The Grand Tribunal and the Hiberian invasion

"Yeah, definitely couldn't have done it without you two," Sionnach replies as he sits down, panting from having escaped in such a hurry. "So, what should we do to ensure it doesn't get summoned back?"

"We could find an Aegis to hide under. I'm unsure who might be alright with letting us in for the moment near here. The Flambeau might though."

«Lambaird? Yeah, maybe. If they won't let us in, we could drop the spoon into their Aegis and leave it.»

«Or, did we want to use it as a Cathach? Then we need to get cattle, and a suitable location.»

"I am unsure about using it as a Cathach but I believe we must hold onto the item for now but the start of the year of protecting could only begin once we are magi... or is it after the next Tribunal? Either way, we need to find a place to store it."

[OOC: Yes, I could look it up but since Bran doesn't have a lick of Code of Hermes he's going to say this anyway.]

«Absolutely, Bran. Can anyone do some sort of Rego circle ward, to lock the spoon inside? May I have a look by the way?»

Arnar (presumably) takes the spoon and studies it. Has he seen any triggers used by the old magus, that he might be able to repeat?

He could see the magus point the scoop of the spoon towards where the chest would appear and say something, but it was not loud enough for him to catch the words. To make the chest disappear he tapped the base of the spoon (which has a rock imbedded in it) to the chest while he said something- presumably something different.

Was Bran able to hear the command words? He was definitely much closer when he used the spoon.

unless he was within about 2 feet he had no opportunity to hear them

«I can fly off and hide it on a mountain top, here or in Wales,» says Arnar, «but if he can summon it, and he probably can, that won't help the slightest. Would it help to bury it, you think?»

OOC. How does teleport spells work in the setting? Can you teleport out of a solid box? Or is it merely extremely quick, faster than light, but continuous, travel?

you can teleport something out of a solid box. Regios are variable- some can be teleported into or out of, others cannot.

I don't suppose we know a regio, do we?

[So what sort of roll might it be to find a regio? Could we use AL: Hibernia or would it have to be (realm) Lore for whichever realm we're looking for?

area lore, target 12 in Hibernia

[Bran's roll was 8. I included his spec of Legends. One short of enough to spend a confidence for success. NOOOOOO!]

"I can't think of any likely regios to store this in around here." Bran says.

[Got one less myself, damnit.]

"Neither do I," he says himself. "If we go for hiding it in an aegis are we sure it will count? Don't most covenants keep their cathach just outside of it? Don't think that's just a coincidence but I'm not familiar enough with the peripheral code to say if it's actually official or not."

"I also don't know the code very well but my guess is we need to defend it for a year and a day once we swear the Oath and are magi. Then we can declare ourselves a covenant so it needs to be stored until then. We can then make the declaration. We need to find a site to form a covenant anyway," says Bran, "I've never heard of a covenant being formed by those on their Macgnimartha."

«I may know something, ... an old rumour out by the coast.¹ I have not visited it, but I think we can find it with a little effort. Let's go for it, and then we can think about cattle and land afterwards. Plenty to do before the Oath.»

¹ Rolled 9 + Confidence. Speciality is Coast (not included) so I suppose that's where he is most likely to know something.

"Sounds good to me. I think that a regio is a better option for hiding this than within some covenant's Aegis. I would not want the good Irish Magi to be targeted by the owner's wrath. Perhaps it would be best if you flew there ahead of us, Arnar. It might be best if we can put the spoon in the Regio before he wakes."

«I can do that. What do you think, Sionnach?»

The location is Slieve Foy
