Zoltan frowns and then speaks up. "I do not wish to offend, and this is not directed at your familiar Arkos, but a pack of dogs within the aegis seems to be breaking the spirit of my agreement. I acknowledge that your familiar and you are protected by the Order and you cannot be separated by any such agreement, but the dogs...this entire pack? That to me seems that they would be on the Opiddum's grounds if included under one aegis. For after all, most would consider a covenant or Oppidum to be all that resides under an aegis, no?"
Laterala eyebrown on her remaining eye goes up. That I can cast an Aegis of varying size does not mean that all under it is within the Oppidum. If I could cast one the size of Lake Balaton and did so, would it make the entire region part of the Oppidum?
"Would it not? If someone from another covenant were to breach that Aegis around the lake or take things from within it, would we not consider them to be invading and poaching? Certainly, such a thing could be decided at Tribunal if it were to go that far, before that point we would likely take issue with the offender. But the Aegis represents a boundary and protects all within it, that is how I feel. Is it not how others feel?"
I think this is searching for unnecessary complications, let's be pragmatic, whether of not the dogs are into the aegis doesn't make them any closer or further from you. If we end us keeping them outside the aegis we'll have to ask you to cast wards against faeries around their enclose, that's even more time for you around those beasts you seem to dislike for whatever reason...
Zoltan's eyes become intense in their scrutiny. "I assure you, this is not an unnecessary complication." after a few moments though he lets out a sigh. "But, I have made my point. My vote is for the smaller, more powerful aegis that would not include the...dogs. If I am outvoted, so be it."
The Merinita must have a different understanding of of poaching than the Tremere. Or perhaps it is a Normandy Tribunal thing.
There are boundaries and then there are boundaries. We have a wall around our compound which is one boundary and our Aegis is another. Walls separates us from the non-magical threats and the Aegis separates us from the magical threats. Unless I am mistaken, the pack of dogs is considered a non-magical threat and can be kept outside the walls to satisfy our agreement. They are the property of Arkos, who has the same status within the Tribunal as you. His property has the right to be protected from magical threats if he deems the threat to be present.
It is trivial to modify our boundary to include the dog pens outside the walls. It requires no changing of the spell magnitude. But it would be a point to consider if we are to cast another Aegis in the summer.
Zoltan looks confused. "Normandy? What..? I have lived in this Tribunal my entire life. I do not know what you mean...but I do know this; boundaries and boundaries do not make for good neighbors or rules, not when there are two of them and one is documened and the other inferred. And the fae, which I am supposed to be dealing with, definitely do not understand such distinctions, consider that a warning should you ever have to deal with them. But, there is no need to argue further. I've made my point and cast my vote, we can finish the vote and move along, I will abide by the results, whatever they may be."
Thank you, Laterala and Damasus. I apologize, Zoltan. I must protect my pack.
As for the magnitude. What do we gain for having the larger Aegis? Do we plan to establish labs in the higher aura? Or is it just for exploration?
There is a large building by the hot spring designed to be a lab by a Verditius who was building a submersible to explore the hot spring. We did go with the larger Aegis last year for this reason.
"We do what we have done before, regarding the Aegis. As to the dogs, Zoltan has a contract about them. If the contract is breached, he needs to be compensated in some way."
Yes I would agree but his contract is vague. It says, She picks up a paper from in front of her Dogs will not be tolerated. For that we are not allowing dogs into the compound of the Oppidum which is considered within the walls. I fail to see how the size of the Aegis has any effect on that.
Concerning my vote, I'd better not vote at all... It would be much better if we could find an acceptable agreement for both parties instead of voting to choose a solution that would satisfy only one. If we define more clearly the limits of the oppidium in regards to Zoltan's contract, and make sure the dogs are kept outside this limit would you find it acceptable ?
I'm not sure I understand completely why we have to cast the Aegis two times, even if Ankoydes is a not at his best I'm sure we'll manage to cast it wouldn't we ?
Who Is this Vertidius, is he still in the tribunal ? Did he find anything interesting or dangerous in the spring ?
Only if our members would like a stronger Aegis. Right now I am casting the Aegis so everyone relies on me not going into final twilight or being killed by a crazed assassin.
Her name was Eve and she disappeared while traveling to Lycaneon last year.

The building is large enough to hold several labs. It was oversized so she could build the vehicle. Someone using it would have a large lab but no magical lighting or heating. those are based off of the older Oppidum that was in the Roman fort. The advantage of that building is that it is in the higher aura.
"Well I guess you're right, I doubt you'll let anyone kill you easily but twilight, final or not, is not a risk we can take. If no other members of the council know the ritual I can learn the sixth magnitude version... Provided we've got a lab text. I've probably relied on senior magi to cast it for too long anyway."
Zoltan nods sincerely towards Ophelia. "Thank you Hoplite, your contribution is appreciated. But if the vote keeps the dogs from me but still within the aegis, I will abide. Let us vote and move on. Regarding the casting of the aegis...the last time I summoned the stony goblin to protect us, shall I do so again?"
((OOC, Zoltan actually has a grudging respect for how the promise has been kept. It is the type of promise and wordsmithing that he himself would use, that it is being used against him makes him appreciate this more, so no more worries about the dogs go ahead and vote how you'd like it.
To clarify, Zoltan votes for the smaller and stronger aegis, with the dogs out, but he understands he could get the smaller aegis and still have the dogs in. If the larger one is used he knows the dogs will be in it))
Arktos nods.
I agree with Zoltan. There is no mutually satisfying compromise. Let us vote. But what is this goblin?
Before we decide: May I have the laboratory of the missing Verditius? I tame magical animals in my laboratory, and the size and seclusion are desirable. If so, may l invite the brutes into the Aegis initially? The invite is withdrawn as soon as the animal is inside, but it is necessary at first. If both suggestions are acceptable to you, then I would opt for the larger Aegis.
Arktos' beady eyes wander slowly around the room.
A similar arrangement was in place in Polyaigos. No trouble ever resulted.
Protected by stony goblins ! That's new... And what about the brutes. What are they exactly ? Not that I'm against more creatures inside the aegis but my last oppidium was less... populated.
I'm not interested in a gigantic secluded lab, no opposition on my side. I'm better off
If you both agree to vote let's do it.

Zoltan smiles as again the conversation returns to him, he turns to Damasus with mild but feigned surprise. "Hmm? Oh yes...the Stony Goblin. I can summon and create various types of fae. That one can be counted on to keep watch and is an able guardian." he then turns to Arktos. "I don't know the particulars of your assignment, but it sounds somewhat similar to mine, but perhaps with magical creatures? It would likely be a good idea, if this is not already the case, to make arrangements with us when you bring beasts into the Oppida for study. For all of our safety."
I believe you are indeed my faerie equivalent, if you will, as far as the Tremere are concerned.
Most of the animals I deal with are magical, cunning variants of mundane beasts. I am not averse to monsters, either, or intelligent creatures, but the latter cannot be tamed. They must be persuaded in other ways.
In terms of arrangements for added safety, I am capable of casting circle wards that should anything smaller than a dragon at bay. Not powerful enough to warp immediately. I keep my animals in such wards anyway, and usually asleep to boot. Or did you have something else in mind?
Zoltan shakes his head. "No, that sounds sufficient, and Laterala no doubt went over these with you as well. Mainly a warning to us all. I will inform those here whenever I bring in a new fae for study and invite them through the aegis. Then at any time in the future, should it be necessary, anyone can revoke that inviation. I believe I am also limited to bringing in one outside fae per season? A similar arrangement with you and your work seems proper." he looks to Ophelia and Lateral for confirmation.
