Ars Magica Open License Announcements

Thanks, Tom did some really good work there: concise, useful to most players.

I think this is the first time Felicity has written for Ars Magica: I'm really pleased that we now have another archmage you can just throw in and not have to build from scratch. She's got a good theme and its given me an idea for something up ahead.

Since I only saw that the magazine is now available on DriveThruRPG in your sales breakdown, you can mark down one more sale there.

It's a different market but it's an Ars Magica product anyway: Medusa's intro adventure, Narva More, has been translated and adapted into Spanish by yours truly and is already available on DTRPG: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/es/product/521145/ars-magica-los-cuervos-de-narva

Thanks to the author for all the help!

Did I hallucinate that one of the fanzines had been announced as an Open License product during the Backerkit campaign? Peripheral Code?

You might me thinking of Timothy’s Mythic Venice project.

Peripheral Code isn’t open license or public domain. Not because I don’t agree with those movements, but because I just have not had time to do whatever would be required to make them part of the Ars Creative Commons

I'm excited to announce Mythic Judaism, a source book for Judaism in Mythic Europe.

Mythic Judaism

Taking Realms of Power: The Divine as a starting point, Mythic Judaism provides detailed setting information, new systems, and new characters to incorporate Jewish stories into your saga.

Mythic Europe’s stereotypical Jew is an ancient rabbi hunched over his copy of the Talmud. And, certainly, many prominent Jews in 1220 are rabbis and scholars, spending their time learning from books and leading their communities. But the Jewish world contains far more kinds of people than just the scholars. There are warriors, zealots, lovers, luminaries, and leaders. There are even a few Hermetic Magi.

Mythic Judaism explores a diverse Jewish world inside the Ars Magica setting. Meet a rabbi who is challenging Jewish law, a kabbalist who seeks to transform himself into a woman, and a maga who seeks to stamp out idolatry in the Order.

Mythic Judaism contains:

  • Expanded rules for Jewish magic, across all four Realms, centering them in Jewish mystical beliefs.
  • A new divine tradition, the Sho’ali Halomot, who draw their wisdom from dreams.
  • A faerie magic tradition, who use community superstitions, segulot, to create prosperity and a long life.
  • A Jewish Hermetic Covenant ready to drop into your saga, including six fully detailed magi and companions.
  • Six additional Jewish characters who can serve as NPCs, from a common soldier to a powerful maga.
  • Ten detailed story seeds that let you introduce Jewish stories into your saga.
  • Fifteen new Jewish virtues and flaws for your player characters.
  • Six important cities of the Jewish world to serve as locations for your troupe to explore.
  • Dozens of new spells and effects using Hermetic and non-Hermetic magic.
  • Art and maps that bring Jewish Mythic Europe to life.

Mythic Judaism is a supplement for the Ars Magica 5th edition roleplaying game released under the Ars Magica Open License.

No artificial intelligence was used to create this book, including its text, layout, and art.

Realy want to buy this, but drive thru rpg is refusing my (correct) card details, even tried using the legacy site but no avail. Has anyone else run in to similar problems?

Did you try deleting your old card first? Had a similar issue on drivethru and albertsons.

Hello everybody!

This is incredibly exciting — thank you for opening up Ars Magica to the wider community!

We’ve just launched Serenissima Obscura, a setting guide with 27 adventure modules set in Magical Renaissance Italy — a world grounded in real history, but shaped by hidden magical forces. It shares the same core premise that makes Ars Magica so compelling, and we’ve created a dedicated Ars Magica Guide for Serenissima Obscura as part of the campaign.

We have also dedicated a pledge level to the Ars Magica community. It includes

  • The main book,
  • The Ars Magica Guide ti Serenissima Obscura,
  • The print versions of our 8 city maps by Mark Smylie.

We funded in under 48 hours and are now working toward community and stretch goals.

It’s an honor to build on such a rich and inspiring legacy.

This is where you can find our campaign: Serenissima Obscura – Setting Guide & Modular Adventure - BackerKit

I am discussing the details of our conversion on the Ars Magica Discord in a dedicated channel and have also opened a new topic/thread on the forum to answer questions concerning our project here:

Would have been handy to also have a digital only version for all the Ars Magica related books, so people could avoid the high postage costs (for places like Australia). Digital products, as you know, have a higher profit margin.

I think you can do this: back for the PDF, add on the Ars Magica PDF. Of course, if you backed in the first 48 hours, you want to wait to add on the Ars Magica PDF so that you can get your $5 off on it. (No postage to set it against.)

There are digital versions of all books.
As David said: Pledge level Santa Croce (or even Dorsoduro) and then add the Ars Magica Guide as Add-on. Presto!

I have the all digital version for just this reason. I have the core pdf, the D&D5 extension pdf and the Ars pdf. It does mean I'm not in the running for some of the unlocks (ribbons and offset printing and such) but the tyranny of distance is implacable.

After the Nigrasaxa adventure was generously put under the AMOL, I uploaded a conversion to AM5e to Nigrasaxa Book - Project: Redcap. The corresponding thread here is Publishing Nigrasaxa for ArM5e.
