Why do you make them so old?
shrug he was a seasoned former crusader. He wasn't all that old, he rolled 5 1's on 19 dice.
for anyone not involved in the Paris adventure, feel free to advance to winter 1200, which will be the Tribunal.
When do the books below arrive at the covenant?
At standard rates you can expect a delivery of about 12 levels of summae/season. If you want to pay more for expedited delivery (50% extra) it will arrive at a rate of 60 levels per season.
The standard rate sounds fine to me. I deliberately put the summae I wanted last in the advancement (intellego summa for Summer 1200 and Magic Theory summa for Autumn 1200) precisely because of this. If we assume these were all ordered just in the spring season, it gives plenty of time for all texts to arrive. Does anybody else have anything to say on the delivery times?
Spring of what year? Basically Gerard wants to study Vim; so if it's fair to arbitratrily say the Vim book is one of the first to arrive, that's fine. Or if they were ordered at the end of the monk story so we have a year of lead time for them to arrive in. He can study other stuff in the interim, of course, if he has to.
Yeah, spring 1198 I meant to say just after the monks were leaving
Ok, so reasonable to say we have the vim book within the first year.
yes
Over the next couple of months Jaufres keeps nagging his father. «When will you take us vis hunting again? It is so much fun, and we have not gone for ages.» Especially when it draws into Summer, and the weather is accommodating for travels, he repeats the question almost daily ...
It only takes a few times before Gerard agrees, and announces at the breakfast table that he and the boys are going vis hunting, and anyone who wants to come is welcome.
[When is this happening? I may need to backtrack some advancement.]
I was thinking in the first year, after the papal legates's visit. It does not matter much though.
Alienor smiles at the decision of Gerard knowing full well his son was the instigator. "It would be rather nice to see more of the countryside and new sources of Vis are always helpful."
[EDIT: I have not advanced Alienor can do so as soon as we find out when the Vis hunt is happening in game-time.]
Up to Loke. It might be fun to say it's at the end of Autumn before tribunal, as the extended time outside the Aegis might lead to the Gift manifesting, which would catch Gerard off guard; maybe we hunt for vis sources on the way to tribunal? But I'm fine with whatever Loke decides.
My assumption was that Jaufres overheard some discussion between the magi in 1198 - it was discussed wasn't it - and started nagging then. However, since you have advanced, it is better to inject the story when it fits your plans.
Now, I see he is a year or two younger than I thought. However, he is born 1192 but not advanced beyond age 5. With game starting 1198, should he not either have been born in 1193 or six years old?
I'd prefer to let Jaufres be seven or eight at the time of the adventure. So 1198 is a bit early, thinking about it. If you want the en route to tribunal, presumably Summer 1200, that's fine with me. Or Autumn 1199.
I might be a bit off on the dates. He's meant to be 5 when the tribunal opened.
OK. Born 1193 then.
Tribunal is Winter 1200, is that too late for you?
No, it is actually better. Playing a seven-year old is going to feel a lot more useful than a five-year old
