ARS MAGICA OPEN LICENSE ANNOUNCEMENTS

I am happy to announce my newest release: A Game of Grogs and on RPGTrader.

This a compilation of rules and mechanics to play medieval sports within the Ars magica framework Unlike my previous publications, it isn't an adventure but a mix of rules, examples and story seeds. So whether you are still cruising on world cup fever or not, the grogs and companions have an opportunity to take to the field.

A Game of Grogs gives you everything you need to bring the sports of the medieval period to an Ars Magica campaign, with rules and mechanics for a variety of real medieval sports and physical contests. Historical sports detailed in this sourcebook include archery, medieval ball games such as Shrovetide football, quintain, racing (both mounted and on foot), wrestling, and many more.

You’ll also find plenty of story seeds to involve the entire covenant—grogs and companions will have many opportunities to shine through physical prowess, while rules for betting and cheating give everyone else a way to participate.

This material slots into any high-research saga, and is illustrated with historical sports images.

This supplement is released under the Ars Magica Open License. It was created without the use of generative AI; the text, art, and illustrations were made by real people.

This is really exciting news for the Ars Magica community. I love the idea of players creating their own spells, items, and adventures. It will be great to see what new ideas everyone comes up with.

We launch! My Ars Magica novel, The Shining Dragon, is up for pledges on Kickstarter! Feel free to find my original thread, DM me, or post on the Kickstarter itself with any questions.

I’m so excited!

The Shining Dragon on Kickstarter

Hey yall,

I have launched ars-saga-manager.com !

It is a fully featured Ars 5th edition character creator, fully incorporating the Open License content - 1300+ spells, a full canon bestiary, all Virtues and Flaws, and more.

Please check it out! You can message me here, email support@ars-saga-manager.com, comment on the thread in the discord, and I will start a thread here as well.

Based on feedback, we now have a guest mode! You can explore all of the character building capabilities without making an account and, if you like it, can move the character you were working on straight into your account.

This seems incredible to me so far. Thank you for your efforts!

Just had a thought this morning. I know DTRPG makes it possible to have bundles of products from multiple publishers -- often for charity fundraising and stuff, but also just as a way to cross-promote. It would be neat to see a bundle of 3rd party Ars Magica Open License products bundled together for sale with a discount, with revenues shared among all the contributors, as a way to promote all the open license publishers now that Definitive Edition is hitting the general market (and is, as of this morning, #5 on the DTRPG best-sellers list).

For folks who have already published multiple OpenArs titles, this is also an implied suggestion that you could offer a bundle sale of your stuff right now to attract more attention and sales.

That's a great idea. To celebrate I have created this Rhine Adventures bundle. All 6 adventures that I have published for the Rhine Tribunal. I set the price to 20 USD.

Excellent! (I just grabbed it myself, as a way to nab your books that I hadn't already bought.)

Created a new topic to discuss the possibility of a multi-author bundle.

I am happy to announce that I have published a Halloween special mini adventure, which is available on DTRPG and RPGTrader.

The Sorrows of the Young Wiedergänger is a folk horror mini adventure for Ars Magica 5th Edition. It includes everything that a storyguide needs to run the scenario in approximately two to three hours, including maps (both hand drawn and naturalistic). It is especially suitable as a Halloween adventure.

A Wiedergänger (revenant) is haunting his former neighbours after his family died in a famine. Can the party end the haunting before the harvest rots and the villagers are killed?

This scenario is released under the Ars Magica Open License.
This adventure was created without the use of generative AI; the art and illustrations were made by real people.

It includes hand maps for the location.

I am happy to announce that the first multi author Bundle is now live here on DTRPG.

I liked it so much, I bought two! Get one for your neighbor! And your dog! And your neighbor's dog!

I'm currently finalizing Praecepta Hermetica, a 50-page extended primer to the Ars Magica setting and important concepts. You can grab (and critique) the google doc in the dedicated thread:
