He is less certain about the "preturnatural realms" but does mention about saints being implored to allow non christian powers to be used within their cities, frequently for the defense of hat city, or to provide, unselfishly, for the needs of it's people.
I'll ask about these saintly powers. Are they granted by god or do they get them from somewhere else? Are these powers affects by the divine aura and has he seen any saints or know of any that has developed these powers?
"Yes, they are from God, as are all things holy, but the saint you would need to invoke is the one whose relics have been placed in the church or cathedral to consecrate it. Generally the cathedrals are named after the saint whose relics they hold. Not always, but they will at least recognize the saint's holy days."
"Do you have a relic here that I could look at? I wish to know more about God's power in this world. His realm is something of a mystery to me and I would love to learn more"
"We have relics here." his face suggests that allowing you to investigate them is distasteful enough that the question offended him. "I understand there are those who peddle relics, though I would not vouch for their authenticity."
"I only wish to know more about them. I don't really want to blaspheme the Lord by using his relics not for their intended use. They are property of the Church. Although if the church sanctifies it I don't mind studying one and giving back to the church later "
"The relics we have here have been interred to sanctify the church, we are not going to remove them for a scholar to examine. I suggest you look elsewhere to study relics."
- this is not something he will negotiate on- if you feel you would persist, fine, you persisted, but in the interest of time we should move to the next point of investigation, whatever you decide that will be.
I would ask where these people that peddle relic are then. Also lead the conversation away from relics and try and see if he can give me any other insight on the realm
nothing else comes up insight wise, and peddlers abound throughout europe, though again the authenticity of the relics are questionable. You could try one of the knightly orders, they have reportedly sold relics found in the holy land during the crusades.
That is where I would head next them. What would the closest knightly order be?
Technically the Livonian Brotherhood of the sword, but they crusade in Lithuania and the Baltics, not the levant. Most of the orders you would be looking for have holdings around the Mediterranean sea. The Templars have a small holding in Berlin, the Hospitlars have a couple of holdings in the Alps region.
I'd like to stay within the HRE so I'd try Hospitlaes then Berlin first
The Hospitlers have a few minor relics they are willing to part with- for example a piece of the robe of Simon the apostle.
I'll try and buy a few of them then. If some happen to be fake I'd rather try and make sure at least one is real
okay- you buy a few relics from the Hospitlars. A simple Int Vim spell will determine their authenticity (the divine doesn't conceal itself) I forgot to mention the roll for insight (which was required) with the faerie instructor- magic theory+int with one stress roll roll per season and a target number of 18. assuming you make this the first relic will provide insight for the spell: identify the saint of Dominion: InVi 20 (range arc, base:3, duration mom, target individual)- which will identify the saint or other divine personage associated with a given dominion aura given an arcane connection to an area it covers. Again this will provide 4 breakthrough points (lab for developing the spell again requires experimentation)
Both of those will happen in one season then. Also what is the high might relic I got. They will be useful to protect myself from the infernal
rolling for insight takes a full season, I'm not sure which "both" you are saying will happen in one season here...
the relic is might 10.
I meant that both actions will only take a season. Sorry for the confusion. Next up would be dealing with the infernal but I am going to have to think of ways to do this without getting a wizard march declared
Next I would like to try and research the infernal. Do I know of any infernally tainted areas that I can find an infernal animal. I'd like to capture one to study it
there are two approaches you can take to this- you can roll com+organization lore:church (by letter so the Gift won't hurt this) to seek out such an animal for research, or you can use per+area lore+infernal lore to try and locate such a tainted beast.
