It clatters, distantly, but otherwise there's no answer....
Scott
How distantly? Does it sound further away that I think I would have thrown it? My InVi total is weak, so I ask one of my sodales to cast a spell to determine if we are in or on the precipice of a Faerie Regio.
No, it sounds more or less like it landed where it should...but that's still quite a long way away.
Scott
Must be stronger than I thought
What happenes when we send a light source in the chamber?
Aside from walls stretching off to either side, you see nothing but floor.
Scott
Well, seeing as how I am the Reckless and Overconfident one, and since my Intuition has failed me, I take the first bold tenetive steps into the chamber.
OK. Everyone else?
Scott
Marie briefly thinks about creating some wool to use Ariadne's old trick but then follows along as she realizes that the darkness threatens to swallow up Carmen, who seemingly prefers to throw caution to the wind.
(ooc: no reproach, Marko - wouldn't been fair after Marie's behavior a few pages before anyway; let's get to the action).
(occ - just trying to play in character and move things along )
[color=red]Carmen, no, wait!
Dimir Taar tries to reach the maga, stop her from entering the darkness
[color=red]
Damn woman!
Does he follow?
Scott
OCC - Sometimes you need to make decisions on our behalf in order to move the plot along. If it is good for the story, then presume he fails to stop her and maybe winds up taking a step inside. Or, if it is better for the story, declare that he grabs her by the shoulder just in time. It does take some getting used to. Over in Novus Mane, it took us over a month to play out the first day of spring!
Decimus speaks. [color=red]Dimir Taar don’t follow they trap you as well. We keep together as a group and move forward together. No splitting up.
LOL! Sorry if I am impatient. My character jst stepped into the unknown, and I am eager to find out what happens next.
In that case I thought it was important to ask.
Scott
OK, so Carmen and Marie step forward into the inky blackness, while Decimus and Dimir Taar stick close to the wall. Edward and Astrid pursue Carmen and Marie, while the other grogs stay behind.
Momentarily, both parties hear a low rumbling...perhaps some sort of beast, perhaps a rockfall somewhere distant in the cavern. When Decimum and Dimir Taar turn around, the passage they just came through is gone.
Scott
[color=red]Who is there? Marie yells, first in Latin, then in the other languages she speaks. It is hard to tell whether the slight quiver in her voice is the product of fear or excitement.
At the same time her eyes try to pierce the darkness beyond the glowing stone, which she keeps at some distance in the hope that whatever it is that makes these noises goes for the light and not for her voice.
[color=red]Soldaes we are trapped! Decimus try to hide the fear in his voice. Decimus cast Eyes of the Cat upon himself to perhaps get some further aid in seeing through the dark. [color=red]Soldaes where are you? We must keep together. If Decimus can he will make Dimir Taar follow him to where the other magi are.
[color=red]Don't panic. They feed off of strong emotions. I have an idea. Carmen spends Fatigue for a spontaneous spell, and is willing to put Confidence into it if need be. The spell is CrIg10 (Base 2, +1 Touch, +1 Diameter, +2 Room), and I attempt to make the whole chamer glow with a faint light. I should really study more Ignem
Sta 0 + Cr10 + Ig4 + (aura) + (die roll) + (potential +3 for Confidence). Unless I botch, it should be successful. It won't be light to read by, only as bright as twilight or gloaming (:lol:), but it should be enough for us to navagate this chamber and see what is going on.
The spell goes off, but it doesn't succeed: the room is just too big for the effect created. Dimir Taar's spells improves his vision somewhat...mostly in the direction of the glowing stone. Still, a cat's eyes rely on having some amount of light, and there isn't much here.
