((I had asked what time it was, twice. I wandered all over, yes. But after I found Sinmore, Sophronia would've surely known how much time was left to act, and would've made some decisions happen differently. If we would've reached the church with only a few minutes to spare, I wouldn't have chosen to go there. I expected, that since no time had been mentioned before, after two requests that time wasn't an issue. To find out now changes the character of the story.
Given that we only have 20 minutes, the decision is really qcipher's as to what to do. Sinmore knows what's coming now, and Sophronia doesn't have enough time to prepare (I'd been planning a ceremonial casting of a ward outside the church, but that isn't possible now, since the time is so short.))
(It's reasonable for Sophronia to assume that Sinmore won't change until dark, in which case she absolutely thinks she has time. In actuality Sinmore changes at moonrise. Otherwise she'd certainly have been discovered well before now. But mostly I just want to get this thread wrapped up by the weekend.)
Sophronia waves Sinmore to bend and whispers into her ear, "Sinmore, it appears our time is up. It was my hope that we could contain you before the beast was loosed upon us, but it appears not to be the case, and keep your issue confidential. I will support you, if you come clean and acknowledge your nature, and we will do what we can to minimize your impact on the covenant in the future. You will have to turn the page and accept responsibility for your prior actions in beast form, even though they were not intentional, you are still responsible and will have to make amends to those you've injured. I am sorry for the sudden nature with which I spring this upon you, but your impending change leaves us little choice, unless you have a better idea, we need to have more people help us, and that means we cannot keep it a secret any longer."
((Then I'm not really sure what you're wanting. I'm trying to wrap it up. The course of action Sophronia would undertake if she doesn't know would probably be like so: ask the Father for the use of the church, bar Sinmore outside, then ward her in there ceremonially. That is likely to fail, though... Base 5 R: Touch T: Ring D: Circle =20, maybe 25 if you add it for a requisite. That total is Re 13 + An(Co) 5 + Int 2 + AL 2 + Spec 1 +Philo 1 + Aura 5 + die roll of 5=34/2=17.5, which means it fails. It was a longshot Furthermore, she would transform during the casting. My ability to participate in this thread beyond this weekend is in the crapper[1], so to speak. Things may unfold as they may without my involvement.))
[1]Lots of work to do now that the initial cleanup has been done from the sewer backup in our basement, mentioned over in Bibracte.
(I was mostly looking for qc to make a decision whether to "come out" or not. I can speed this up better otherwise, by weaving the timing of some other events, though, since your availability will be limited soon.)
As Sophronia speaks, Sinmore's eyes roll back into her head, and she falls to the ground in convulsions, foaming at the mouth.
This attracts the soldates, who come over. One greets Father Alexander as "Sasha" and asks him not to trouble himself with occult matters; another watches Sinmore carefully and says to Sophia, "She is fighting the change, now that she has stopped lying to herself. The more she fights it, the more it will hurt her."
As she thrashes, a heavy wound erupts across her torso-- blood seeps through her shirt in the image of large claw marks. As she lets out a scream of pain, the change comes on her prematurely. She turns into a wolverine the size of a black bear, wounded and angry.
((She will be far more manageable with wound penalties.))
As the were-gulon roars and rushes the easiest prey in sight, the soldates form a circle around the beast. Alpha says quietly, "Contain it." In a moment, he vanishes, leaving in his place a huge white wolf. A moment later the other four change into the white wolves that serve Domus Tremeris.
As the five wolves circle the wounded beast, she snarls in fear and anger.
Father Alexander takes Sophronia by the arm. "Into the chapel, my child. We will be safe there."
The wolves are much smaller than the were-gulon, but trained to fight as a pack; they also have Magic Might, which Sinmore lacks (and as soon as the sun goes down, she can't bring her Parma back up). They subdue her with short shrift, but she takes quite a few light and medium wounds in the process.
She wakes up a few weeks later, naked and covered in dried blood and mud and brambles, unhurt but with pink puckered scars all over her body. The last thing she remembers is Sophronia brushing out her hair as she came to the realization that she is a lycanthrope... except for a fever dream you had, wherein a short woman with platinum blond hair and a long green shift, dressed your wounds and told you that she would send someone to help you. (Whatever Sinmore does for this season, she will have three weeks of "distraction.")
Sophia and Sinmore both receive 5 bonus exp which must be spent on something actively used in this thread.
