Fearing my reach may exceed my grasp here... Luckily, for now, Andorra is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay easier for me to follow than bibracte.
I'd like Arachné to go on Mission Impossible (in a way, she is suited for this), and she will be interested by the vault, in that there may be items here that can be used to bolster the covenant's magical defenses (which is her mandate here).
Otherwise, she is there to stay in the lab and craft traps
[tab][/tab]So, I unstickied the characters
Sticky threads are now for stories in play. The Drake hunt is a sticky untill we tie up the loose ends, then I'll unstick it.
[tab][/tab]I want to set up threads for the stories to take place between now and 1235. Exactly when whithin this frame is not yet established. I need your input as to how you want to pulse things. Maybe you need two years before you jump into an adventure, maybe something needs to be resolved right away. I don't want every character in every story, but I want everyone to be in at least one story. As for timing, we play them all right away. Which is why it is best to have different characters in different stories, you only have to follow events that your character is involved in. But within the cycle (1230 to 1235), they take place at different points in the sequence.
[tab][/tab]These are my thoughts so far, listing the proposed titles, who I would like to see in that story, and a short synopsis of what the McGuffin is all about. An Impossible Mission
[tab][/tab]A story to be run by Ryu (if still interested, pretty please run a story ). I want to play Carmen as a PC in this, and Arachne (Fixer) has expressed interest. I think it would be great fun to involve Estaban in this (he and Carmen can play off their Gentle Gift/Blatant Gift dynamic in a Monte Carlo type social setting maybe). I can see many others being interested in this as well. This can take place anywhere within the cycle, right away or next year or in three, whatever works the best. Redcap Conference
[tab][/tab]Tiana and Fedora need to deal with this Mercere House situation. Your mission was to catalogue the assets and make sure they were secure. The Mercere were thinking of moving them to a safer location, but the fact that they were untouched even though the covenant was attacked should indicate that they are pretty secure. You just need to convince them of that, because staying here at Andorra is a pretty cush post and full of andvancment/command opportunity. This should take place sooner rather than latter. Midnight in Duresca
[tab][/tab]Solomon is summoned to Duresca to participate in a legal discussion concerning an issue with Barcelona Covenant. Guillaume is summoned by the Hoplites for another purpose, planning how to insure Iberia is clensed of Shadows. Kesara tags along. And [spoiler]meets Metron[/spoiler]. This can also take place at any time, no need to get to it right away. Circle of Light
[tab][/tab]Sometime within the next few years, the Knights of Seneca will gather here to meet and discuss nominating a new Grandmaster. This doesn't have to be a big deal, but it can be if you guys want. Vault of Valdarius
[tab][/tab]Almost ready to go on this, just waiting for a book to be delivered...
[tab][/tab]We can go at this right away, or we can sit on information while something incubates. This story is primarilly focused on Vulcanus, but can involve anyone (or everyone, if we put it towards the end of the cycle). The Dragon's Promise
[tab][/tab]Sigmundo makes good on his promise to help rebuild Andorra's Library, and to allow each magus to read one season from his own library. And this is the way it will go down. Each magus that was in on the Drake Hunt gets to visit the dragon one season. They bring with them one book from our library, and Sigmundo will either repair or replace it. Then they are granted to spend one season with any book they choose from his library, to study or copy as they wish. You can do this one at a time or in groups, and for the most part we can just handwave this.
[tab][/tab]But when it is Vibria's turn (any season within this cycle), something dratically unexpected will happen. This will affect Vibria and anyone who tags along, so if you are up for an unexpected adventure involving draconic mysteries, then hop on. Chapter III (1230-1235)
[tab][/tab]The sandbox roleplaying thread I was talking about. Just freeform stuff that we can use to inspire storys or just have fun with. I Need Ideas
[tab][/tab]I want everyone in at least one story, so if you don't see one here that interests you or fits your style, let me know and we can conjure something up. Or you can just wait passively and we will force something on you. I have compiled a list of Story Flaws and Covenant Hooks
[tab][/tab]And any of you are invited to run a story of your own devising, or even just start doing something and require that I react to you for a change.
I) The Ennemy Within
In Arachné's Background, I had this menace against the order, that destroyed at least 2 covenants, one of them being Arachné's old covenant, Insidiae, after the attackers managed to track them down here.
What is this menace? I did my best to keep it vague, but as I see it, it could be greek muspelli, amazons, or infernalists. Maybe even magi, renounced or not: Maybe there's a hidden covenant of renounced or infernal magi down there, that want to keep their existence a secret. Note that infernalism can cross genres.
Why did they destroy the first covenant? Did they uncover something they shouldn't have, or was that the first strike in a war vs the OoH?
Why did they attack Insidiae? Is it to try to keep their existence a secret, was it just another strike against a covenant, or did Arachné, her sodales, or one of their grogs bring something back?
Are there other covenants that where attacked? Not that arachné knows, but, then...
Magvillus knows about this, the maga of Insidiae worked for them. What do they do?
II) The Abyss of Time
Arachné's spirit companion, Melantha, claims to be one of her ancestors, and already lead them through a quest to reclaim her link to her greek ancestors. As I see it, she was part of some magical cult, and may know ancient bits of cult lore she may want arachné to recover and bring to life again, or ancient dangers she wants taken care of. If someone wants to do something in Greece, be it with gods or monsters, here's your cue. This may be linked to the previous hook: Maybe her cult sought to stop the titans from returning, or to help them unsit the upstart greek gods.
