Moving closer to the flame his shivering decreases. "We will not know until we try. I'm unsure how you would expect the rest of us to get up there. I could not spontaneously cast a spell to lift myself up. perhaps if you hopped though with one end of a rope, the other tied to a tree or stone..."
«What I tried to say is that I have a spell to lift you on a gust of air. Only caveat is that it is not designed to be gentle.
«We may want to look around for other solutions first. What have you found so far?»
[Side note I forgot, when Bran stopped reciting poetry to speak normally the light from the stone stopped.]
"I haven't been able to determine anything yet but the face gives me an uneasy feeling like it's watching. Perhaps I should attempt to speak to it?"
«Hmm.» Arnar moves over for a closer look. «Maybe you should,» he mumbles absent-mindedly.
"What was the story you remembered about this place that led you to think there might be a Regio here?"
[OOC, I forget if Silveroak said anything about that but might be useful if we are trying to talk to this being.]
In case I haven't mentioned it, this is supposed to be the site of a battle between Finn Mac Cool and the Giant of Winter. Finn threw a huge rock and hit the giant on the head, killing him, then laid down for a rest following the exertion and is said to still be sleeping at Slieve Martin.
OOC. Previously you called it Slieve Foy ... now Slieve Martin. Is that the same thing?
Arnar recounts the story, as best he can, to answer Bran's question. «Maybe that face is Finn's!? What do you think?»
[Ooc: I assumed Slieve Martin is a different mountain]
"That seems likely," then turning back towards the face he says in Gaelic, "Hello, Giant of Winter? Can you hear us?"
slieve Maryin is across the bay from Slieve Foy
«Or maybe the face is the giant's, if Finn is across the bay at Slieve Martin,» mumbles Arnar under his breath. He does not speak up lest he disturb Bran's conversation.
[Sorry Was confused for a moment. I meant to adress the face with the Giant's name if it's known beyond "Giant of Winter."]
It's a gaelic name that translates to "giant of Winter" essentially.
[Ok. Edited what Bran says to say "Giant of Winter."]
Louder this time, as if trying to wake a heavy sleeper, Bran says, "Giant of Winter? Can you hear me? Are you awake?"
There is a short rise in the wind howling through the cave, which may or may not be coincidence.
At the moment he can feel the wind, Arnar casts an Intellego Auram Spell, to sense the source and cause of the wind.
OOC1. I hope the wind is not so brief that I need to look up the fast cast rules ...
OOC2. Base 4. Learn all mundane properties of the air. Have an intuition about some
fact regarding the air. Touch/Conc makes L10. If he manages 15, maybe base 5 gives a more effective understanding. Rolls 33 if the Aura is 4. Level 14.
The wind is an eddy of the chamber of summer breezes interacting with some kind of mentem effect in the cavern.
«yikes» Arnar bursts out, before he composes himself and explains to the others. «There is some Mentem effect here ... interacting with my spell.»
Bran- make a perception+artes liberales roll, target 9.
