i will probably not be able to post before saturday, as i am attenting a training for work until friday
btw, you can carry on with the stories involving me or silveroak can post something he thinks my characters would do or say to move the story forward.
Isn't the aura 10 only part of the site? And 5 in the rest?
That was Skorba, Tarxien was just listed at a 10, and our extremely minimal survey just confirmed that, as well as a checkerboard pattern that no one noticed in game. The hill is bare, with no evidence of what produces the aura. So far.
So I've been reading over RoP:Magic, and I'm thinking that I'll probably use the magical character creation rules to create a companion, but I'm not entirely sure what to create, since they allow a great deal of freedom. I could make a magical sword, or a book, or an animal, or a spirit, and the magical abilities it had could vary considerably. But I do have a question that someone should be able to answer: is this a 'high powered' saga as those rules would consider it, and so a companion level character would start with a might of 15 before any modifications due to subtype/qualities?
That would be correct
I do want to ask that people keep a log of xp expenditures with their character sheet threads.
Yeah, for my companion I'm going to make either a different kind of magic animal from my attempt with the magpie, or a Redcap, I think. Maybe a magical cat? I don't really care about making my companion to be useful for my magus character as long as they are useful to the covenant as a whole. Prefer not to have my companions/magi be directly linked, although links to other players magi/companions are fine with me. Would a second Redcap be too many Redcaps?
Also, does anyone in here have Metacreator? I've been considering getting it, but I don't know anyone who has it and am reluctant to drop that much money on something that I might not find that useful. I also have heard good things about Sub Rosa but don't really know whether the majority of the content in it would be useful for me or if any of it would be permitted in play by most storytellers. I do really want to grab the Diedne issue, though. I was so disappointed that the Ars Kickstarter didn't succeed because I would love a Diedne book.
Every time I have reviewed a character made with metacreator it has been a massive headache of corrections needing to be made. At least that I know of...
Will try to post tomorrow ! Wow that day saw a lot of things happening !
I´m back from a long business trip and it seems the next time will be more relaxing.
I´m just reading the first adventures of your group.
Do you see a change for me to play Frederic?
Of course I would like to finish him first.
That would be fine, we just need to figure out what he was doing during the spring and summer (assuming he gets finished soon, we may need to include fall if not) that does not involve an adventure.
Trying to figure out what Asha the scribe should have been doing in Spring and Summer.
She has Com +2, Dex +3, Scribe 6, Bookbinder 3, and Illuminator 3. Is that enough for her to make useful copies of books for the covenant to sell? Or is there something better we would assign her to do?
Nice! ![]()
I will try to fish him soon and think about what he was doing during spring and summer. If it takes longer than expected we can adjust his story accordingly.
Besides scribing (she could also borrow the item of Quality Quill for a +7 bonus to scribing totals), she could teach scribing - I notice we have galiana as an active member who only has a 3 in scribe skill. She could also write a book on any subject she has at 2 or above (realisticly, 4 or above required to make it useful). For example, she could write a level 2 primer on Arabic or Latin. Likely we could easily buy better than this, but it is an option.
My 2 cents would be on copying texts, which she could do at a ridiculous pace.
Lecture notes! Lecture notes! With a scribery total of 6+7 that's 13 in scribing! We could make top tier tracti!
Actually I have no idea, but its a thought.
Usually the useful part of lecture commentaries is that they let you produce additional tracti on top of the limit for that ability. Like a Latin of 5 would normally let you produce 3 tracti, and then you could produce 5 lecture commentaries on top of that? A 13 scribing total would be pretty extreme though, and might actually produce higher quality books than the original writer could? I think that might be the sort of thing that's not actually supposed to happen though.
Its not too bad if the character earned the 13 scribery through xp. Compared to say 13 in a Cult Lore its not that big a deal. I probably wouldn't let the scribing bonus from the Quill count though.
I was thinking straight up copying. She can copy 13x60=780 levels of lab texts (or just about every text in the library three times over), or 19 levels of summa in a single season (57 levels at SQ-1, or just about every summa in the library). Unfortunately, she could still only copy one tractatus (3 at SQ-1).
She really needs Magic Theory skill so she can do this without corrupting the texts, rendering them useless.
Got it - she should read the Magic Theory Tractatus this season, then next season she can copy the whole library.
Silveroak, is it reasonable for Asha to have spent the Sping reading the Tractatus, and Summer working on making copies of stuff using the nice quill?
