Exactly. And, for my part, as the father of a 7-and-a-half-year-old daughter, I'm going to enjoy the boundary-stretching roleplay of raising a 7-8-year-old girl.

Aye, but there's the rub: if it were so well-known, it wouldn't be so difficult--and the details obviously depend on the exact characteristics of the Supernatural Virtue in question (and the fact that there are no lab texts for it may be indicative here). I think it's notable that investigation an enchantment (another lab activity that relies exclusively on InVi) is explicitly listed in the experimentation section, even if it's not listed in the Inventive Genius description.

I wouldn't use IG here unless you experiment. Gut feeling.
Btw, Pralixians specialize in opening the arts, I believe. Why not hire one? Do some adventure or lab taski in exchange?
I'm not wild about the idea of having things you can experiment with but where IG doesn't apply otherwise: if it's something new and different where creativity is useful, that should always be the case.

Did you decide if you want to play Chryse? No pressure if you don't want to, but if you do I'll send you that pm with stat suggestions I mentioned.
Sure, I'm fine with taking on the role of Chryse; ironBoundTome above also suggested possibly playing that role. I'm happy to do it or not, whatever is useful.
JesseHeinig: I've sent you a pm about the stats.
On a separate note, someone (MTKnife?) probably needs to make a call on the IG applicability to Opening the Arts issue.
We seem to have 2 votes each way. Given my direct involvement, I'm hesitant to make a call on the split decision.
Anyone else?

John Graham 52: I doubt that Asena shares a room with a stranger of the opposite sex.
I would agree. I may have missed a post somewhere? Is it being suggested we need to share?
Gregorius is walking from room to room with the charter, I think.
The point on the labs brings out the question of what's happened with Stephen IC (as OOC Trogdor hasn't posted on this forum since about last April, and hasn't been on the boards at all since last September). I'm hoping that if he's left the covenant, he's given notice and freed up his lab (although Gregorius was rather hoping he'd do the translation of the lab texts from the previous covenant he agreed to do this Autumn).
Now I understand, we are in are own rooms rather than together. Thanks for the clarity.
Yes, that's right - sorry if I was unclear.
More likely I did not pick the data up correctly, it's been a long week.
Well, you are not alone, John - Jesse is also participating in the private conversation that happens in my new room. Maybe we could simply move the dialogue to the council chamber (for simplicity's sake)?
As for setting up labs - are there lab only seasons in this game? The idea of not being able to post for months (real life time) holds little appeal to me as a player, to be honest.
"Losing" two seasons of Asena's time to set up a lab is not a problem in itself. Asena would certainly be willing to do that, and if the covenant is very generous, they might even count it as serving the community and pay her some vis for it - she'll need vis anyway before she can start most labwork.
I'm not sure I understand this question. Guessing at a few things you could mean...you generally only need a lab if you're doing something that generates a lab total - you can study books or vis, or be taught, without one.
After the tribunal, we've got a time-jump planned for a couple of years - probably to Autumn 1230, although MTKnife can confirm.
I can appreciate that, but again, I'm not sure I'm getting what's triggering the comment - are you thinking of time whilst Gregorius talks to Timaios, or something else?
Probably best to keep this discussion IC.
Okay, I'll try again. To understand this, you have to separate what I, the player, want from what Asena, the character, wants.
My character is absolutely okay with setting up her own lab, because she has plans for lab projects (it's only fair). Although, of course, she'd prefer a set-up lab so she can start with her project without delay.
I, as a player, do not want my character to say: "I can set up a lab, no problem", if that means that you'll be playing the next two seasons of adventures until December 2019 or so while I can only watch because my character is stuck in the lab putting glassware on shelves (Ars Ikea).
This would be ideal. We have more new magi then available labs, I believe, so we will need some time to set up more. We could even have a friendly certamen about who gets an existing lab - in all my years of Ars magica, I have never seen one.
Ah. With an adventure that doesn't take a significant amount of IC time you can probably do both, but I get your point now and agree that would be bad.
It seems that the best solution would be to angle to a direction where we can all do lab setup simultaneously and have one season go by doing just that (for new people) or labwork/research (for established members). Since you don't have enough lab space ready to use, that should go on our list of goals: Figure out a way to set up additional lab space.
Likely this season's "adventure" will be reforming the covenant to accommodate.
