[Table Talk] Return of Table Talk

Unless anyone has anything to add to the dinner, the fall season is about to pass...

Steve

Fall season is over that fast? Oh No! I haven't even figured out what Azaelle was doing all season! I'm so behind schedule. oh no oh no oh no...

Azaelle was hiding in a cave cooking up something devious while her creator was drawing Nazis in a dogfight with the Hawkmen from Flash Gordon.

Oh yeah. That's my job.

Was there anything special about the metal that Faedrun wanted me to use? If it was higher value than base metal I actually wouldn't have been able to open the enchantment.

Then from there I'd need the lab total for the longevity ritual and what form it takes.

If you can't open the item, you could always ask Mathius to do it....

I had to work today (it's a Saturday here in the states), I should be getting stuff out tonight and tomorrow...

Steve

I thought that Albertus where quite calm after his fox hunting (and give the others a chance to shine) but perhaps he should be doing anything.

Qcipher, Azaelle has a puzzle to figure out. Would Fab like to help?

Well I must do anything to get something to happen here.

What do you think? What kind of discovery would a Maps Range be? I think it mechanically wise it would equal Arcane Connection in Range. The actual Discovery level would likely be minor.

New ranges and such are listed as Minor Breakthroughs. I would go with the same ranking as Arcane Connection as well... which might make the resulting spell a ritual (book not handy at the moment...) ?

I had a ranting to go in this spot, but it's better reserved for a time when I'm a bit more coherent, not 0410 (4:10am CDT)...

Steve

Rantings are best at 4 am! It's the only way to achieve real genuine lunacy.

Ok, last night's rant...

Please, do not be offended. You are probably as frustrated as I am.

I'm through with trying to be subtle, at least in the Table Talk topic.

If you want to find out what some of these secrets are, start digging. Carpe Diem! Take the initiative! The covenfolk aren't going to tell you much, because the secrets are their secrets, and they wouldn't be secrets (or stories of varying sizes) if they simply told you.

For instance, it took someone nearly six months to realize there was a locked chest in their lab...! If you want to find out what some of these things are, start doing some legwork, and investigating. A good place to start would be the rather disorganized library (again, an NPC has been the only one to sort through it, though only for a season), and if you can find out where Corvus flew off to (Perhaps, Provence, and the warm winters there?) the bumper book of secrets might yield some clues.

For instance - you wish to find out more about the occurences on Samhain Night? There's some barrows to the south with an ominous, evil reputation. It's one of the covenant's vis sources, even. Right now, an NPC has been collecting the vis. I may change this by storyguide Fiat. Deirdre could simply start assigning the tasks. I really don't want to do that. I watched one game on Townhall come apart at the seams because the Storyguide tried to force an issue with the PCs, and the NPC simply incinerated them when they disagreed.

I've been trying to keep the NPC's from overshadowing the PC's, because simply, they can. There might even be a reason, for instance, why Mab and Deirdre aren't running the tribunal, or even why they aren't even mildly involved with the tribunal politics! Why do various personages from the Order at large come to visit Mab, Deirdre, or both?

There is a whole list of questions that answers are needed for. I encourage you to come up with a list of them, and start seeking answers for them, without my input. I'm trying to keep the small local stuff down to problems that can be solved in the off days of a season, but some of the larger things are going to be spread out over a season (or more).

Thank you, and good day!

Steve

Albertus is curious but his primary concern is his lab and his research concerns. Perhaps some day when he is more settle in he will go look for interesting things but not now. I am not interested in getting free clues of nice thing to look into to find the big tresure. Tribunal politics isn't one of Albertus great interest but the library could be. Well perhaps he should be doing some things just for the fun of it.

Steve, we need more information in game. Table top games are a little more forgiving and perhaps this is our shortcoming as players. Many of us have never done PBP before but if there is something important to a character's development, it kind of has to reach out and grab them. If there was a locked chest in my apartment I might not find it for 6 months if my apartment happened to exist only in an ethereal plane made up in the mind of a person that lived half way across the country.

Please don't be mad at me and attack my character with demons.

There have been a few things I would have investigated but Azaelle would have no way of knowing it was there or else it was out of character for her to do so, such as investigating or even going outside on Samhain.

As to why Mab and Diedre do anything, it has been established that Mab is a nut and Diedre is a bad ass not to be trifled with so whatever she is doing, best to let her do it unless you have a very good reason to do otherwise or you like the smell of your hair on fire.

I am enjoying this bit I concocted with Azaelle and Fab. (Thank you, quicpher for playing along  ) Steve, feel free to throw an NPC or a monkey wrench or anything into the mix.

Relax, Steve. It's all good. We just need your input. Don't go all Deus ex Machina on us but a little more information would be appreciated.

I'm TOTALLY gonna get attacked by demons or something.

There are worse things to be attacked by...

Cute little white bunnies... :unamused:

Steve
(Who did, quite blatantly, mention the chest).

 Cute little white bunnies? Oh no! I soiled my armor!

Okay I don't know what you mean about the chest.

Someone was exploring a lab they had taken over, searching through the rooms, and learning how things worked. Included was a paragraph describing the former resident's bedchamber, wherein a locked chest, marked with some very obvious symbols, was mentioned. This happened off-camera to most of the players.

Steve

Arcane Connection Range doesn't require a ritual, the Boundary Target does though.

As for the Rant, I see what you mean. Everyone can get so caught up on their own personal projects that they might miss some Scooby Doo moments.

Just a heads up, I'll be going to Las Vegas tomorrow, don;t have much time to post tonight, but I'll have access to internet while I'm there so I should be able to post.

Cyas

He is lost to us, as are his wages lost to him.

That's whay they call it Lost Wages, after all...
