General Table Talk

It's only dangerous if it doesn't work.

Is Fleur going to bring up her interest in sending this letter to Farusca to the masters prior to sending it? I'd have to think about it, but I'm not sure Solomon would necessarily agree to airing their dirty laundry like that.

If she isn't planning on mentioning it to the others, then never mind 8)

She will show the letter to Carmen before sending it, to see how she feels about it. She wants to avoid showing it to Solomon in case anything she pleads in terms of hermetic law is incorrect, since the point is to recruit allies in dealing with this situation rather than dealing with the legal issues, and if wrong she wants to be able to plead ignorance. She figures if we can persuade Barcelona to move to separate Bellaquin from Provencal the fallout can be minimized since there is no relationship between Barcelona and Bellaquin to damage, plus it might leave Barcelona thinking it would be to their benefit to support Andora as a new tribunal. Especially if each tribunal can only submit 3 items for consideration at the grand tribunal, Barcelona could easily benefit from separating out a more northern Covenant into the Andoran Tribunal along with Bellaquin giving the Barcelonian Covenant less competition to have it's concerns heard at the grand tribunal.

unrelated question- any given season would Fleur be able to sell longevity potions? using the price I found listed elsewhere that would give her 55+2xage qpv, with a cost of 1 pawn per 5 years of age. Assuming an age 35 recipient (probably a redcap) that could net her 125-28=97 qpv in a season or roughly 24 pawns of vis...
... max age given where her MT will be at that time will be 100 years old, which would be 255-80=175 qpv net, or a few qp over 43 pawns.

That raises an interesting question. By the rules, devising LRs for others is far and away the best return on investment that a magus can make. Why isn't every magus with a halfway decent CrCo beating down the door to get the LR business?

Carmen woud approve of the letter.
As for Longevity, you could contract through the Mercere. After exenses, they will split the profits with you. They keep a quarter (or take that as a discount, since they will also be a prime customer).

If that's an option, then I gots ta get me some of that action!

Lucas's CrCo isn't quite as good as Fleur's. But there has to be a market for a rank 40 or 41 LR.

When did Vulcanus (and, presumably, Guiverna) arrive at Bellaquin? Valgravian referred to her as V's "accomplice", from which I inferred that they arrived at about the same time. The Magi Planner has Vulc's last season as Autumn of 1233, so anytime from Winter 1234 on.

I don't think it makes a difference advancement-wise, I just want to know how big of a lie she's telling Acutus.

Vulcanus left Andorra almost exactly the same time - to the day - as Antoine arrived; so Winter 1235.

Been very busy. I wil be playing catch up and dropping post bombs in the next day or two.

That's an abstraction for buying LR during Chargen. I'm not sure this holds out in game.

IMO, this is just like contracting any magi*: They have to pay the vis for the ritual (So, 7 pawns for a magus 35 years old) + the commission. And that would depend on your talents.
As far as I can tell, without taking into account the "assistant", Fleur can do a Int 3 + Creo 9 + Corpus 9 + MT 9 + Aura 5 + Familiar 6 + Lab ?? = lvl (41 + Lab) ritual.
I'd just base the commission on that, so 9 pawns.

  • As a general rule, this is the price I see magi putting on their services: Take their best lab total, divide by 5, per season. I'd have prefered something incremential, but it gets too quickly complicated for little gain.

Isn't the Aura in Sa Dragonerra only 3? That's the number I've been working with.

Also, isn't the 1 pawn per 5 years of age consumed by the ritual?

Yes it is, my bad.

Actually the Aura at a Sa Dragonera santcum starts at 1, but can be "bought up" to 3 by purchasing the +3 Strong Aura boon.

Right. I was thinking 3 because I've bought mine up to 3.

Fleur has an aura of 3, but also has customized her lab a bit: Magic theory will be 10 (or actually 8+2) by the time she gets around to this, and she has a lab bonus of +11 for creo, and her creo is at 12, not 9 To actually get to 55 she will have to raise a little more, but I'm calculating based on where she will be when she needs the vis, not where she is now.

I would reason the minimum level you could successfully market would be 50. Note that the Mercere guarantee a level 50 LR at age 35 to all Redcaps. If you can generate that and "advertise" your service, they would probaly contract you for one every few years and pay a commission.

Lucas could certainly help in negotiating with House Mercere.

There we go. We can make a possible story hook out of this.

Another idea I had was to play with Fredrika's story flaw with her master, pairing that with Solomon's flaw of a supernatural entity. The nature of these two are similar. Need to meditate on it.

We going to get stalked by demons?
