1228 Franz ex Miscellanea

It would require 30 breakthrough points to develop the guideline to fit with standard hermetic theory, and would be its own branch of research rather than a simple lab activity.

That's not a right now activity then. Getting 45 for one virtue will be hard enough

at least you get breakthrough points without warping...
or the risk of warping at that level...

What's life without a little warping

longer, aside from longevity rituals

Touché and I guess next stop will be try and learn something from the divine. Are there any big churches nearby with someone my Magi could talk too?

Depends on what you mean by big- congregation size? Political power within the church? Structure size? Aura level? Also where is your character at this point in time...

This are all things I should have clarified. I mean big by political power I guess. I would love to talk to some one with a high true faith score but I am not going to try and push my luck. Aura level would be the next highest. At this point in time I would probably be in the Rhine Tribunal. Probably more towards the west then east

The church at Mainz is where Fredrick II was coronated Holy Roman Emperor in 1212, so politically that would seem pretty big.
When you arrive you find that the church is surprisingly lacking a divine aura.

Is there anyway I can speak to the Archbishop of Mainz?

It would require an appointment, and the secretary would want to know the purpose of your visit.

To talk about the divine realm and God's influence on the world. I would also being willing to make a very charitable donation.

He agrees to meet with you, following the charitable donation, but begins the meeting by expressing that while he is educated in theology, as all clergy must be, that he does not consider himself a great theologian.

Then after talking for a while if he does not seem to be giving great insight. I would continue the conversation and and the end ask if he knows any great theologians and if he would be willing to give a letter of introduction

You notice there is a lot of reconstruction of the cathedral going on, and he is willing to give a letter of introduction for another small donation...

he writes a letter of introduction to a highly placed Dominican priest at Cologne.

I'll of course give him another small donation and thank him for his time and the letter. I will head over to the priest at Cologne then

Arriving in Cologne you find the aura around the cathedral to be very close- the aura of the divine does not extend all the way to the edges of the city, though in the cathedral itself it is at level 4. There is also an air of tension in the city. You find the cathedral contains many classrooms and a significant library on issues of divinity and theology, and the priest in charge of lectures meets with you upon receiving your letter.

I'll say to the priest "Hello, I am Franz Rothenstein of House Miscellanea and I wish to speak with Priest Dominican". Unless this is Dominican and I misunderstood your post then I would say "Hello, I am Franz Rothenstein of House Miscellanea and I would like to speak with you about theology Priest Dominican"

You are speaking with him- this sort of a "fast forward" roleplaying, not every encounter will be played- enough information needs to be exchanged to determine where the conversation is going, and I'd rather get character creation finished this decade.

That is fair and I fully understand it. I will basically ask him about the divine and try and understand the realm better from his perspective. Try and see if I can find how it interacts with the magic realm and if there is anything I can use to enhance my knowledge. In return for his help I will offer to help him with the whatever the problem in the city is if I have anything of assistance
