Chapter 9: The Man with the Golden Scythe

I (Markoko) am also just teasing you
Roberto plans on inventing such a spell as soon as he has the time free

Aelianus: Sure I could craft a paralysation wand for you. But is that really what you need? When I suggested a fire wand to you, I offered a weapon you could use against a superior foe when you are on your own. A wand with a paralyzing spell would only give you a weak tool against a mundane. A flame would both slay foul abominations from beyond the grave as well as brigands. Would you want a weapon that could slay a foe or just put them in a non combative state? A wand that freezes a victim has almost the same advantages but there is little risk that you start an unintended fire. If you want a weapon that will severely hamper just about any foe without harming them then I could craft a wand that conjures a orb of darkness or really bright light that could be placed around the enemies head. I am just giving you options so that you could make an educated decision. I have taken care of my self in combat without having spent lots of time on the training ground with the guards and I have done just fine.

Alessio takes a moment consider things...

Hm....prehaps a fire wand would be more useful, as it falls outside my usual Arts.

Oh and cheers marko, more hassle - just because I dont like fire throwing flambeau?! (I'll sort out Lucas soon, promise...)

Then I have a lab text that would suit you nice. I could make a few changes on the design if you wish. I think that ā€œThe mystical wand of incineration and devastationā€ is the right wand for you. It has fire power on the same magnitude as a pillum of fire, it has a fast trigger and enough penetration power to blast through most magical protection that isn’t very strong or has some special defence against fire. The only drawback is that it has only six charges per day, not enough for a warrior magus but enough for personal protection. Of course I could make a custom wand for you as long as we use at most eight magnitudes of magical power. This wand will save you from years of mastering combat skills. And then there is the important question of design… A wand must fit its owner. Aelianus looks most pleased.

OOC: The mystical wand of incineration and devastation

A plain wooden wand crafted from three different types of wood they fit seamless to gather and the wand is shaped like a cone but in stead of a tip as en end there is a sculpted dragons head. The bottom of the cone is shaped in a convex shape. The convex area is filled with verditius runes.

Total level 40, Creo Ignem Base 10, +2 for voice, +5 lv for fast cast, +3 lv for 6 uses per day and +12 for penetration +24.

OOC: I really enjoy Aelianus insisting on CrIg being the way to solve problems I was imagining the baffled look on his face when Alessio asked for a wand that just paralyzed people.

OOC - And it was me, the Flambeau guy, that suggested Paralyzation!

Aelinius does sound rather like a used car salesman.

I think that the discussion can largely taper off her .

Unless someone does want to do something about searching for the missing Tremere I will move along to the seasons of down time before major events start to occure

Wirth
Was really happy to be reunited with Clara and Edward

Roberto is right. A paralysing weapon is also more flexible. You can disable an ennemy, or capture him. But that's your choice.

As per your appliance here, you seem to have learned of your errors. I believe in second chances, and that you can be an asset to Novus Mane. I vote you in. Don't make me regret it. You would, too.

Wirth is awesome!

Aelianus pride as taken a blow as he believe that his weapon crafting abilities is in question. My soldaes, what Alessio need is a weapon that can save his life and that will give Alessio the opportunity to not study the violent arts if he desires so. A paralysation wand will only give him a weak tool against a few foes. A wand that drenches the foe in the blazes of Vulcan’s forge will have a greater stopping power and more uses. Now tell me how many seasons would it take go learn the pillum of fire and practice it and the arts to become potent enough to cast a pillum of fire with the same strength as my wand?

[color=red]I was born with it, so I really couldn't say
Look, the kid is unskilled in combat. His first real combat, he might wind up killing the wrong person or setting himself and the town on fire. Would you give a crossbow to an untrained child?

In modern terms, would you give an assault rifel to someone who has never recieved basic instructions in how to handle firearms?

Aelianus: A wand does not make him a warrior magus. Feel free to offer magical combat instructions to our new soldaes. If I supply Alessio with power then perhaps you can teach him to handle it. Personally I think that he can take care of himself if needed as his master has trained him in some basic combats magic.

Thank you Aelianus.

Roberto, Aelianus is correct when he says I have had some training in combat magics, and I have spent time mastering a lesser version of the Pilum of Fire. I just doubt it is much compared to those sodales that dedicate their lives to such endevours. I merely choose to avoid violence if possible, but should matters come to a head, I can be of some use...I hope....

The wand Aeilanus is offering will be useful, as I doubt I could manage to create a similiar effect with the same penetration potenial. My Creo Ignem is enough to disaude simple bandits, but against creatures from the realms, I doubt it mwould hinder them.

[color=red]Whatever. Just don't say I didn't warn you guys...

This should be interesting .

Iolar departs the council meeting mutterring something under her breath about Boys and their toys.

And Marko Iolar can already manage all these lethal fire spells and it not someone I would consider trained in combat, she even has area effect versions

Time passes.
There is no further news of the missing Tremere magus and indeed the tribunal seems quite. Some of the locals report to the magi that towards the end of the year they have seen a pair of White Wolves stalking the covenants lands and that these seemed unnusual and made the peasents feel uneasy.
Roberto has also heard that the Flambeau Archmagus Julius , a resident of the Tribunal but who is often away has returned and has been seen in many odd corners of the tribunal accomanied by two other flambeau magi searching for something or someone.
Early in the morning Alessio is about his business leaving his laboratory and heading into the covenants mundane areas when he notices that the White tower which none of the magi enter or disturb has a new scorch mark visible on the top of the tower which was certainly not there the last time he looked at it .

Don't confuse Marko with Roberto. I am real, he is fictional. I, Marko, think that Iolar is a feiirce and fiery maga, and is indeed a warrior wizard whether she knows it or not. Roberto thinks that women should stay out of combat altogether. He knows that she has powerful fire spells, but he has known her a lot longer than Allesio and trusts her judgment more. He is also pretty sure that she will run away at the first sign of danger. But that's okay. Women are supposed to be soft. Men are not.
(again, this is whar Roberto thinks, not Markoko)
Also, Roberto thinks Julius is a jerk, and hopes he gets bent and never bothers us. As for wolves stalking the covenant grounds though, this concerns me. I mention this to my fellow magi and offer to lead a hunting expedition to kill them (though I need the assistance of some skilled hunters to do so).

The wolves where seen a while ago, Iolar will tell you that she has seen no sign of wolves in her flight over the area and will keep a look out for them in the future . As of the end of the 4th season of down time she has not reported seeing anything .
Taking what passes for skilled hunters from the covenant Roberto has a look for the wolves but finds no trace of them. In particular he finds no trace of them having hunted anything and the local farmers are not complaining about their stock being taken. These wolves are being fairly stealthy and not acting in a pasticularly wolf like manner and really there should be more of them.

I am careful with the wolves. No way Clara and Edward are going out with these.

Oh, also, I suppose there's a nourrice for the boy? I don't want Clara to get burdened by a child, although both her and wirth take care of him and play with him at times (or at least, wirth tries. Gift notwhistanding, he is a little akward). It's just the daily shores we delegate to someone else

Roberto smiles watching Wirth and his child. He is considering his Longevity Potion, but needs more vis to create one. He also wonders if he perhaps should sire a child before he binds his life force.
