the -3 applies to all rolls outside of a forest.
A lab total with no die roll is unaffected. If you experiment, for example, it would be.
There is forest down slope from the covenant, but it is outside the aura.
Would it be possible to move the forest into the aura with Stir the Slumbering Tree?
And if so, how long would it take to do so, if she does it in addition bit by bit over time.
There would be two problems- space (the aura is about 100 feet diameter) and soil- the "floor" of the covenant is solid rock. Nobody currently in the covenant knows how far up or down the aura extends.
Does the covenant currently have illuminators etc to improve the quality of books?
no, it does not
Did Anastasia find any magic items on covenant ground during the season?
no, she did not. Assuming the effect is caused by a magic item it seems to be hidden.
In that case, I would like at least to analyze the illusion itself, in particular to get an idea of the Magnitude. A ritual with year duration is a lot more complex than a magical item with a constant duration, so the idea is analyzing the effect will at least provide us with the advanced warning if the complexity I estimate for the illusion appears wrong for an item effect. If the magnitude is in line with what I would anticipate on an item, then I have less concerns about not finding the item powering our cover.
Oh sorry ... i missed that this was a question to be looked into... Kriegeist will explore the covenant with Gaze Upon Magic active. (Basically Sight of the Sigil, but through familiar bond.)
He actually has that always active, zero penetration so it doesn't create a scrying problem.
Whether that is considered scrying or not, even with zero penetration, will depend on the tribunal, s you will want to be careful about that. You observe a CrIm effect as well as a InTe effect. It is also worthy of note that the illusion covering the covenant cannot be seen from within the covenant.
Noted. I will say when I have it on then. And won't at places like tribunal.
It does have the third detail magnitude to give what the effect does and caster sigil.
the CrIm is level 20, the InTe is level 10. The sigil is that of Mingus.
Finished the winter and spring (respectively, writing the tractatus, and Kriegeist magically hollows out a cavern and summons his laboratory into it.)
Is there a scribe in the covenant who can copy the tractatus?
George is a scribe. He would be able to copy something in the fall of 1229, or maybe after Tribunal. What is the Tractatus about?
Anastasia, Guida and Lena were advanced to Spring 1229.
Giovanni, George, and Schwartz are advanced through Spring and ready to go to Tribunal.
It's Magic Theory. But need to copy it before Tribunal so I can sell it to the redcaps at Tribunal. (essentially they are getting publishing rights but want to keep a copy for our library).
There was already building space for labs, he did not need to hollow out a work area unless he just wanted a subterranean lab.
There is conversely, lab space available at the top of a pair of towers, one of which is hexagonal (auspicious shape) as well as ground floor lab space which can be in either circular of hexagonal rooms.
All labs have superior construction, those not in towers are in dedicated buildings. The underlying labs are sized to accommodate these virtues.
It's more that he wants to expand to a Size +3 space. If there is one pre-built of that size he'll use it.
Re the tractatus, if there aren't covenfolk scribes available he will have Tobin do it.
The only labs prebuilt to that size are ones which include an integral virtue that uses that space.
