ARS MAGICA OPEN LICENSE ANNOUNCEMENTS

I want to know if Atlas Games has the intention to release more material as Open License, for example: the Medieval Handbook, the “four seasons sagas” (Winter’s tale, twelfth night, etc), adventures like Pact of Pasaquine, Promisses, Promisses, and so on.

These materials being open license gives the opportunity for the community to update and translate them. I would love to update twelfth night and Promisses, promisses

It is worth contacting them directly if you are interested in a particular product for a particular project. I know they have released some other material for those reasons (the Lost Magic grimoire, for example).

The Ars elements in Medieval Nights will all be under the Open License. (Obviously the Mythras and DnD sections have their own license.)

Hello,

Am proud to announce that my second product is now for sale on DriveThruRPG:

https://legacy.drivethrurpg.com/product/568107/Of-Magic-Condensed-into-Shape

This product contains 195 Vis Sources for Ars Magica, one source of each Hermetic Art for each of the 13 Tribunals. All are based on either real places, or folk tales from that area.
I do hope you all appreciate this product, and am still awaiting the art for my Elder Magi pdf for the Elder Verditius, so that’s the next product that will be published, and meanwhile am working on the other Elder Magi, getting things ready for them.

I would LOVE for The Pact of Pasaquine to be Open Content. I consider it the quintessential Ars Magica adventure, and am working on a Fifth Edition version just for my own fun.

My first Elder Magi entry has been submitted to DriveThruRPG to be sold, and in 3 days it should go live.

The Blurb:

Stop spending hours calculating Laboratory Seasons.

While Ars Magica Fifth Edition introduces formidable Archmagi and ancient sodales, building an Elder Magus from scratch is a monumental task. Calculating decades of XP, lab activities, enchanted devices, and warping takes time that a busy Storyguide simply doesn't have.

The Elder Magi Series does the heavy lifting for you. This series delivers fully fleshed-out, plug-and-play elder magi from every House in the Order of Hermes. Designed to serve as imposing rivals, cryptic patrons, historical parens, or elusive Mystagogues, these characters are ready to step directly into your Mythic Europe saga.

Inside this debut issue, you will find:

  • A Fully Detailed Elder Maga: Complete with background, personality, and a comprehensive high-XP stat block.

  • The Sanctum Setup: Full statistics for her customized Laboratory, enchanted Talisman, personal Familiar, and unique magical items.

  • Hermetic Legacy: A catalog of original enchanted items she has created and a library of Hermetic books (tractatus and summae) she has authored for your players to study.

  • Mystic Initiations: A breakdown of the secret Ordeals and scripts she underwent to attain her power.

Featuring: Audrey du Verditius This inaugural file profiles a brilliant, eccentric master artisan of House Verditius. Alongside her complete sheet, this PDF introduces the Confraternity of Arachne—a brand-new textile and silk-working Hermetic Confraternity, complete with its own unique flavor and crafting traditions.

Bring the true masters of the Order to your table tonight.

Here’s an image of the cover

What happened? It’s not showing up as far as I can tell.

I know. I was told that her name needs to be Audrey de Verditius, in proper French, so I had to change the file, and I think that may have caused it to be pushed back.

I spoke just a bit too soon. It’s listed now.

But that's the whole reason I play the game!

Seriously, though, this looks great.

Finally, after three proof cycles on DriveThru (the fault of my inattentiveness), I can publish Peregrinatores

Take up your staff and travel the Rhine Tribunal!

The Rhine Tribunal is home to a unique tradition of travelling magi. Supported by ancient legal rights of hospitality, these magi wander from covenant to covenant, staying a few years at each, performing service or paying vis in exchange for the use of the library or a laboratory. Eventually they join covenants and settle down, but the friends and enemies they make in their wandering years can last a lifetime.

This supplement for Ars Magica 5th edition includes additional material to support a peregrinatore saga. It includes details on the peregrinatores, their lifestyle and culture, and the challenges they face. It also includes a guide to the covenants of the Rhine Tribunal, additional rules for itinerant magi, and rules for solo play. Guardians of the Forest is required for a complete experience.

This supplement is released under the Ars Magica Open License.

Its available in PDF and hardcopy, from both DriveThru and the new RPG Trader:

As for which platform to buy it on: I get an extra $1.50 per copy on RPG Trader thanks to their much lower fee, and the side-by-side comparison of the print versions speaks for itself:

Side-by-side print version comparison: Lulu (RPG Trader) on the left, and DriveThru on the right

The open licence means the artwork I commissioned - a magnificent cover from Malcolm Dale, and a Rhine Tribunal map with travel times from @Lothindil - is also CC-BY-SA. There's an SVG version of the map (meaning editable, resizeable, and platform independent), and I'll need to park that somewhere so others can use it.

THE FAITH & FLAME TOOLKIT

I have created an aid for storyguides and players that provides tools for quickly starting a new saga in the Provençal tribunal, based out of the covenant of the Coenobium. This project is still in development but is in a working state; you can read more about it and download it here: Faith & Flame Toolkit

It is my pleasure to announce my biggest publication to date: A Tale of Two Free Cities, which is available both on DTRPG and RPGTrader. I hope that you will enjoy running it as much as I did.

When an Infernal tractatus is found in the possession of an NPC that turned on the Covenant, the troupe has one lead: something is rotten in the city of Köln.

A Tale of Two Free Cities is an extensive mystery adventure for Ars Magica 5th Edition. It includes everything that a storyguide needs to run the scenario in approximately 12 hours. On Halloween 1227, an Infernal trap is sprung on a member of the Covenant. The first thread of this corruption leads to a nunnery in the city of Köln, where the characters can find clues leading to Wetzlar, which is being corrupted by Infernal forces.

This is a multi-location sandbox, where the characters have the opportunity to make supernatural allies to battle the forces of the Infernal. It is designed to fit within in the Curse of the Rhine Gorge saga (described in the Rhine Tribunal book, Guardians of the Forest) and the Infatuated Diabolist plot line from the Antagonist book. It contains notes on how to easily tweak the adventure to fit into an ongoing saga, as the Covenant investigates the Infernal corruption of an NPC.

Incorporating real events and historical personalities, it slots into a high-research saga; a historian from the region was consulted to capture the local folklore. This includes a fully fleshed out Mythic Wetzlar along with the supernatural forces within and around. Includes a foreword by local historian Felix A. Masak.

This scenario is released under the Ars Magica Open License.

This adventure was created without the use of generative AI; the text, art and illustrations were made by real people.

Hello, all!

My first Roland of Flambeau novel is nearing completion. The line edits are done and it's going out to beta readers, with the hope of publication near the end of October. Cover art is almost finished, so I'm looking to reach out to some of the line writers to see if any of these luminaries are interested in reading and penning either a blurb or a foreword. What's the best way to contact them?

Thanks in advance!

I don’t see a discussion thread for Peregrinatores, but I just want to say I got a print copy and it’s great! Very professionally done, full of great ideas and useful tools. You did a fantastic job and I urge anyone interested in a Rhine Saga to get a copy, you won’t be disappointed.

Thanks! Glad to hear you enjoyed it!

I've set up a discussion thread for errata and squee here: Peregrinatores discussion thread

I’m pleased to announce the Faith & Flame Toolkit is complete, with a 32-page starting adventure, an expanded player’s guide and Storyguide booklet, and both print and digital versions.

You can learn more, get a video walkthrough of the toolkit, and download both versions absolutely free at the thread below:
