General Table Talk

Nah, I knew that would be the case. Just playing a careful character. Its all good.

I'm gonna be particularly busy for the next week or so. I know my character is just being overwatch, but I'm still floating up there.

I am trying to work on character, time has just been tight last couple weeks. That will bring us up to 3 players and you and you can always update thread looking for players to draw in one or two more.

Speaking of new players...

Hi folks, I've just been approved to join! I'll be playing a Tremere Duelist type character (I'll get the sheet up here shortly for review). Obviously I'm amazingly new to the forums, but I've been playing Ars for the better part of a decade at this point. However with the demise of my local gaming group, I've been forced to satiate my Ars addiction through PbP.

Anyhow, it's a pleasure to meet everyone and I'm very much looking forward to this game!

Welcome Andern!

Welcome!

This is entirely for color, but I thought I'd mention it. We have eight large temples in the covenant area:

  • Poseidon: God of the Sea. Patron god of Atlantis
  • Prometheus: God of Fire and Craft
  • Oranos: God of the Sky
  • Hecate: Goddess of Magic
  • Theia: Goddess of Sight (and Wealth)
  • Hyperion: God of Watching and Observation
  • Helios: God of the Sun
  • Oceanus: God of Oceans

The first one (to Poseidon) is taken up by Arviderax. The others are currently empty and can be used as labs/sanctums, the library, the council chamber, etc. Each temple is big enough to house a Size +3 lab (they're not all the same shape, but each has a main chamber that's on the order of 30x30). Each temple also has the following features: Well Insulated, Spacious, Dedicated Building, Grand Entrance, and Superior Construction. Several originally had features in them (e.g., a forge in the Prometheus temple), though they have all fallen to such disuse that they'd have to be reinstalled from scratch. Any of them can accommodate Extensive Stores, Feature (altar, antechamber, fireplace, lofty ceilings, wall),or Studio if such is desired. Other features are possible, of course. I was just listing the structural ones.

I recommend that we take the temple to Hecate and make it into the council chamber and library. That seems appropriate. Anyone else have a preference for the remaining temples?

Obviously Meliai would prefer the temple of Hecate.

Well, I think we'd all prefer the temple to Hecate. That's why I suggested we make that the library and council chamber.

Constantine would like Hyperion.

Of course, the perfect Quaesitor temple.

Meliai actually has Hecate as one of her Theurgical invocations... calling out to Hecate from inside her actual temple just seems so...

Next choice would be Theia

So does Magnus.

And it's quite possible that others would want the magical connection. Again, that's why I suggested we share Hecate's temple. We're all magi after all.

We could always put in a summoning chamber or a guest lab that could be used at need.

Magnus' second choice would be Oranos.

Well if it's common space, no reason you can't invoke from there. I'm in agreement that we'd all want her temple, so we're best leaving it a shared area.

As for Andor, he doesn't have a preference.

Oh, and FWIW, Magnus will be learning The Ambulatory Laboratory in Summer 1220. He's willing to cast it for anyone who wants their lab. He rolls a +8 on his roll, with the following for difficulty:

I'm going to assume that with the temple labs, the shapes of the old and new chambers don't match, but they're not radically different.

Frankly, for Magnus, he has no hope of making the roll because his refinement is so high. But he has Highly Organized, so basically he'll lose that but will keep all his refinement. YMMV, but as I said, Magnus will be happy to cast the spell for anyone who wants it.

Meliai never enhanced her lab, so she'll just start from scratch. Are there any integral virtues or flaws to any/all of the labs?

so 1 point of usable size after well insulated and spacious?

Correct. If you want to get rid of Spacious to take that point back, I'll allow that.

I wanted to make sure important information didn't get buried under my swarm of posts this weekend. So please remember:

  1. We are advancing through the end of 1220. Please update the Google Drive sheet (Seasonal Advancement) with your seasonal advancement. The Brave New World thread is a place to post about what you're doing in 1220.
  2. We are building the covenant. Please spend 300 build points as part of the covenant build. Current BPs can be seen here
