worry if she is under 40 and/or on longevity. just add appropriate warping and arbitrarilly designate an apparent age that is plausible.

For Cecelio...
Tricky things such as original research experiments and such should be done in play. The chargen system is not elastic enough to handle thos properly.
And you do not have to / get to stat an island. The Balearics have been there for countless ages. You will get Frerika4 old spot, which is (I think) Lucas' old spot. Nice digs. I think it is a manor or something. You can reconfigure and change stats as you desire, but save that for in game after you are assigned the location.

On the topic of in game assignment do you want to skip ahead a little in chapter V to the official interview step? Unless someone wants to delve deeper into Cecilio's poor sense of what is normal. :stuck_out_tongue:

Edit: Also isn't Cecilio sort of out of chardev? I'm really just using this as a place to spit ball ideas. Although, since original research is a lot of lab work I'm not sure how well it can be done "in play". Drumming up "volunteers" and stuff can certainly be done in play. Great interaction and story potential! I mean we have Cecilio begging Redcaps/random-people for business, begging the other magi for vis, longevity specialists annoyed about being under cut and so forth.

Once she's old enough (I'm a little lost now), arachné would give Eva for this, and pay the costs.

Woo! First customer!

Anyway plans for development up through 1241

Its a tentative partially complete plan. Any comments? Stuff I missed? Purity will probably spend her time setting up labs or writing tractatus. The library doesn't have any books on hunting! How does this happen?

Altered Purity's schedule a little. You know what's better than one lab? Multiple highly specialized labs!
Here are the lab projects I've been considering. Cecilio was hoping to always be doing original research, so each one has a part that gives a suggestion for what the points could contribute towards. I know you want there to be ic results for original research. I'm not sure how much you can do for actual laboratory things IC, but talking about ideas, drumming up test subjects, or even just the fallout of being working on something new. Might the Great Library get jealous?
I'm not sure if that's making sense? Am I making sense?

Warp Injector
CrVi 20, Unlimited Uses/Day, 0 Penetration
Range: Touch D: Mom T: Ind
This simple brass wand has two distinct ends. One end tappers to a dull point, and the other has a symbol inscribed on it. Pressing the symbol gives one warping point to whatever is touched. The intended purpose is to warp lab ingredients before use, record the changes and see how it effects your experiments. +2 to the Experimentation specialty of the lab it is used in.
Base 5 + 1 touch, +10 levels for unlimited uses.
Original Research: Fertility Magic - warping is changing essential nature, sort of the goal of fertility magic. Alternatively, integrating Inventive Genius

Chalice of Blood
CrCo(Vi) 25 One Use/Day, 0 Penetration
Range: Touch Duration: Sun Target: Ind
This is a Chalice carved from Bloodstone, this fills with human blood upon command. The blood is suitable for any mystic purposes regular blood is, although when the duration of this effect end, there will likely be side effects. For example, a faerie who feeds on blood would find their thirst unquenched again when the sun sets. For hermetic magi the main benefit is corpus research adding 1 to both a lab's corpus specialty and experiment specialty.
Base 5 +1 touch, +2 sun, +1 vim Req
Original Research: Fertility Magic - mainly because its blood and fertility magic can affect traits passed down by blood

I'm hungry. So I'll stop here.

Are there stats somewhere for Fleur's dragon-kitties that I've missed, or should I just start from scratch?

Start from scratch. Felecia is the mther. Maurice is the father, though in-game nobody knows this yet and some suspect cidito.

So, basically, start with a cat and throw some dragon stuff into the petri dish?

two magic cats then throw some dragon in...

Basically, yeah
In the Andorra Bestiary, there is a new Virtue/Quality named "Chimera". Basically you start with the traits of one beast (a Cat in this case), add the natural qualities of the second (pick like a half dozen or so "natural qualities" that a firedrake has that a cat would not, including the wings). And when all is said and done, add a +1 to a Physical Characteristic.
The cat has a Might score. It may or may not have fire related powers. But it is resistant or even immune to flame. One trait I know for sure that would make sense is the Shapeshifter Virtue. Papa had it when he took on cat form to mate with momma. Kitteh developed it reflexively to socialize with other cats and to fool birds, taking on a normal cat shape as suits.

Ketteh needs a name and a gender and a personality. On top of stats and such.

His name is Felix (short for Draco Felix), which apparently means both happy and lucky in Latin. I'm (finally) transcribing my Vibria war story, so I'll try to get Felix statted out this weekend.

Happy Lucky Dragon-Cat

Most Excellent

In Vibria's war story, one thing I tried to forshadow but never worked out in game...

The dragon ring, the finger she wore it on was the same one that was magically regrown/reattatched by Vulcanus after that one incedennt waaaay early back when. That ring, the one she was woe to give up, was either willingly or accidentally discarded when that finger was lost agin in battle.
Maybe if you could squeezze that in,
If not, no worries. I will get that finger from you one way or another :smiling_imp:

That finger (the index finger of her right hand )was re-attached with The Severed Limb Made Whole (the second time they tried it; the first one resulted in Vibria getting about three cup sizes larger).

I think I figured out where to fit it in. It will take a bit of a rewrite of one scene, but it's doable. It will involve her totally losing that finger (as in, she has no idea where it is...or the ring, either).

Now, if I recall correctly, there's not really a Hermetic way to regrow a lost finger (or any other body part), correct? So, she's been sans digit for a while.

Isn't regrowing a finger akin to the Limb restored spell; or do you mean regrowing like a lizard? (Perhaps a Muto spell )

The Severed Limb Restored just allows you to re-attach a lost limb. I was looking for one that actually allowed you to regrow (like the proverbial lizard's tail).

One could creo a new finger, but that is not what the standard spell does. It would require a new original spell. I know Pietro of Flambeau has such a spell. He tried it on Marie Norris waaaaaay back when this saga first began.
As far as there being a time limit, if there is one, I would imagine one has a season or two at the most before it scars over permenant and counts as your essential nature.
Not part of paradigm, but it has been discovered that humans can regenerate, but only if the genetic scar trigger is suppressed. Regenerating is the natural original state. Scarring was developed as a defense against infection.
Anyway...
The missing finger is not a flaw or even a significant disadvantage. It is up to you how you want to play it out. There is no game mechanic effect to be applied or ignored. It is purly a cosmetic thing.

Granted, I just did a cursory search for "Marie Norris" then "Pietro"...but wasn't that a Perdo Vim to undo the Faerie curse that took her hands or something?

While there was healing magic available to the Hermetic forces after the battle, I don't know how "cutting edge" that magic would have been.

The more I think about it, though, the more the notion of Vibria be missing that finger grows on me.

With your association with the top hierarchy, it would be as cutting edge as needed. But there are also plenty of reasons why such was not available quickly enough. such as only having so many pawns of corpus to go around and a lot of injuries to mend that she may have felt were much more serious and important than her finger.

The story with Marie was a very long time ago and I may not remember correctly. I think he tried a Creo spell that was twarted by the curse and tried to crush the curse but failed.
I think...
