Sorry, my internet isn't working properly at home, so I can't reply much. It's been acting up for a few days, and they claim it's a regional problem that they're trying to fix.
I don't have anything planned for the vote-gathering visits. In fact, it is up to you as a troupe to decide if the vote gathering for acceptance into the Rhine will be resolved through stories, letters, or off-screen narrative. It just need to be handled in some way.
What I do plan on running is a Tribunal story about the final decision of the Rhine covenants based on the actions taken to gather those votes.
I'd say that for Dankmar a story is essential... since they can die both when entering and leaving the Black Forest
But overall, i think that a mix would be good. Not every vote gathering needs a story.... im sure that some of the more "safe" ones can be done with a letter or off-screen.
That's one more reason why I'd like Celest and Alba to arrive sooner. The magi need to make plans to gather those votes. And letters take time to travel back and forth.
With just Clusius and Regulus currently active, it is unlikely that they could make it in time for Tribunal.
Unless the troupe is considering waiting for the Tribunal meeting of 1214 to petition the Rhine for inclusion? That would generate its own kind of stories.
I think even if Alba and Celeste arrive early it's unlikely (albeit not impossible) to gain support until 1207, so we should at least prepare ourselves for a denial and to try again in 1214.
To put forward again our current list of covenants and how we intend to negotiate with them:
Covenant | Responsible |
Negotiation | Price |
---|---|---|---|
Triamore | Clusius | Letter | Diplomacy |
Durenmar | Regulus/Celeste | Presential | Diplomacy |
Oculus Sept. | Celeste | Letter | Donation of vis or purchase of goods |
Fengheld |
Alba | Letter | Diplomacy |
Irencillia | Alba/Celeste | Letter | Diplomacy |
Roznov | |||
Terschelling/Waddenzee | Celeste | Letter | Support for their move on Tribunal |
Crintera | |||
Dankmar | Regulus/Celeste | Presential | Story |
Does this seem like it? I'm assuming that for everything listed as "diplomacy" we can gain a sponsor with a well placed argument (and we actually have a reasonable argument).
For example, Regulus would argue with the Quaesitor of Durenmar that his presence and Turgurium joining are good for Rhine, Clusius would writte a letter to his hermetic uncle framing his support as necessary to assure Tugurium's existence (and therefore, the vis payments), etc.
Discussions by letter are a bit more prone to failure, I suppose, and might need to be reinforced or detailed at the Tribunal, in the week before the actual proceedings.
Roznov and Crintera are lose ends, we have little way to influence them as of now. We could trust that, if we manage to gather everyone's else support, they won't have any reason to deny it either (both are far from us and won't compete for resources). Of course, maybe this trust is foolish and they end up not supporting us, so there's a risk to just ignore them.
Idk... those lose ends are risky, but everything else is feasible. I mean, we can send the letters in Summer/Autumn 1205, and we can receive the answer around Spring/Summer 1206. If there is no answer or its necessary to push things, we could do a travel (in 1 month you can visit a covenant... i mean, we can potentially visiting several places in the same season).
The Tribunal is in Summer? If both Celeste and Alba comes in late Spring 1205 (i think that its the desirable date), and we have until Summer 1207, that means... (9 seasons, -1 the first Spring, -2 Winters, -1 first Summer with Vis adventure) 5 seasons to do everything (3 if we consider Spring and Autumn as half seasons to do travels due the cold). And sending letters should be free time (taking into account the slow send/receive answer process, ofc).
So, i think that we should have the time. That doesnt mean that its impossible that something go wrong, but time shouldn't be the main issue (we are talking about 2 travels there, Dankmar and Durenmar). It will be hard, but we have chances.
And thanks for that table, its very useful
As per GotF p. 24:
The formal proceedings begin on the eve of the 1st of May (Walpurgis Night), and typically last for well over a week, with a great deal of politicking taking place before, during, and afterwards.
So, Spring.
Covenants arrive before the Tribunal proper, with Fengheld arriving "over a month in advance" (I assume they are usually the earliest). Crintera is stated to always be the last covenant to arrive (this might mean that we won't have enough time to discuss support with them before Tribunal begins).
Then we have 2 seasons to make travels related with that... if nothing else occurs in the covenant, its feasible... but we start to have time issues (and something will happen in the covenant).
Tugurium's vis sources aren't very far away, so the story is unlikely to take a whole season. There should be plenty of time for travel afterward, unless someone gets injured.
I've changed the years and i've finished adding some hooks to help in the future
@Red-Shadow-Claws everything ok? Got the chance to adjust Celeste?
@Arthur do you think we can begin that vis collection story?
Nominally Regulus should still be returning from Confluensis to Tugurium on the summer solstice of 1205, but we can adjust it so that he arrived earlier (with no impact on his seasonal activities, to keep things simple).
I adjusted today the years, but still have to rewrite the part about the enrichment of the Opal of Virtue, and to add more Vis that she collected in her adventures.
And to add the season of Spring 1205, when she set up her lab. Which I still need to get the final virtues and flaws for.
I can start it off later this week. I've been taking some time off to enjoy the summer.
July 20-25 I will be traveling, so will not have time to reply.
We need to roleplay the arrival first anyway
When Arthur finishes enjoying his summer.
(Good for him, it's cold and raining where I live. XD)
Maybe we don't need a separate thread for the arrival? It could use the same one as the vis collection story. As Arthur decides. =]
I prefer cold and raining btw ^^! I dislike summer
Or maybe the one where everyone arrived at the time (First Wave)
Created a new topic for the arrival of the new magi.
