The council chamber

Guglielmo already has an Int of 3, and is 55, so he would be willing to step aside. Besides he is the only one of the original vintners taking warping from the aura...

Now it occurs to me, but would a MuCo Spont that reduced size to -2 or -3 be a legal way to fit more people inside the circle? 8) Seems cheesy.

So a MuCo 20/25/30 (R:Touch D:Sun T:Circle or Group or Room, depending on roll, base 3 +1 extra shrinking) to shrink to -4? Dang, have much to learn in Ars Magica regular tricks like these. Gloriana has Mu 6 + Co 30 +5 Sta + 6 Aura + 9 AL/P + 2 vigorous gestures/loud voice, bah, so simple, really.

Mercurio is definitely in on this! I just wasn't assuming the young companions would be informed of it going on without a magus intervention - Magi tend to not consider anyone below 35 a full person. :stuck_out_tongue:

Presumably he goes into Twilight as soon as he finishes the labwork. Soo... about 10 days before winter.

seems functional to me. You could even learn it as a regular spell if we are going to be doing this often. Just make sure not to shrink the casting magus or it will also be harder to draw the circle of that size.
Of course for target individual you could make the casting magus larger...

Andros presents Neleos as his Apprentice to all the Magi in the Fall of 1130. He has already Opened Neleos's Arts at this point. He will be sharing Andros's Parma almost always for his apprenticeship.
"A scrawny child, to be sure, but I have got quite the regimen planned that will transform him into a proud Flambeau. Can you believe he had been originally claimed by a Tytalus, but he quite lost track of the child, and never Opened his Arts. Which I, Andros ex Flambeau have done!"

Aurthor, warmly welcomes the new apprentice!

(We can finally free Neleos from the vague condition of "future apprentice" in the people of Praesidium Orae wiki page!)

Neleos seems surprisingly un-awed by the presence of so many powerful magi at once as he's presented to the council(due to Covenant upbringing). Quiet, awkwardly polite, frowning a lot and staring at Andros during the meeting. He will thank the council as a whole for their welcome (not that they had a choice, since Andros did all of the 'staking claim' already), his Latin skilled but accented heavily in Greek. When he's not watching Andros, the young child is actually looking around everywhere, though his childish frown never really leaves.

Oliverius welcomes the young man gruffly. "You will have a good apprenticeship here. I'm sure you'll be behaved and not cause any trouble that Magus Andros didn't set you to." He gives Andros a good nod of exaggerated approval.

news of 1130:
within the covenant a great many covenfolk have developed horses hooves and tails, which has caused some mild unrest and distress amongst the covenfolk

Honorius II died in a secluded monastery following a long and painful illness, and was cremated soon thereafter. Following his death two councils elected separate popes, the one, a council of 8 cardinals, elected Pope Innocent II, but the council electing this pope barred a large number of cardinals by force of arms from participating, and these excluded cardinals elected Anacletus II as pope. The majority of cardinals support Anacletus II over Innocent II. Rome has been left in chaos over many of Honorius policies and his choices to rule as he was elected pope- by force of arms and political intrigue. Innocent has had to flee north of the Alps while Anacletus holds power in Rome, and has proclaimed Roger II king of Sicily, who has announced support for Anacletus II. Both papal claimants are competing for the support of Lothaire II, apparent heir to the title of Holy Roman emperor despite the continuing opposition of Conrad III.

The Dutchy of Amalfi has rebelled against the reign of Roger II, who is again raising an army to meet this upstart duke in the spring of 1131.

In the winter of 1131 Gerasimo the vintner has fallen gravely ill. He is 65 years old, but can still be saved with a level 35 CrCo ritual. Lucio reports "His loss would negatively impact our wine production, but only to the point that some of the teamsters serving the covenant would have to drink lower quality wine without the health benefits. My predecessor and I have prepared the covenant for the worst, should it come, and the decision is purely one of humanitarian interests versus whatever costs your arcane arts might require."

Gloriana can spont such a Ritual in her Lab, and it would cost 6 vis total, if this is approved (spend 1 short-term+2 Long-Term Fatigue).

Aurthor approves!

at least 2 more magi need to approve this, or I roll for a medical solution.

Oliverius approves; He values good crafts such as the vinter's work.

current vote count:
Anna Romano absent or abstain
Gloriana Sentis of Merinita, approve
Evandrus of Merinita, absent or abstain
Aurthor ex Misc approve
Andros ex Flambeau absent or abstain
Danaë of Mercere absent or abstain
Oliverius ex Verditius approve

4 approval votes are required. This has been posted (real time) for 1 week. In 1 day I will consider it to be the final count.

Andros and Danaë approve, gotta keep our good wine!

okay, go ahead and roll for Gloriana's casting

Just to confirm, 'abstain/absent' votes basically count as votes against for the purposes of the council votes?

Gloriana Spont 35 Ritual cast ceremonially: (CrCo 64 + 6 aura + 5 Sta + 9 AL/Phi + 5 Props + _: 1D10 = [7] = 7)/2 = 48, more than enough, she spends 1 Long Term Fatigue for Ritual, 1 Long Term Fatigue to substitute 1 pawn of Co, + 1 Short term Fatigue to divide by 2. So the covenant only has to pay 3 pawns (I had miscounted, Mercurian discount off of 7 magnitudes is 4 price, -1 Gloriana pays = 3). This also adds +1 Warping point to the vintner, as it is a spell above magnitude 5.
