be safe and happy in your new home, and grab sleep while you can
Still alive though it takes time to think about characters and their development.
take as much time as you need. No pressure
Congratulations!
I'm sure you'll be a great teacher and that, in no time, he'll be quite useful in the lab.
Also, his cries should help you stay awake for these triple overtime projects ![]()
Sorry I've been so quiet the past few days. I came down with the crud late last week, and am still getting over it. And I totally didn't feel like thinking at all this weekend, but I have been reading. Started my new job today, so I'll have a couple of hours in the evenings to derp around, and I'm off this weekend. But between getting a new checking account and going to see Oz, all on the bus, I don't know how much time I'll have Saturday. Sunday's wide open, unless somebody kidnaps me or something. (Hey, a pony can hope.)
Get well and feel better
That's cool! Btw, tell us about Oz, I hope it'll be good!
Anyway, I'm proud to announce you that, next to "magi", "Flambeau" is the biggest tag in the Andorra wiki
Having serious Keep on the Borderlands flashbacks right now...is this the cave with the 4th level Hero who's actually evil? ![]()
Don't recal, but I do not think so. There was one set of caves, if I recal, that was home to goblins. Around there.
But still, do not trust that map. It shifts and changes. If you mentiuon the location to Carmen, she gets a look of concern. These are the Caverns of Entropy. They are always changing and rearranging, the way in is not the way out, and even things such as realm and aura are inconsistent.
My favorite line from The Fugitive: "What I don't understand is: if they can dye the river green for Saint Patrick's Day, why can't they dye it blue the other 364 days of the year?"

Which reminds me: here's a false commercial by 80's french humorists les inconnus (the unknowns). Even if you don't understand the words, the video should be "clear" enough.

I will check it out.
But as a side comment, dying the river Blue would be freaky and unnatural. The river's normal color is a murky sea grean. The bright greed dye they add is actually Plumber's dye, used to find leaks in underwater pipes. It looks strange, but is actually safe and harmless. More like food coloring on a massive scale. And it lasts only a few hours before it fades.
Never underestimate how very-very Irish the history of Chicago is, both in demographics and cultural history. Yeah, I know a lot of Yanks like to make claims of how strong their ties to European ancestors are. But Irish immigrants once made up such a large part of Chicago population, that today more than half our residents can easilly and directly trace Irish ancestry. In the 1800's, the Irish were an oppressed working class people, and the celebration of St. Patrick's day became, as a result, a rally cry for ethnic pride and cultural affirmation. Many old buildings, especially on the South side, and elaborate Celtic knotwork desigfns embossed into the masonry. The Irish mob, once led by the infamous Bugsy Moran, once had a lock down on criminal actifities on the North side. Competition for Al Capone and his Italian based mob operation out of Cicero. The infamous St. Valentine's Day Massacre was a bloody hit Capone called down upon Bugsy. Bugsy was not there, but half his capos were rubbed out in one fell stroke and the Capone mob took over. Two of our Mayors, Richard J. Daley and his sone Richard M., were not only very Irish but between them they ran the city for more than 50 years. There was a small gap between the two, during which we elected the great Harold Washington, one of the first Black Americans to be elected mayor of a major city. Richard M reigned longer than his dad did and retired only a few years ago. I was dissapointed that there was not another Daley I could vote for.
And the Irish stared the Chicago fire. It was not Mss. Oleary's cow as was long believed, and she recieved a posthumous exonneration. It was Peg Leg Sullivan, who broke into O'Leary's barn to steel supplies to make corn mash whiskey. He knocked over the lantern that started the barn fire.
As for Saint Patrick's day, we annually have two parades, many local events, and anyone with even a sliver of Irish blood goes nuts with ethnic pride. As a side not, St. Pat's celebrations in Ireland itself are a relativly new phenomenon. But there it is just a celebration, they don't need to go as heavy with the Irish theme because thet are already in Ireland ![]()
That was entertaining and informative, thanks!
Once again, a rough weekend with long late night hours. I get home at 10am
I will catch up with everything on Monday.
Folks, if anyone's bought Sub Rosa #13, can you PM me, please?
Er. Sorry. That was supposed to be Sub Rosa #12 -- the one that just came out.
For what it's worth, IMO, thanks.
The gift is easily overlooked, with its consequences of compagnons and grogs being useful to magi, and this kind of reaction make it more real and credible. Well done! ![]()
Happy to oblige!
Sorry for my quietness. I love to play grogs, but they have to be fleshed with personalities before I can jump into one.
