Major magi flaw-illiterate!
Basically you don’t know how to read! This is a flaw that only bothers magi obviously. Conversely literacy might be a virtue for grogs!
No takers on my latest offering, huh?
It is technically impossible unless you consider some extreme customised circumstances: part of the apprenticeship cursus is to read and speak Latin (or eventually Classical Greek).
Also, does the magi remains illiterate forever ? Because if he can eventually learn how to read, then it is not a flaw: he would only need to learn Artes Liberales at 1 (to learn roman alphabet), taking one season with a mediocre teacher (bonus of +6 for one to one study, so even negative communication can be countered), and have Latin at 4 - and he would need that anyway to cast spell.
An apprentice that cannot do that cannot read any books, translate and take any notes for his master - in most circumstances, such apprentice would be a burden instead of a valuable assistant.
You can design a magi that prefer to learn without book, you can pile up virtues that help in this sense:
- Free study, Apt student, Independent study.
It is not a flaw if within a few seasons, the magi can become literate.
And if you give him Ability Block: Academic abilities, he cannot even become a mage: he needs Latin or Classical Greek to cast spell.
With a understanding ST, you might be able to design a magi with Silent magic (so he does not need to speak any language to cast spell), but you can wonder how his master taught him magic.
It works for folk witch and edge wizards, not so much for a magi from the Order since one of the founding pillar of hermetic magic is shared magic through common language, uses of spoken, common words and a strong, underlying latin cultural background.
Ok.
What would be the f&m bonus be for warts?
F&M bonii are (usually) for devices. Why would your device have warts?
Other than that … nothing much I’d guess?
Ok. What would be the f&m bonus be for a book bag then?
New magic item:ruby rod of poison immunity!
It basically does what it says it does!
If you are going to create a Ruby Rod, it really has to be about charisma, or involving all 4 elements. ![]()
Going away from movie references, I would think thematically for an item which gives permanent poison immunity (ie casting a sun duration spell twice a day) it really should be worn.
I’d think a rod would be the kind of thing once would use before sitting down to a feast, or before taking on a monster with poison, and have the poison immunity be given to a group pointed at with the rod.
I thought that ruby’s gave poison immunity in medieval times.
Going by the Shape/Material bonuses tables, Agate, Amethyst, and Pearl give bonuses to resist poison. so they’d be better candidates. Maybe an Agate of Virtue might grant one Immunity to Poisons.
Dragon claws as a form/material bonus, how would it work?
Badly, if another dragon sees you with the item.
A real answer. +7 for inflicting wounds.

Medeaval shi’ar
Basically it’s a wizard with an elemental familiar! In dnd the familiar brought the spells to the wizard, obviously that won’t work in ars magica though. Otherwise how should it work in ars magica?
The magi needs to have the Virtue Spirit Familiar (in Mystery Cults) initiated, then they can bind discorporated entities like elemental. Then you need to design the elemental, following the rules of RoP:M, discussing with the troupe the power level of such familiar (grog or companion, season, etc.).
As Ezechiel3571 told you create the familiar this way, and see if the troupe is ok with a virtue similar to Faerie-Raised Magic, but focused in magical creatures. with something like this, once your familiar use a power, the magus can invent a spell through observation.
