When you make a friend that you begin corresponding with in game then we will note that correspondence and any season where you study that topic you will get +1 to your study total.

I was thinking that Anastasia would have kept in contact with her parens and with the Bonisagus researcher who showed interest in the unusual result of her experiment on a grog, and would be corresponding with them at game start.

That would be fine, that should probably be in the character thread rather than here.

Since you're logging correspondences by skills, I'm proposing that I currently have the following:
*From Parens: Comprehend Magic, Vim
*From Bonisagus researcher: Magic Theory, Corpus

You are the new kids and this is a target rich environment for developing correspondences. Everyone may select 5+pres topics of correspondence and will be able to meet someone to correspond on those topics. Whether correspondence is maintained over time will be seen as things play out. These do have to be appropriate topics of correspondence to what would be likely to be found for the group... single weapon for example, is very unlikely.

If the above correspondence from background are acceptable, I would go with the following from Summer 1229 onwards:
Creo, Intellego, Magic Lore, Mentem, Art of Memory
