The message arrived in 1127, the campaign begins in 1128.
Vincenzio's teaching ability is being developed, and will likely be higher by fall. Also you could request use of the teaching lab for that class...
Sorry, I'm apparently very slow this holiday season. I've added Oliverius and Mercurio. Re: Oli, I'm going to see if I can figure out the math on summoned armor, but if I can't figure that out quickly, I'll read a book that season.
No demands on Arduino's time other than mandatory Terram lessons.
leo, I'm looking over the numbers here.. and you've designed a very skilled parens here in Oliverius. In fact, I'm rapidly going to run out of ability to actually teach my apprentice without wasting xp! If you have any specific requests for what you want Oli to teach his apprentice, you can put it in the spreadsheet. Otherwise, he's just going to work on turning Arduino into a clone of his parens, only thirty years younger.
On that note, Arduino is being ordered to learn more Craft and a bit of bargain to be a better Verditius.
In 1129 summer, he's going to be given 5 vim vis and ordered to open an iron ring for enchantment. Oliverius uses it as a lesson for efficiency in vis use compared to time use. Arduino is to return any vis he does not use in the process.
Mercurio is updated to the end of 1128. I apparently have terrible luck, and all his adventures happen on seasons he's supposed to do his work. Tsk.. careless boy.
Also, since he's 16 now, he's probably trying to seduce everything, with his MAJOR lecherous flaw.
I've updated Oliverius's xp, but I haven't done the vis-and-crafting yet, since my notes are at home, and I am at work.
Hi raccoonmask, sorry for the delayed answer but I missed your post.
To be honest when I created Oliverius and Arduino I didn't have very clear ideas on the dynamics of this saga and the many rules of a complex game like ars magica, now I feel like I would do a better job.
As you pointed out, Arduino will become a copy of Oliverius and this is the biggest mistake I've made. I intend to partially correct this situation during the transition of Arduino at the age of 21, changing something in his virtues and flaws.
In the meanwhile Oliverius could teach terram spells and improve the arts of his apprentice.
Regarding craft abilities Arduino complains about the lack of good books on blacksmith and goldsmith in the library. Is it possible for his master direct the purchase of the covenant's books in that direction? Arduino understand anything about economics, but knows that his covenant is very very rich and has tons of silver in its coffers...
In my (admittedly limited) experience, most times Masters want to teach their apprentices to be their clones. And it happens frequently, especially with well-designed teachers. It's not a BAD thing, you just need to accept that you imitate your parens til older.
Regarding that, Oliverius is always happy to acquire craft tractati, but the council of magi has better things to do than scrounge for mundane book. Bothering the redcaps for specific books is only going to annoy the redcaps, since they're bringing the good books in anyway. If one of the local blacksmiths do not currently have apprentices, Arduino can speak with them about acquiring more training in the art of metalwork. (We have four blacksmiths of skill 8-10, and only two apprentices. Since training another during work doesn't take away worktime, its likely Arduino can find training if needed, for a nice dozen xp.)
again waiting on Mercurio to fill out the chart, and need to know what book Oliverius is reading in the summer, clarification of the craft? entry would be useful as well...
Apologies. The 'craft?' entry was slotted for whatever the Mercere wanted crafted this year. You didn't put any out so I thought we weren't ready for the next. I'll assume no commissions, and update it now.
In the interests of time from here on out let's assume that anything you want to create will have a market between active and retiring redcaps (since retiring ones will want to trade in their adventuring magic items for comfort of life ones). List ones you have made in the thread I created and if there is a market for repeats I will note that (since it allows you to get a boost from your lab texts and perhaps make multiples). Occasionally I may still inject special orders into the mix.
I realized I never specified what I was scribing when I put in 'scribing'. Oliverius is going to translate his lab texts for his three unique spells, Metal of Viscid Clay, Infallible Iron Spear, and See the Vis. As well, his lab texts for the Bane of Hungry Flames invested item. He wants these notes on hand for the future.
Ignes.Festivus I see that Lady A has a season devoted to Gloriana already, but if she could help Aurthor in spring too he could invent a 6th magnitude Day of Communion together with the Aegis from the library.
Aurthor would use the Day of Communion to increase penetration of future Aegis castings by Evandrus and maybe transcribe it in a lab text for the library for general use.
*edit: wait, Aegis is ReVi, Day of Communion is MuVi, can't invent both in the same season no matter the Lab total.
Since this is an emergency, Lady A is willing. She would drop Gloriana in a second, as she has agreed in principle to give Aurthor priority for projects, but Gloriana would not take kindly to such snubbing, so she will dedicate two seasons to aid magi in 1130.
As for the Day of Communion, sounds good, Andros was also looking to invent a version in 1 or 2 years, hopefully with his Apprentice's help. This way we have options.
Thing is that to claim the Mercurian Cult discount, all Magi in the Communion need to have the Mercurian Virtue. So Gloriana will have to get as good or better as her parens to take Evandrus's place eventually. Oh well, more things to schedule.
Remember, getting Neleos as an apprentice, he has Deft Intelligence, so [strike]he doesn't get[/strike] half age penalties for his Int when he's assisting you. I also really want to see how Andros deals with Neleos having Harmless Magic.
Good to know, wasn't aware of what that Virtue entailed! ½ Age penalties in Int due to age.
The other things are just icing to Andros, who will view this as a challenge to be overcome with his patented "Apprenticeship for Dummies". Andros is confident (ridiculously so, Overconfident) that his training regimen will compensate for anything . He has trained for Teaching for a while, but has no real experiences in it, so his plans will inevitably crash with reality.