III) No Sympathy for the Devil
Okay, in her Diabolic Past, there's this idea of a cult that targets apprentices and young magi for recruitment, because that's when they are the most vulnerable, both to promises of power and psychologically. This can be used in various ways. The magi may, of course, face infernalists directly. But there may be apprentices who disappear (did they join the cult? Were they abducted for indoctrination? For sacrifice?), apprentices who spy for their infernal master, collect arcane connections from their covenants or hermetic parentes... A possible story is to have an apprentice from the covenant being approached by the cult, maybe even corrupted. How does a magus reacts when he realize his beloved apprentice, who he has spend years tutoring, has become a full-blown worshipper of satan? What if they do the same thing with mundane nobles? This would be a good way to gain power over society. And how do this cult relates to the Shadow Flambeau? Are they unrelated? Allies? Ennemies? Maybe some Shadow Flambeau were also part of it, or joined it after the fallout in Iberia.
And of course, she could be involved in any story involving gaining lab texts or items related to wards and traps, binding spirits and ghosts, or investigating a place.
Cool ideas. But you miss my point.
Say you can only be in one story during the upcoming cycle (it is possible to fit more, but I wanna start with 1 and see how this works). Which 1 would it be? One of the ones I propose, or one of the ideas you suggest, or something else entirely. And, where within the cycle do you want to play this story out?
I'm good with the Duresca storyline for Solomon. It fits his position as Quaesitor and makes sense since he spent some time there before coming to Andorra. I'm hoping this storyline and Guillaume's mesh together as I'd like to see that dynamic.
Beyond that, Solomon could be helpful in the Vault storyline, just due to his Intellego magics...
Please remind me - do we have any idea what sort of books he has? I'm assuming academic and arcane abilities will be there, but what about Arts and lab texts?
This isn't exactly a 'days of high adventure' idea, but Vocis has a wife, four children, and seven grandchildren who are living, breathing story hooks. Here are all the names and relations, as a refresher. He plans to have a few of them move to Andorra in 1230. Amelia and Amada (and Amada's daughter Amelia) will move in spring, taking up residence in the nearby village (the name escapes me) and Amada working as a scribe for the covenant. Gerard will complete his training at Campo de Marte in late summer and join Andorra's grog ranks. The older kids will stay where they are, though he'll visit them occasionally with LoH.
And anytime he does anything with the family, he brings Mica along. Her creepiness is still a problem for them, so he's trying to acclimate them to her. Note that he developed Seven League Stride with her in mind, so she won't be Warped by him casting it on her repeatedly to get somewhere. Based on the first adventure, he will exhaust himself doing it, though. Need to work on my ReCo... Anyway, an emergency with someone in the family would give me a chance to flesh them out a bit and give callen a chance to do the same with Mica.
I was thinking of a story involving mixing your family dependants and the refuge dependants of Gardiatius. Maybe fleshing out the unique heresy the follow, and what happens when their beliefs come into conflic and that comflict flares further when a member of one group is caught having "relations" with a member of another.
eh?
As for Mica, plot out her training time on the seasonal Planner
...
just erased a bunch of dumb stuff because I was struck with inspiration for a new idea. Inspired by the mistake someone made in the Redcap Council thread.
Vocis is a Tremere, which means that Vocis has a serious interest in affairs of the greater Order at large. These interests are the same as those of his superiors, naturally. Keeping a Mercere house here and keeping Andorra neutral in terms of Tribunal alignment are both essential. The Order is on the verge of developing a central Hermetic banking system.
And Mica is to lean many things aside from the Arts. She must also learn duty and service. Perhaps she can be assigned to assist Fedora and Tiana in whatever way possible, and keep tabs so that Vocis knows if he should make Tremere influence felt. Mica will learn to be subtle, how to choose what information to relay and what to disperse and how to disperse it.
Also, tremere play long term, and are trying to work with the redcaps and use them as a means to relay their vision of the order.
Thus, having a (future) maga who understands redcaps and is accepted by them would be a good thing.
Just as soon as I figure out what Vocis is doing for the next two years.
PM me some details about this. I'm not following why Andorra is essential and didn't know about the central banking system.
My only concern here is Mica's enormous social penalty. I think it's -9, or -6 to those with Parma. Getting anyone to trust her, even members of the covenant, will be very difficult.
It has time once again to reorganize and plot out what we want to do with our next cycle, starting with Winter 1234 (the beginning of the year). We are closing in on the one-year anniversary of the revival of this saga, and we managed to cover 4 years. Not bad
Everyone gets 3 confidence points once they have finished advancing to that year and season and state they are ready to go.
Then I want to line up the stories that we want to accomplish over the next few years, and what now exists in this year as a result of our past activity. I am going to brainstorm some ideas, but I want to hear your ideas first. But three things I will mention: 1) Vocis got left out of the last story cycle so I want to put something together special for him, 2) we need to figure out what we are doing with this chapterhouse/Journeyman idea, and 3) we have the unresolved issue of who attacked us and why.
I assume companions are advanced like magi on the seasonal planner. I think in the Grogs book (or maybe the main book) it talks about a standard xp gain for grogs.
Presume a standard 20xp per year for both Companions and Grogs.
And don't forget, they can spend xp directly as q.p.v. to purchase Longevity and Lesser Enchanted Items & Charged Items.
And use the abbreviation q.p.v. or simply (number)qp, instead of bp. It is less confusing. I tried to edit that throughout the HR's.
