Table talk (Bibracte)

It would probably be a sailor/pirate grog adventure. I need to whip up about another 10 or so sailors of all ages 16 and up.

I absolutely think that it should be a different spell to Leap to a person.

And I'm all for a Companions/grog plotline.

Okay, JL, I'll try to whip up something, a young grog. Don't hesitate to remind me, as I may forget.

Assuming this is even possible (something I'm not sure now that I've seen guidelines and spells), I don't think it is very desirable.

Ok Peregrine, I have three potential players, care to whip up a sailing/pirate adventure story?

One note about these sailors, they are led by a maga normally, and by and large sleeps with all of them (Lecherous major personality flaw) sometimes several at a time. So, one thing to keep in mind, is on this particular voyage there won't be any captain's privilege so to speak. And the sailors must have +1 or greater presence. That's all I ask for the grogs. Some should probably be older and some should be younger, any you don't whip up, I will.

Okay, I'll see what I come up with when I'm in a little better mood. Might be a couple of days.

So. I was out mowing the lawn Tuesday afternoon, about 5 or so. I don't normally have my phone on me when I'm mowing the lawn, because I get phantom tingles if I have it on vibrate and I can't hear it when I don't. I'm also bad about checking my phone for missed calls or messages whenever I'm back where my phone is. Along about 7ish, I remember to check my phone and see two missed calls, at 5:11 and 5:43, from the same local number that sounds familiar. I'm pretty sure it's the chocolate place I interviewed for last week. And I'm thinking, sweet! They called twice in half an hour, that's a good sign, right?

I call them back after breakfast Wednesday morning, around 8.30 or so, and sure enough, it is the chocolate place. The part-owner I interviewed with isn't in yet, so I leave my name and number. And I wait. And I wait. And I wait some more. She finally calls back a little after four, to let me know that she had narrowed the field down to two for the position, neither of which was me.

So, right now, I'm not in a very good mood, nor in a very good place emotionally. And some other stuff going on yesterday all over the place didn't help my mood much. So, if I come across as pissy, bitchy, cranky, or otherwise not my normal shooting-rainbows-out-my-ass kinda guy, I apologize and hope you understand.

I'm about/../ close to moving this saga over to Obsidian Portal. It will involve me ponying up some cash. The forum's performance the past few weeks has been pretty abysmal.

Read apprentices. Quite good IMO, and able to simulate apprenticeship finely, whatever the side: You can have innate powers, taught ones, and accidents

I was quite pleased to see that it could do both Hiems "natural" powers and his "learned" ones, and, thinking about ulrich, would advise peregrine to think about what inherited v/f he wants to develop, since it is such a great guide to character building.

This stopped me dead, gaping stupidly at my screen.

I'm really sorry for you. Hoping for something good, only to have it crash back, can be quite painful, especially when it would be a rare chance in your life.
And when things pile on... It sucks.

If you need to cry, cry, it helps, but then, take some time, flee any painful thoughts, read, listen to music, go out and see some friends if you can, watch some movies, play video games... Anything to take your mind out of it. And, well, just take care of yourself. And if you wanna write to someone far enough so it can't get back to you, feel free to do it.

No, she told you that the compulsion effect had been broken by her familiar.

Seriously, between Korvin's "I think you should go make your own covenant" and Alexei's "you are the weakest link" I am having a harder and harder time imagining why in the hell Laetitia would put up with this bullshit.

Because the alternative is worse.

But seriously, Apollodorus told everyone to not blame Laetitia. Perhaps I should retcon it to say to trust Laetitia.

Betraying one's principles isn't so bad when it means not getting treated like the bottom caste.

It's particularly hilarious when she's told she's "more vulnerable" than people with a full four magnitudes less resistance against Mentem effects.

Those are arguments that could sway him. IC Alexei agonizes over this, to be honest, it is partly from Laetitia succeeding in changing some of his Dudley-do-right naivete that he'd even say this. It's a complete IC decision, OOC (without metagaming or anything) I'm sure she could be trusted.

Well from an OOC position, Laetitia is a PC and should be working with the other PCs. From a totally IC perspective, the Boys of Mons Electi talking out their asses is achieving what decades of indoctrination in House Guernicus never could: convincing Laetitia that the Order is a bunch of boobs who need the Guernici to lead 'em around by the nose.

OR the Tremere...

Well the other thing is what could be a faulty assumption on my part.

My assumption is that someone could use the portal and not know the password if accompanied by one that did know it. It might not make Laetitia feel any better, but I assumed she could still use it. But if they can't use it period without the password, then that's one more reason to be used against Alexei's arguments.

Alexei is not drawing a line in the sand on this, he can be swayed, sorry if it's angering people, i think it's a better argument had IC though.

Once the person with the password activates it, he can hold it open on either end by leaving a body part, say a hand in it, kind of like keeping the elevator door open.

If this is going to be done IC, take it to the 100 pieces thread.

Alright, Laetitia, put on your slapping gloves, Alexei is about to open his mouth and unleash some offense.

Yeah, well, everyone has a breaking point.

I'll start working on a Companion to play until new magi would be appropriate.

It's cool, this might give Laetitia a chance to salvage her boyfriend

I hoped to put Alexei's turmoil in this. I'm sure it offended the hell out of you, but as I go back over the events, so much of the things that have happened basically happened on his watch, and Laetitia was one that took it to him on his naivete. That he got it wrong (again) I'd say is par for the course.
