general ooc

I had forgotten, but I added the roll a little while ago.

Also, Eduardo did better than his math indicates (if it was +4, 2x7+4=18).

thinks i should not do when im tired....math.

I'll add a modifier for the gift.

There are still a few loose ends to tie, like burying the body and informing other magi, so feel free to use the thread until that is done.

This is 10xp adventuring. I trust you to spend them in a way that fits the events (no Area Lore Scotland), but it doesn't have to be a skill or art you rolled dice for. 10xp is rather more than you'd get in a p&p game, but forum games are slow.

I'm also going to leave you to your labs for 4-8 seasons (same number for everyone), before I spring the next story at you. You can use that time for setting up labs and using them, practice training, whatever. I'm not going to run adventures for you in those seasons, so I'm going to handle them ooc by asking myself the following questions:

  • Do they achieve what they want be it vis, or political connections, or ... - which requires one dice roll?
  • Do they get hurt and lose the next season (second roll, modified by first roll)?

For Animus:

  • Story xp: 5 xp in Order of Hermes Lore, 3 xp in Concentration and 2 xp in Faerie Lore
  • Season 1: Install lab for 2 xp in Magic Theory
  • Season 2: Install lab for 2 xp in Magic Theory
  • Season 3: Wanted to study “Parma for Dummies”, but the book was in use (1d10=1) for 10 xp in Parma Magica. So instead he seeks Isabel's help in finding a high-quality low-level summa on Corpus. Aiming for a L5Q15 summa on Corpus written in Latin, so if I am calculating correctly the Ease Factor would be 15 (+3 for Hermetic topic, +0 for L5 summa in an Art, +12 for a very high quality summa). Don't know how Isabel's specialization could apply using the system, so I'm assuming it won't. Rolled 1d10+10=16, so a L5Q15 summa on Corpus is found. 15 xp gained in Corpus and 1 xp in Triamore Library Lore.
  • Season 4: “Parma for Dummies” is now available (1d10=9), so he studies it for 10 xp. And 1 xp in Triamore Library Lore.
  • Season 5: [strike]Learn spell from lab texts in InCo (The Inexorable Search)[/strike] Learn spells from lab texts in InVi (see below) for 2 xp of exposure in Magic Theory
  • Season 6: Learn High German from a teacher (whoever is best suited to this) for 12 xp (plus 5 for Apt Student)
  • Season 7: Study “Control - Volume 2: Journeymen” as it is available (1d10=10) for 21 xp in Rego (plus Affinity)
  • Season 8: [strike]Learn spells from lab texts in InVi (see below)[/strike] Learn High German from a teacher for 12 xp (plus 5 for Apt Student)

As Animus has a lab total of 19 in InVi, he will try to learn as many low-level spells that he can and for which Triamore has lab texts. Those would be Sense the Nature of Vis (InVi 5), Scales of the Magical Weight (InVi 5), Sense of Magical Power (InVi 2) and The Invisible Eye Revealed (InVi gen at level 5).

EDIT 1: Take into account the availability of books in the library. There's no Corpus primer in the Library, so had to search for another summa.
EDIT 2: Could not learn The Inexorable Search because of the lower Corpus score, so rearranged some of the seasons.
EDIT 3: Finalize the spells learned based on what's available in the Library.

Animus, don't forget the experience (1 per book) in lore about the library! Also, there is no Corpus primer. Heh, I'm not the only one with a Rego Affinity.

For Adele:

For HIldegarde:

  • Story xp: Herbam 3xp-->5 from affinity and Fairy lore 5 xp rego 2-->3
  • Season 1: Install lab. Magic Theory +2
  • Season 2: Install lab. Magic Theory +2
  • Season 3: Read "Guide to Apples” by Horse ex Bjornaer (Herbam tractatus, Q17, Latin), for 26xp in Herbam and 1xp in Triamore Library Lore 1d10=5
  • Season 4: Read “Suppressing the Wizard’s Handiwork” by Malin ex Bonisagus. Triamore Library Lore +1, Rego +15 -> +23 1d10 → [9] = (9)
  • Season 5: Read “Parma for Dummies” for 10 xp in Parma Magica and 1xp in Triamore Library Lore 1d10=3
  • Season 6: looking for a high quality tractatus on Terram in Latin or French (difficulty : 11+3=14) from hermetic subject i'm asking Isabel 1d10+10=13 +1 speciality -1 difficulty from 2 languages : succed Triamore Library Lore +1, Terram +14
  • Season 7: Asking isabel for Animus's new found summa L5Q15 on Corpus or a similar in french (diff 14) 1d10+10=14 Triamore Library Lore +1, Corpus +15
  • Season 8: Learning ReCo spell lvl 25 Awaken the Slumbering Corpse (lab total int 2+aura 2+magic theory 4+ rego 13+ corpus 5 =26) +2xp exposure magic theory +5xp into mastery of the spell from Flawless magic.

Teaching (including apt student virtue):
free: 17xp
spending a pawn of vis: 22xp

Assume that the core book spells are available at the library, but no others.

What about general spells, like The Invisible Eye Revealed or Aegis of the Hearth? At what level would they be available in the library?

EDIT: Or variant for different Realms for spells like Sense of Magical Power and Piercing the Faerie Veil?

Ah, I forgot the lack of a Corpus primer. Animus will seek Isabel's assistance in finding a good Corpus summa.

Would that 1 xp on Triamore Library Lore also apply when simply using a primer or a book that's in The Pride of Triamore? My guess would be those are easily accessible, so I assume it wouldn't.

When about the lab texts? Are they well-indexed or does searching for a lab text also grant 1 xp in the library lore? As there doesn't seem to be a roll for that, I also assume it wouldn't.

I'll update my list, including the rolls to see if specific books are in use by another magus.

I think the difference you're looking at is the 1 vs 3 difference. If you have to go hunting around for it yourself, you get 3. If someone else does most the work for you, you get 1. Setting the books aside as they are is essentially the same as someone else doing the work for you.

You're probably right, as the line says "read a book" rather than find it. Just seeking confirmation from Pralix.

Pick a level divisible by 5 for general level spells (5, 15, 15, ...). Realm based spells only exist for the realms in the core book.

Seems like a fair way of oing it. Thank you callen.

So no Sense of Faerie Power nor Piercing the Magical Veil. :frowning:

Darn. Back to editing my list again. :stuck_out_tongue:

@Pralix : can you tell me if specialty apply on my test ?

Bitter, it looks like we're both planning on reading the Parma summa on season 4. (I had to move it already because I rolled that it wasn't available on season 3.)

So one of us need to move it to another season. Want to do a certamen?

Well doesn't seem like a good idea ^^ I switched to next season.

Are the things we "find" in the library available for others ? (i'm interested in the summa Animus found)

Oh, ya. I have to roll some, too. I'm not very picky about the order of the primers, though.

I'd do Certamen for fun. And Adele would do it for training.

Bitter, that summa is one of the special collection already set aside.

bitter: sorry I missed that.
specialty applies and French applies
