gotcha

Yes, but she is actually wearing an actual cloak - a magical item generating that one-sense illusion. So the cloak is still there....
Or, are you saying she's walking around with an unfastened cloak because of the illusion?

PS: Yes, sponting a regio detector up to T: Vision is cool, regardless

This.

Even if it is a fastened cloak, those things don't have sleeves.

A few ideas to add to the pot for gathering vis. I like the ones that are there (particularly the Baubles of the Wind).

  • The Victorious King of the Great Game: some smart chess-playing covenfolk?
  • The Lonely Grave’s Corpus: since warding or controlling ghosts is Rego, looks like Isen would be best suited.
  • The Spring’s Break of Frost: shouldn't grogs be able to handle this? (Our boy Phillipe in charge perhaps?)

In the Doesn't Play Well With Others category, Tranquillina is extremely disinclined to handle any of the vis-gathering duties, despite the fact that she knows Leap of (The) Homecoming.

Magic items (charged perhaps) can help out, such as an item that holds the ghost at bay.

Ironically, because the source isn't Contested, the gnomes end up being really bad at chess.

I wasn't sure if anyone had a particular interest in Mentem or ghosts. And we're in a Rego Aligned aura and have Apollodorus's book on Rego. We're ALL going to become rego specialists sooner or later.

The Rego book is in Hermetic Greek, though, right? Of course, once we all learn to read/write/speak it, it should be a (relative) slam dunk, but still.

Speaking of...did we ever decide (since, apparently, the new officers' slate goes into effect the season after Tranquillina arrives (in Summer of 1223), which would be Fall of '23) whether the seasons that we had slated for Princeps Duties are freed up for other pursuits now?

I don't remember us deciding (and it doesn't affect Tranquillina), but it seems reasonable that those Princeps seasons could be freed up.

Yes, and the Greek Teacher is SQ 18 for one-on-one teaching which means 3 seasons to get above 4. Four seasons will get you to 72xp/not-quite-5....unless you can think of a way to bump him up a quality point.

As for freeing up those Princeps seasons, hold your non-linear horses, sonny-girl. Vote first, THEN free the seasons

Kidding aside, AFAIK, I am the only one who has made a suggestion about when to put it into affect. And, notably, that decision ends up meaning that I have the last princeps seasons ~weeps for my lost season~. Nobody else has said anything.

It's a person with whom you've formed a close relationship based on shared experience and emotional connection. But that's not important right now.

I see what you did there. (Definite Airplane/Naked Gun-is sound to it.)

Awesome sig line. Love it! Had me giggling when I saw it, there.

I don't care to tell stories about collecting vis for this saga, wasn't the point, plenty of other things to keep my eyes on. Although players can write narratives about the process, if they'd like. If there is a desire to do a vis hunt, there's the possibility of a Luctatio, which involves some element of risk/chance at collecting it, and will require some kind of journey, as well.

If someone does write a narrative about collecting a vis source, don't make it too challenging, otherwise you create some problems for yourself down the road. Unless you want those problems, of course. Also, keep in mind that if you create problems for your characters that won't prevent me from piling on... at the worst possible time.

Weekend absences. Sorry the past few weekends have been so...sparse (or nonexistent) for posting. This will probably continue for some time. There's a local con this weekend, so I won't be posting then. Next weekend is a family trip, last two weekends were my daughter's birthday party (and one of her friend's on the other day) and pumpkin patch/fall activity stuff.

I've decided not to pursue a NaNoWriMo this year. I think if I did that, on top of all my other commitments, well, I'd need to be committed. I may prepare girding my loins for doing one next year, though.

Mainly, the point of that exercise was to make sure we COULD all collect the vis without worrying about it. The one with the ghost and the rose petals is the only really uncertain one. Though, if she's only a Might 5 Ghost, then anybody besides Fiona could probably spont the Ward Circle to keep her out.

I'm also intrigued by the idea of the Luctatio, but my character really doesn't have time before the next Tribunal. How about if I say that Viscaria interested in checking out the list during Tribunal for the next seven years? That way you've got a heads up and time to come up with stuff.

(As a tangent, I'm now going to go post concept requests on the Ars board, just to flesh out my own collection.)

It's never too early to do prep work.

I'm going to pass on NaNo again this year, too, even though I haven't done it since I moved (in '08)..I just have no idea what to do if I did. Closest I've come is taking my lady pro wrestler character from my crime story and either do a series of short stories for her, or plug her into my lost world story. shrug

Totally doing NaNo this year. I've had this idea rattling around in my head since I realized I'd missed the start of last year's.

That would be extremely interesting, politically speaking, if Mons Electi joins a different tribunal.

I would imagine that the interest in Luctatio would be....quite unprecedented, for the year between the Normandy Tribunal and the Grand Tribunal.

Oh come on people! :unamused:  This happened in another thread too. It's a giant cloak, with a fastener the size of a bread plate. When I Google "cloak" and look at the images, I'm convinced that the default is a very unrevealing garment. (Well, except that one. But that's not her!)

Also, I'm failing my Ars Magica Lore roll ... please remind me what Luctatio is?

Hey. Serves you right for having images of your brooch but not your pants on your character sheet.

You failed your OoHLore roll because it's a +3 modifier for something Normandy Tribunal Specific. Next time, use Normandy Tribunal Lore.

Vis Sources in Normandy are divided up into types. Any vis source more than a day's roundtrip "march" from the "covenant council chambers" belongs to the Tribunal, not to a specific covenant. If it's easy to harvest, then its a tropaeum and it gets handed out as a prize at the Tribunal every 7 years. If it takes some specific skill set or daring-do to collect, then it is a Luctatio and is fair game for anyone who can come and collect it.
