I Believe Mark was implying that all magi should be able to at least defend themselves to some extent if put in a tight spot, like say seperated from their grogs or in an aura or dominion that reduces their effectiveness, counter wizard war or something as simple as a mugger in the street.

I have posted a thread .... and Ravens for the mages travelling from Durenmar to Ad Fons and just put a post in startng things moving
If we are traveling together, My stone sled probably has plenty of storage and can carry 3 if two have no MR (Front bench is 5' wide so two can fit on seat, back compartment is 5' wide, 6' long and 3' high so plenty of storage room and someone can ride there too.). Moves up to speed of a galloping horse.
Some people have a flying carpet, I have a flying stone block (it is either 3 1/2 cubic paces if you count actual rock or 7 cubic paces if you treat it as if just 1 solid block by measurement (what it was carved from)
By the way, I never really realized the power of terram. ReTe 5 (duration) moves 1 cubic pace of stone (over 2 tons of stone). Katja's stone sled weights almost 8 tons when she isn't using it since it is solid stone.
Also, when we camp for the night, Clay walls for campsite will be spont'd. (stone if raining but that takes more than 1 spell)
I am behind schedual. I will post my character tomorrow
The post I thought I added yesterday seems to be missing. Will try and replace it tonight
Finally got the journey under way in the and Ravens thread
I promise I will get things together and get a sheet up soon. Busy week
It will be a while before stats are needed
bam! Character sheet is posted. Still need to make calculations for his combat scores and write a background paragraph, but he is 95% completed. Ricardo Ibenez.
Post in the And Ravens thread too to start RPing.
I seem to remember that an arcane connection does not work across a regio boundary does anyone else remember this or am I remembering an earlier edition or House rule
Earlier edition house rule I think. Arcane Connections do not function between the mundane and Magic Realm, but a regio is far less impsing than than the Magic Realm.
Sorry, very difficult to me to post, I have very very little time. Trying to get back.
On a side note, I, too, find Parma Magica 7 from a magus 5 years out of apprenticeship to be greatly exagerated ( ), although certainly legit.
On the other hand, it means he did almost nothing else after apprenticeship. 3 full years of xp went into Parma (90 xp) after he completed apprenticeship since he only had a 5.
I guess if he was that single minded, who are we to complain. If he becomes a threat to the covenant, we will overwhelm him with grogs and weapons.
He combined an Affinity with Parma with Puissant Parma. It only took 50 xps to get a score of 5+2 (7). He is doing the whole "School of Ramius" thing, so he is more focuses on his defenses and self enhancement.
Is Ardath secretly Fixer? Dude! Wassup?
Wassup? I wanna sleep!!!
And yes, it's the whole "I spent 2 whole years studying parma, having the chance to have appropriate books disponible only to me" that I find a little difficult to believe, albeit of course possible.
It also depends slightly on his selection of mundane skills: It is more believable if the looks like a post-apprenticeship mage who sunk 2 years in it than a crippled magus (all arts, spells and parma, almost no skills) who went on to study more magic.
I have noticed that a lot of flambeau focus mindlessly on arts, parma and penetration sinec that is what their house is about. Magical battle is the center to the house. Create a pit of gaping earth beneath his feet and he takes falling damage. Once he jumps out, you do it again and again.
I admit that this particular flambeau is good in combat and only combat with no use outside of combat. Thanks to his huge size, berserker , driven, judged unfairly, and reckless. Basically wait for a battle situation and point him in that direction and then clear out of the area. Then again, the right spells stop him cold (especially wards against weapons of wood and metal, repeated pits of gaping earth, stone walls.)
Katja actually has good chance to defeat him if she gets initiative. She conjures a stone wall in his way and keeps doing it or drops him in pits of earth. He is so focused on PArma and sword attack that he neglected finesse, penetration and persuasio skills. He will lose a lot of Ceramen because he only has a very limited forms.
Eventually he will be forced to diversify, to learn other languages outside latin and other skills to persuade fellows in tribunal or deal with debate contests. As it is, he does seem to have missed some XP that shuold be on general skills (FEral upbringing is age 0-5 but you don't apprentice until 7 or older so 2 mid years are missing).
Well gang, I will be away for a few days. I will have restricted internet access but I try my best to keep up. Next Saturday I can post as normal.
I will make sure the plot does not rush ahead too far
