Just an echo, "Hola! Buenos Dias-as-as-as...."
Scott
(OOC: Interesting. The cavern spelt "as" with one "s" only. Very polite, see also Shakespeare's MND.)
Smart ass.

LOL
I make another rock glow as efore, and ask Marie use to her telekinesis spells to send it gently through the doorway.
The light reveals a few feet of a "hallway": a straight, rectangular passage the same size as the "door".
Scott
I think we are acting too timidly. Dimmir, by all means, cast your proposed Intellego spell. But I think we need to talk a walk down this lonely corridor.
Marie stops levitating the rock about a hundred feet into the cave. It keeps floating in midair. It's barely visible through the palpable darkness.
Her grin almost splits her face as her eyes take on a decidedly Tytalean sparkle.

Tytalus once had a speaking cat who said: We are all mad here. I am mad. You are mad.
I bet you a pawn of vis that I will be the first one to retreive our glowing stone. No cheating with magic. Ready, set, go!
And off she runs as fast as she can (ooc: I chalk off a level of exhaustion and have her spend as much confidence as I am allowed to. Marie will shoulder anyone aside who joins the crazy bet, but will neither use magic too boost her speed nor do anything that could really injure the others. And no, there is no private message that tells me to make her act crazily. It's just normal Tytalus craziness. Trust me )
Jesus Christ, and I thought I was impulsive! Carmen is fast (Quik +1), but no where near as fast as Marie (Quick +3). She follows her, but does not make any effort to race her. I never agreed to any bet . But she is on edge, and casts CrAu20 Fist of Jupiter (CT +39, Mastery 1, Vacillated Casting), using her mastery ability of Vacillated casting to hold the spell in her hand by concentrating.
Marie reaches the stone first, and recovers it. She and Carmen are now standing in the middle of a long corridor....At least, it looks like a corridor. The walls are smooth, but show no signs of being worked. The other end of the hall trails off into darkness.
Scott
Carmen has Intuition. Does she have any clear sense of what they should do? If she senses no danger, she declines her vacillated spell.
Danger...ah, yes. Lots of it...There's a rock in the pit of Carmen's stomach.
Scott
!!!!!
Figuartively or literally? I presume as a figure of speech, my stomach is knotted with unease.
Marie, I sense great danger. Send the rock further down the hall. We have about a minute of light left.
I still decline my previous spell, and cast another. Presuming I have recovered Fatigue from the previous spont, as I have been walking calmly, I cast a new light spell on my dagger, slightly less bright but longer lasting. (Base 3, +1 Touch, +2 Sun), so we have a lasting light source handy. I then wait to catch my breath and watch what Marie does.
Marie sends the stone further on. She is in no rush, because the running was somewhat exhausting. She also says to the others with a voice that is meant to be heard by anyone nearby:
From what I know about fairie hierarchies there are two kinds: The ones who have little power like to hide and do their mischief unseen, and the ones who deserve our respect, the high-ranking ones, who are self-confident enough to show themselves. Obviously, if there are fairies in this cave they must be ...
She doesn't end her sentence but lets it trail off unfinished.
About 50 feet further on, the hallway ends. It branches, at perfect 90-degree angles, to the left and right.
Scott
I call on my Intuition again. Which is the best way to go?
Your intuition fails you here.
Scott
Then I suggest to Marie that we go right, then I call the boys to catch up with us. Ok fellas, I suggest that two of us each take a separate path. Marie and I will take the right, Decimus and Dimir take the left. We should try o meet back here later.
If this is some kind of maze we'd better stick together. We could also leave arrows on the walls, pointing towards the exit, magic ones, that are hard to change. Mapping this cave may be a good idea as well. Are there any signs left by previous visitors here?
(OOC: Making arrows using ReTe to modify cavern walls seems to be ReTe5 (although there are certainly also PeTe, MuTe, and a few other spells to that effect - depending on how exactly you do it), which Marie can cast spontaneously without exhausting herself). Marie casts an awful lot of spells, nothing really stressful, so I am not throwing dice but if our SG feels it would be fun to have her botch a spell or two, then just say so.)
This is why I think Marie is awesome. Much better idea than mine. Yes, perhaps we are better off all sticking together. I am not sure if marking our path will work in the face of faerie glamour and any magic designed to keep the maze confused. But it would be stupid to not mark our path.
Ideally I'd like to get some input from Dimir Taar and Decimus before we go on.
