[That seems like it's right on top of or next to Qui Sonant... darn it to heck, probably not an ok site for a covenant then.]
- How far is it from Qui Sonant?
- How far is it from where we are? (in days of pedestrian travel)
"That sounds like a plan, lead the way."
It is about 5 miles east of Qui Sonnet, about 90 miles away from where you are as the eagle flies, slightly further by road
[So 4.5-5 days travel by foot? Foot is 20 miles a day, correct? Or am I misremembering?]
That is correct
Arnar gives the details to his companions. «I can probably fly in a day, and take the spoon with me. I am not sure it is wise to enter an unknown regio on my own though, and I take it, you would need five days. It is almost on the doorstep of Qui Sonant. Who takes the spoon?»
"I truly worry that should he wake he will merely summon his spoon and none of us will not be able to resist his spell. It is likely not the wisest course, that may be merely returning it to them, but if this is the course we are following I would hope to not lose our trophy too quickly. Which means we need to hide it in a regio as quickly as possible and I think you should fly ahead to place the spoon at Slieve Foy."
«Very well. I shall take the spoon, and see if I can manage on my own. Wish me luck.»
Arnar packs his bag, which he can carry with the porter's touch spell, strapping the spoon on the outside. As they are having a quick meal before they part, he asks, «where will you be in the meantime? Where do we meet again?»
“I was thinking we would head there, to Slieve Foy,” Bran looks questioningly at Sionnach, “I believe the best roads would take us through Dublin. Either you could wait there or try to find us on the road, perhaps if I wore something colorful you could distinguish from the air...”
Arnar smiles. «That's a good idea. If I have trouble with the regio, I may try to hide the spoon at Qui Sonant. Temporarily. Now, show me what you would be wearing.»
When everything is settled, Arnar changes, taking his pack magically in his claws, and making his way North, just straying quickly over the harbour to see if any more aliens are arriving on their dear island.
Bran pulls out a large floppy sun hat, like fishermen or peasants might wear while working. “It’s only brown but I could mark the top with an X.”
"That should be a good meeting spot," Sionnach said with a nod. "I'm familiar enough with Dublin to find a high enough place for you to see us and us to meet up."
"If you do feel the need to stash the spoon at Qui Sonant, it would likely be best to not get any of the magi of that covenant involved."
"If we are meeting in Dublin we could discuss a particular place, perhaps one that offers Arnar a bed," Bran says while obviously not really understanding the mentality of many Bjornaer, "I was more thinking in case he heads back this way sooner as Dublin is still 3 or 4 days travel for us."
«I hope I can hide it inside the Aegis but outside the buildings. I suppose, since they have to walk the perimeter, they must leave some ground between the wall and the aegis boundary. They don't protect the graveyard with an aegis, do they?»
[@silveroak I, the player, do not know the answer to that question but I think Bran would know having spent his apprenticeship at Qui Sonant Pro Quieto.]
It does not, since the aura expands when a new corpse is interred, and the aegis cannot so adapt. However the aura has other useful traits which will protect the spoon...
"How could I be so dumb," Bran says mostly to himself then looking Arnar right in the eye, "No, you should take it to Qui Sonant. The aura there is special and keeps any arcane connection from working there. It is why those buried there can not be summoned without The Chain. It would not even need to be within the Aegis, buried anywhere within the aura will provide more protection against summoning it or finding it than any Aegis could."
«Ah ... of course ... brilliant idea. I'll go and execute straight away. See you in Dublin.»
Arnar packs up and changes, and flies off. After a quick detour to scout out for any new intruders, he heads straight for Qui Sonant.
"Well, I guess that's that. Should we get moving Sionnach? We have days of walking ahead of us."
