yearly planning chart

I didn't notice sorry, Aurthor will enchant the amulet for Lady A in spring and will read the mentem summae in winter.

Taking a more active awareness of his Apprentice's work, Oliverius is going to instruct Arduino's book-reading time to focus on the high-quality primers for the art. I noticed that Arduino is reading level 15/quality 17 books, instead of the more useful-for-apprentices Level 7/quality 28 or Level 6/quality 21 books.
Also, question for leo, were you hoping to have Oliverius teach Arduino the Major Magical Focus in metals? It looks like he does have the teaching quality for it.

For raccoonmask

Yeah, at first sight I thought that Oliverius with his book learner virtue would lose some XP reading the primers. Now I see that it is the better strategy except for Terram, with book learner and affinity he can avoid to loose 3 XP reading Uncovering the Bones of the Earth L15 Q17 summa instead of the L7 Q28 primer.

I already purchased the Focus on Metal as an inherited virtue, I plan to make it emerge together with the blatant gift flaw sometime in the future (when Arduino will be 16/17 years old I think).

I'd like to have Oliverius teach Arduino Affinity with Creo and Puissant with Magic Theory minor virtues instead. I think he has the teaching total needed (including the apt student virtue of his apprentice and perhaps the teach lab for the second virtue).

One more thing racconmask, do you want Arduino to enchant the Ring of Theodorus or will he have class on Philosophiae in winter?

I can't teach Puissant Magic Theory since it's not a hermetic virtue. I can do Affinity with Creo though.

Since silveroak has said those are all to be ordered in 1125, and made in 1126, I'm scheduling all of that for next year.

Hi leo! Puissant in (skill) is a General Virtue, not Hermetic, so it can't usually be taught.

Obviously the Bonisagus can, but it takes years of teaching their apprentices and is the House virtue.

Affinity with Creo then. Didn't thought about the hermetic virtue limitation.

Ok, thanks.

As a tangential topic, I would like to confirm that teaching Virtues is easier with Good Teacher, but I don't think that Apt Student helps... Apprentices cites the teaching source quality as important, and Apt Student raises the advancement total, not source quality. Is that right?

It also says "Virtues that affect teaching also apply." Both Apt Student and Good teacher just talk about advancement total when it comes to actual teaching though, so presumably they are effected in the same way. Actually the exact wording of Good Teacher is "Add ... five to the Advancement Total of anyone who studies with you."

In fact the only time any of the core virtues explicitly says "Quality" its talking about studying from a book. (Knight and Latent Magical Ability use "quality" but its not about xp or study or the like.)

The point is since they say virtues that affect teaching apply they presumably refer to both Good Teacher, Apt Student. The fact that they don't explicitly mention "Quality" isn't important. Generally, the writers aren't great with having consistent terminology. In fact they use "Study Total" in several places despite not actually mentioning it the rules for advancement!

Ultimately, Silveroak has the final say.

apt student does apply.

Mercurio would like to join in the classes this coming year on Etiquette and Intrigue: were those classes private, or can he participate?

Hi raccoonmask! Only Magi/Apprentices get private classes uncontested, the rest seem open (though I'd imagine one could bribe/intimidate teachers into providing private lessons to non-Magi). So both sessions should be open.

In true I assumed that all classes were open, make sense magi has a privileged treatment thought.

Hi raccoonmask, Oliverius needs Arduino's assistance for the commissions in 1127?

I'm figuring it out still - need to decide if Oli wants to spend two seasons making a REALLY good teleport thief for the redcaps (And claim full 18 pawns of pay) or make a reduced item for about 15 pawns.. Or if he'll just turn down the commission because of his hubris.

EDIT: Current plans involve using Arduino's assistance for the magic thief-bag in Summer.. He has free study time in Autumn. Oliverius suggests continuing to study the Arts in the Library.

regarding sandor wishing to train- this won't be a problem in the winter when they are hunting anyways, but Phillipe wouldn't be training animal ken in the spring. Nor is he terribly perceptive about social influence...

Mercurio needs to put in his plans for 1127

You are correct! I've ammended this. A little lessons, a little book-keeping, and always on the eye for adventure.

Sandor will be informed that Vincenzio is the current teacher for single weapon.

Well it looks like he's better off training with Vincenzo than being taught, is this a possibility?

Anyway, Sandor wants to see the world. If his mother needs a knight, who better than he? :unamused: Don't think Lady A will be happy or even allow it, but Sandor is looking to cut the cord. Would he qualify as a knight (he has the virtue!), does he need particular equipment other than a horse, weapons and maybe a squire and a couple of men-at-arms?

If he took some members of the Praesidium with him, would this be considered mundane interference? :smiling_imp:

However, you mention 1127, do you mean 1128, as we are done with that one?

If it's for Spring 1128, does it work like an adventure?
