General Table Talk

Correction: I put a moratorium on starting new stories until we have completed that. And someone (looking at Tiana) decided to stall things right away.
Let us play out Solomon and Vibria speaking with Sigmundo. Then we can roll out everyone's copy season quickly.
I do not think "Midnight in Duresca" will get resolved instantly. Clues will be collected and setting up foreshadowing for a future story. That can be cleared out quickly.
Vault of Valdarius can be advanced a few years, as it is a side thread. Just don't open the bottle. Really. Just don't do it.
Then, if we want to go forward with this Chapter House idea, I propose we complete Advancement through the year 1233 and start the new cycle with 1234.

Did some quick research. King Peter conquers Mallorica in 1229. Count James of Urgel takes Ibiza in 1230. The rest of the islands fall by 1236. Right now the political scene consists of resettlement (deportation/colonization), pacification (quelling rebellions and shutting down pirates) and redistribution (there are some politics afoot between Peter and James)

Hey, it's not my fault you forgot about your own booby traps

And actually my request was because I hadn't read closely enough...

I hadn't realized when I first read that, what she meant was she'd be leading the delegation only in the event of that particular option. So I thought the thread was stalled because of the massive amount of writing it would take for Carmen to do all the negotiating with Sigmundo.

I certainly have no objections to skimming a few years, but I thought you were still needed a volunteer to SG the Majorca (Mallorca? Mallorica?) portion of the saga. Note this statement should not be construed as me volunteering.

Everything I'm seeing says King James I of Aragon took Majorca in 1229-30 and the Count of Urgel was named Peter.

I'm all for beta SGing, but I am not comfortable enough with the political landscape of the area.

That's what I meant

Just do like I do. Some half assed Wikipedia research, reverse the names, let someone else correct you

I could give it a try, but I'm much better at the "Mythic" bits than I am at the "Europe" part.

Seems like the perfect time to grab some land.

Seems also like a pretty dangerous times for redcaps, thus at least one incentive to make the zone safe for them.

As I see it, only if people want stories to happen there instead of it just being something in the background.

Well, I've got some ideas now, I think I can manage this. So how many people here want in on Chapterhouse: Mallorca?

Should we go for a separate forum and open up to some new players?

Not sure. I have considered that idea, but that may be more than we want. It will be essentially the same covenant, funded and supported by the motherhouse. We will have to build labs from scratch, we won't have our own library (at least not at first), and we are dependent on the mother house for vis and mundane finances.
But we will have our own set of boons and hooks that we can decide upon together. And individually we will be able to contribute resources.
I am working on revisions to the CharGen system, mainly the Hermetic Economics part. Basically: you can buy things as you go instead of waiting until the end, no age penalty at the end but instead a bonus for being young, and the opportunity to purchase covenant resources as well as personal resources (resources that must be shred instead of having the option to keep them to yourself).
I will let current characters recalculate their totals. These new ideas will also enable vis hustlers and non-magi who deal in Hermetic Economics (such as Venditiores) to buy & sell during development as well, and allows players to have greater input upon the shapes of things.

I'd like to set up on the Isle of Dragonera, actually. The island is a single square mile, just off the west coast of Mallorca. We would have the whole isle for our covenant, which is convenient.

As long as we're on an island my shark bjornaer will fit, so I'm okay with that.

It looks like it's close enough to Palma for my merchant idea to work. Though after reading the wiki article on Dragonera I feel like I should switch to a necromancer.

I was going to put in a pitch for Ibiza, but Dragonera looks interesting and is keeping in theme with the "dragon" theme running throughout this saga.

The more I look into it though, the more I think there should obviously be a dragon here...

No comment.

Does your shark Bjornaer look anything like this?

As interesting as it sounds, I'm going to pass, at least for now. I think I'm spread as thin as I care to be for the moment.

I say keep it as part of this game, set up a portal to travel back and forth, use the same library and pool of resources, etcetera. Just increase our cast of characters, and let them go back and forth as fits the needs of the covenant. Meaning some of our Masters should go there and some of these proposed Journeymen should stay here. No one has to make a second magus, they just can if they want to, and players who stick with one character can still participate in stories at either location.
It is a Chapterhouse, not a vassal or spinoff.
