Table talk: OOC

 Welcome back, falls

I may be unavailable tommorrow and monday

Just looking at character sheets I have noticed that most characters have Order of Hermes lore which to me seems to be the Hermetic version of Organsiation Lore.
I mention this as I interpret that as being a different skill to Code of Hermes the skill from the ARM5 Book which I interpret as a detailed knowledge of Hermetic law, while the other skill is more a knowledge of magi, tribunals, history and organisation and includes some knowledge of Heremtic law but not the sort of detailed stuff the Quasitors care about.

The main reason I am bringing this up is that the only PC with Code of Hermes is Mariella and it could be that everyone else considers "Order of Hermes lore" and "Code of Hermes" as being the same thing in which case I will do so should it become important

I myself do not consider them to be the same thing. My view is much the same as yours. Order of Hermes Lore gives you knowledge of famous magi, covenants, and legends of the order. It gives you absolutely know knowledge of Hermetic Law whatsoever. Mayhaps a "passing familiarity"; you know the Oath, you know that Tribunal is where you can have your greviences heard, you know that Quaesitores like to poke their nose in peoples business. But you do not know what a lawful tribunal consists of (12 magi from 4 covenants), you do not know any of the specifics of rulings or even the theory of law. You have a layman's understanding, which is actually very little and mostly false presumption.

That does sum up my opinion. I don't see the need for most mages to be lawyers, Mariella specifically intend to become a hoplite so has the law skill

Now the boards are back up I will try and progress the threads tommorrow.

Hello everyone! Good that this boards are back again. I am travelling this weekend so on Monday I will be back as normal.

Nope, you are right in your interpretation, this is quite clear in the rules.

And you forgot Ardath (Code 1, OoH Lore 1). I almost always take these 2 skills at 1+, since, IMO, most magus have the basics of them.

Oh, and I just hate the new forums. What happened?

I didn't forget I just have trouble accessing her character sheet so didn't check.

This is I think the next version of the Forum software as the old version got hacked and infected everyone with a virus (Noticably it took down my PC at work infected the network and has caused our IT Manager to upgrade the patches and antivirus software on our system)

Covenant Lay out
Some assumptions I have made
We have a Manor house and walled garden which is the covenant proper, located around the manor house is the village , I have assumed a wooden stockade around the village with the tower and its stone wall off to one side .
The Guest house located next to the entrance to the walled garden with the Aegis covering the village within the stockade.
I would love to produce a map but have no way of turning any I produce into an image I could put on line

You know, ou can do a lot with a page of text and X, O nad other letters to show what is where. The image I got from descriptions prior to this one was a manor hour with stables and wall and some land belonging to the owner of the manor and then a short walk to the village with aegis around the manor.

It changes a lot of things if the Aegis covers the village. Like namely I could not have flown my self from outside aegis near covenant entrance to middle of town (or need to fly it back to covenant). Until I have token, I can't fly sled into the covenant as I can't penetrate 20 resistance with a spell of transportation to get something into the aegis. I can only use magic to get things out.

I also just realized that my first transportation spell worked, I was subtracting full aegis rather than half aegis for spell to get out to my sled and that with 20 casting total - 10, means spell goes off with 1 fatigue lost.

One of the problems of on line games is that it is easy to form different views of the game world without the other people involved noticing, looks like we had different ideas of the layout of the covenant.

Also I forgot to check your maths so I failed to spot your first spell would have worked

This is why for my offline game, I pulled up paintbrush and drew our covenant to react a picture to distribute. Everyone could see what we had. If you can do up a paintbrush map and email it to me, I can arrange to post it such that everyone can see the image.

Work is intermittently blocking this web site which slightly reduces my posting and importantly means I will have a lot of trouble posting on wednesdays as I don't get home until about 11pm

Andrew once your story has concluded I have a story to run. It involves a visit to Kolberg...

Very nearly finished once I can resolve Katja's actions the other magi will return home can do any talking and then it is done

due to some minor personal problems I am ending running my plot now as I do not have the time or patience to put up with it. At the moment I just want to kill someone so running a game is not a good idea.

Hope it solves in a peaceful way, otherwise make sure that you end up in a prison cell with access to your Ars books and Internet connection.

Now I have a story that I could run and I start it up in a few days. But first I need to know. How many are still here to play? Is there still a reason to play or shall we close up and leave Justus and the other magi at Ad Fons to their fate. Also even if we continue and I hope that we will then I want to know who are going on that story. I am going to have Justus to make a little trip on his own to explore the secrets of the Pomeranian.

I am still around , just going to be a bit busy for the next couple of weeks. Everything should be resolved by then and my temper has calmed down a lot

I am still here
